mikloss Posted May 15, 2013 Posted May 15, 2013 Hello, my name is Mikey Musch, I'm presently 19 and more or less began the journey of self knowledge / pursuit of wisdom around July 2012.I've always been interested in asking why, but I feel that spontaneous curiosity was crippled by school and parents trying to shape me into a cog. When I was introduced to Stefan I first watched an interview on Anxiety and Depression with Dr. Greg Siegle, this lead me to question the natureof my thoughts; how rational they were, what evidence I had to believe certain statements, what caused the thought. It was that process which rekindled the flame of curiosity, and my inspiration saw me looking deeply into philosophy and psychology. My housemate was already on thepath of self knowledge, and then it spread to my friends whom spoke nightly on TeamSpeak. Now we're a community of four constantly lookingto develop our understanding of ourselves and the universe. I'm engaged in a few pursuits other than philosophy and psychology, all of which are artistic. I've been fascinated by the process of creatingand inventing as long as I had been provided the resources to. I'm interested in making a career out of this hobby and quite strongly believethat if I 'find a job I love I'll never work a day in my life.' Currently I question what ingredients leads a person to achieve on a 'genius' level. I've thought curiosity (or inspiration) to be a key component,as I find myself most effortlessly productive when satisfying my curiosity. I'd like to answer this quesiton and provide myself with an environmentwhich will help productivity soar. Ultimately my goal is to freely pursure my interests and make a living out of it.
Chris Harris Posted May 16, 2013 Posted May 16, 2013 Welcome to the community Mikey! I am overjoyed to hear of your curiosity in these ideas, and that you have others that you can talk to about these topics. I am curious myself to what type of medium you use for your artistic endeavors? Do you draw, paint, or maybe engineer things? I have seen a few people who are part of this community use Kickstarter to get their projects going so that might be a way to see if your hobby can become a career. Anyways I hope you enjoy all the wisdom this community has to offer, I know it has and continues to help me!

To answer your quesiton, I usually paint in Oil on canvas, other than that I sketch with graphite pencil. I used to enjoy film making and animation and so I also have some ideas for artworks in those two fields. Thank you for refering me to Kickstarter, it looks very promising!
