IvanNH Posted May 9, 2014 Posted May 9, 2014 Hello All, I would like to introduce myself. My name is Ivan, I am 32 and live in the great state of New Hampshire. Yesterday, after a year of thinking about it, I decided to join the board and also become a donating member. I have been an off and on listener of the FDR podcast for at least 5 years. A very good cousin that lived with me years ago introduced me to many of the topics here and we would have very long and thought provoking conversations. At the time I was a huge Ron Paul supporter and had a hard time getting it. Eventually I became thirsty for more information and just started to listen to the podcast on my own. I feel like Pandora's box has been opened in my life. There is no turning back after you truly understand what is going on here. Everyday I am trying to figure out ways to change my life. For example, I have made a conscious decision to not spank any kids that I might have in the future. I have also started to introduce the Philosophy to my girlfriend, close friends, coworkers and other family members. I think the hardest part for me is the feeling of being an outsider but it won't stop me from trying. That being said, I am very excited to finally be posting on here and looking forward to many great discussions! Ivan
Kevin Beal Posted May 9, 2014 Posted May 9, 2014 Welcome Ivan! It seems like for a lot of people, you'll see a couple videos, forget about the show for a while and then something clicks and you end up watching a lot more videos / listening to a lot more podcasts. That thirst you mentioned. I don't know why that is, but I think it's fascinating. Why do you think you got thirsty? It would be nice to recreate that toward my own nefarious purposes mwahaha!
IvanNH Posted May 9, 2014 Author Posted May 9, 2014 Thanks Kevin! For me, it was just a touch and go. Up until 2012 I still supported Ron Paul and donated to his 2012 campaign. I desperately wanted to see change in the world and truly thought there was a road through Government. I pretty much lost hope that it will happen that way after 2012. I think as I really started to understand it better, the thirst only grew and the podcasts only supported it. I think my thirst is mainly driven by a passion for knowledge and understanding about how the world functions.
Markus FIN Posted May 11, 2014 Posted May 11, 2014 Hello IvanNH! Welcome to the forum! I just made an account a few days back and I can tell you that the conversations here are very pleasant! Just be prepared for the hammer of facts that is about to hit you if you make an argument! Thanks Kevin! For me, it was just a touch and go. Yeah politics in the USA might not ever be a possible way for Libertarians to proceed, but I still believe it is still possible in some developed countries. Ron Paul is a great man, the corrupt "Democracy" just doesn't allow people like that to get in power, because that would be the end of the American Fascism... :/ Markus FIN
IvanNH Posted May 14, 2014 Author Posted May 14, 2014 Hey Markus. The problem with democracy obviously is the use of force. There is nothing voluntary about a democratic system. It relies on a small group of individuals to be the moral police aka the biggest gun in the room. It just doesn't and could never work efficiently, even in a small country.
