Guest cycleandstrum Posted September 4, 2014 Posted September 4, 2014 Hello there... My name is cycleandstrum. It's the first time I've posted on here and in all honesty, I'm a quiet presence on here...so go easy on me Anyway, to be brief, I am not a parent and am a fairly young man But I plan to be dad one day and indeed that is the most important job role I'll ever have...that should take up a page of my future CV in BIG RED INK!!! So I was wondering if people could recommend some good parenting books they've read? And I can go ahead and poke my nose around many fine retail establishments. Thanks for your time guys!
Ruben Zandstra Posted September 4, 2014 Posted September 4, 2014 Hi! Welcome and good for you man. I was trying to remember the titles I liked best, but then found this earlier link which cites them all (and some more): https://board.freedomainradio.com/topic/40927-books-recommendations/?hl=%2Bparenting+%2Bbooks#entry374409 1
bostonPro Posted September 4, 2014 Posted September 4, 2014 I recently read Unconditional Parenting by Alfie Kohn. I enjoyed it and would recommend it.
Devon Gibbons Posted September 4, 2014 Posted September 4, 2014 I just began reading parenting books. The first one I've read and have enjoyed is more than a parenting book, but a personality diagnosis book. It is very insightful and I learned a lot about myself reading it. It's "The Manual" by Faye Snyder. Highly recommend it to everyone. Stef interviewed her once, and her son, Theoretical Bullshit, on YouTube has a vid about her book That's all I can say confidently now. I appreciate everyone else's recommendations as well.
Guest cycleandstrum Posted September 5, 2014 Posted September 5, 2014 Thank you Ruben Z, boston PRO and marginalist. Somebody's popping down the shops today. I'll look at those ideas; one of the reasons I asked in the first place was I think I need some practical tips for parenting especially of course the initial years. All the best to y'all
