HenryB21 Posted November 6, 2015 Posted November 6, 2015 Hello everyone, My name is Henry and I study at the University of Massachusetts-Amherst. Everyone around me leans exclusively to left. All are Bernie Sanders supporters, promote socialism, and are unwilling to listen to facts. I need help to continue on here. I know the best way is to leave the school and give up this joke of higher education but until then how do I survive? How can I defend myself from these lunatics?
A4E Posted November 7, 2015 Posted November 7, 2015 Continually express that those who get high grades should be forced to help out those with low grades, until everyone gets roughly the same grades. At school lunch, protest against the inequalities among the students, and proclaim that the only solution is if everyone pay their fair share according to what they have, and everyone is served the same food. Also if you have the balls, when in those large classrooms, with people sitting in the front and way back, sometimes say that it does not matter who came into this room at what time, and it is only fair that everyone should have the opportunity to sit in front during a lecture, so we should all change seats at intervals, so that we have equal amounts of front time with the professor. Promote socialism at the university whenever possible. You will have fun with peoples reactions, and you will make them think. Win win.
Ed888 Posted November 7, 2015 Posted November 7, 2015 Hey good to meet you Henry Did you try looking into getting training/certificates for technical positions? There's jobs like elevator technicians or equipment operators out there that are never promoted in college. They don't pay extravagantly but it's got more of a bar to entry then retail or services alike it to where you can earn a bit more. Also it may sound kinda defeatist but if you get the vibe that someones gone down deep the leftist hole, I wouldn't bother trying to reason with them. Just nod and keep scanning for people you think might be open to thinking on different ideas. Leftists in college don't want to think contrary to their beliefs since doing so goes against the entire foundation they're building their lives on.
EuanM Posted November 20, 2015 Posted November 20, 2015 Welcome aboard Henry! I recommend listening to podcasts 16 & 17 if you haven't already. I think you'll find them helpful. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OLgwgAu4Lio&index=17 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tLy2jLVdCtQ

Hi Henry From my experience it looks like you are way outnumbered, and any counter protests you put forward would fall on death ears, and be a waste of your time. My advice to you is, get your head down, study, get your grades and make friends in the real world, ignore the bullshit surrounding you now, it's becoming epidemic. Just know yourself that's all that matters. Good luck.
