Good morning!

Just great to finally be part of the community and finally be part of the conversation.  I am very new to the world of Philosophy and it has really changed my life....for the better!   It was quite the accident stumbling onto Stefan, basically was just watching Youtube videos and well found one that peaked my interest and the rest was history.  Until recently I have always been quite the linear thinker, now thanks to a little enlightenment I feel the world has opened up.

So yeah a little about myself.

Work a full time job as a mechanic at a private industry

Father of 4

31 years old

Married 3 years

5 Brothers

Musician
Grew up a Christian, became a skeptic in the past few months thanks to some thinking.

Was quite the drinker of the media bias when it came to politics, now a bit more objective.

Anyways hope that is a good starting point.

Glad to meet you all!

Welcome!

I'm in WI too and finally joining the site after listening to Stef for a little over two years.

I'm a musician too, been playing guitar and bass for quite a while in hard rock/heavy metal.

Might as well put in a bio while I'm at it:

I'm 28, a guy, up in Marinette, originally from Sheboygan.

Self-hating government employee at least for the next while.

Single, don't know how hard I'm looking for love or anything, but I'm in awful need of friends up here.

I just have a funny religious history and struggle.

Raised Lutheran, quit by high school.

I had a pretty stressful time when I was 21 and drank a few too many beers. I felt guilty and joined the Mormon church for about a year, which led to rushing into not the best marriage, but it wasn't very long and it was an easy break. I gave up the Mormon thing when I was tired of justifying all the nonsense and they were literally chasing me around town.

Sometime before that I had bought a Neo-Tech book, which introduced me to some objectivist ideas, but it was in an awful package and I wasn't ready for it.

I finished tech school (I attended off and on forever) almost a year ago and got a job right away for the gov't up here. It's been tough getting any social contacts and I was thinking about joining a church, a political party, and maybe the freemasons or something because at least they discuss philosophy.

Last night had just a hugely profound moment for me.

I was invited by someone from work to a republican party event very close to me. I thought this is my chance to hang out with and be one of them.

I bought a pair of dockers and a golf shirt, a sure sign of selling out entirely.

I walked up to where they were holding the event.

I was maybe only a minute or two late, but everyone was seated and speakers were already going.

I turned around to hang up my coat.

One thought entered my mind.

"Warmongers, all of them."

I left, never to return.

I'm joining this site because I'm done being dishonest with myself and others.

I'm also tired of starting every sentence with I, so cheers everyone! Looking forward to going forward!
