Hello all:

I'm Andrew born and raised in Las Vegas NV. I am ex-Military Intelligence and left the army due to a moral awakening.  I currently just finished College and am working in the Computer Graphics field in Architecture.  I majored in Animation and you can visit my web site www.andrewvalde.com (shameless plug lol).  I went from a law and order guy to the system is evil in about two years and found this show in the process.

I appreciate this show and its community its nice to see some people who are relational.

Thanks all

Thank you very much. Both for making this decision and sharing it with us. If the enforcer class accepted that nobody can exist in a different, opposing moral category, we'd have freedom today without any bloodshed. We need more of this!

Would you be willing to share what spark allowed for you to entertain the possibility that maybe what you were doing/who you worked for was immoral? And/or what straw broke the camel's back of making the difficult decision of accepting the truth despite the ways it would negatively impact you?

Where to begin in the description that is the illusion of my early life and career? I will make it short and to the point.  ACE score of 6 and neglected as a kid. Later in life (later teens) I ran to the closest institution that was ordered and had a purpose since I didn't find mine early in life which was the Army.  "Society" had always stated that such a profession and life style was virtuous so I was hungry to be able to tell myself that I was as well that I joined went to boot camp "programmed" and was sent to Iraq on my 21st birthday.

Saw a lot of horrible things and began my career in interrogation and source operations (no physical coercion aka torture). Met a lot of evil people which brings us to the point in my story where I met a particularly evil person who asked a question that still haunts me to this day.  I went to the BDHA (Brigade Detainment and Holding area) and started to prep for my morning session with a detainee "we will call him Abbas". I sat down at my desk and reviewed some propaganda that his organization made  "this was around 2008; if I remember right half way through the surge"  I sat at my desk and watched a video of women and children being killed one by one with a AK-47 by Sunni terrorists.

I still remember that video almost 8 years later but in no way as much as the conversation I was to have when I was done getting ready for the day ahead. I walked into the room where I would interrogate this person who allegedly "did" what I just witnessed. He walked in and sat down a MP behind him who left and we began to discuss his country.  I have never believed in pure evil till that day, the look in his eyes was indescribable. I will only tell you one thing we discussed' about half way through he leaned over with almost pitch back stair and asked me what made me (or the U.S.) any different than him. He stated we both kill and lie for what we want. Of course at the time I scoffed and rationalized but it stuck with me like a terminal illness.

I continued with my career with an extreme uneasiness that was only tempered by the fact I was decent at what I did.  I did find weapons caches and possibly save some lives however we all know that doesn’t really mean much when the world is burning.  I was sent back one more time but this point my uneasiness built to anger at the stupidity of the whole situation.

There was about two months when I thought Obama might be a good thing for the situation “I laugh when I think about that now”.  But I ran into Ron Paul and I began to think. I went from a center left Statist to AnCap in two years, everything clicked and I had four months left in the Army and I just swallowed a large red pill. Each day till I was out of the army I never look at what we did, or the people that I worked with the same. But now I don’t have to live in the shadow of early ignorance, I just get to build things and for the last three four years of my life I’m actually happy. And that’s the gist of the story. I could expand on each part ad infinitum but that’s no good for anyone.

and living freer life hasn't affected me negatively quite the opposite. Thanks for the interest
