logeine294 Posted August 28, 2016 Posted August 28, 2016 Hey everyone, I thought I would introduce myself. My name is Dan. I am from the Milwaukee area, and have been listening to the program for a while now. I look forward to meeting and discussing ideas with the group. I originally found Stefan's podcast when I was referred to it by my my cousin-in-law who told me about, in his words, a "brilliant philosopher". With great interest, I began to listen to many of these discussions and quickly found the topics to be engaging and stimulating. I now consider that to have been a very important turning point in my thinking and life. So - thank you for that, to be sure! The other effect of finding this community and conversation was that I realized that I was more than twenty years into severe patterns of self-destruction that authoritarian and autocratic mindsets and parenting had on my relationships and me personally. This began to really bother me in the context of my three children and relationship with my wife. As I began to reflect more closely on my life path and listen more, I started to pay closer attention to things. The more I paid attention, the more curious I became. The more questions I asked, the more I started to realize that there was a crack in what I thought were my beliefs, and the beliefs of others I knew. Up until that point, I thought I knew exactly what I was all about, and felt relatively confident that I had reasonable beliefs. What more did I need to know? Little did I know at the time, but I was about to embark on the long and difficult journey of self-knowledge and philosophy. More about me: I'm an active participant in the freedom movement, sitting on the board of an organization here in Milwaukee that brings in speakers - many of whom have had interesting discussions with Stefan - including Jeffrey Tucker, Stephan Kinsella, Walter Block, and others. Finding Mr. Molyneux bolstered that ambition for me as well. Thanks and I look forward to discussing and learning more. I appreciate all of the willingness to discuss, debate, and open up by everyone involved here. It has meant more than you can know to date. ...Dan
