Pod Posted September 23, 2016 Posted September 23, 2016 For anyone who's interested, Reason.tv did a small series about anarchy in Detroit. One of the focuses was Threat Management Centers, a successful private defense company operating in the city. You'll just have to watch for youself because the main guy gives some really good info on why their operation is superior/more effective than police operations. 1
Izzy Posted October 21, 2016 Posted October 21, 2016 Wow, that's very interesting. It's like how different species found a safe haven after the Chernobyl incident. Seems like Detroit is becoming a breeding ground for new experiments because everything is so cheap to test out there, but wonder if that would be the downfall of the experiment if the city suddenly starts getting better again? I went to the outskirts of Detroit once with a friend who knew the city well. Even the outskirts were atrocious and scary to travel around. He told me that businesses are starting to thrive in small pockets in different places, which gets cops to protect them, which causes the housing prices to rise and ultimately gets the left to scream out "gentrification!"
thecurrentyear Posted October 22, 2016 Posted October 22, 2016 Stef interviewed the Threat Management guy, I think?
