Peter_1985 Posted November 12, 2016 Posted November 12, 2016 hi,My name is Peter, 30, from Venlo, The Netherlands. Atheist originally raised Roman Catholic.Am a lifelong politics enthousiastic. Started off as a supporter of Pim Fortuyn, a socially liberal yet pro free market and nationalistic Dutch politician who was murdered in 2002 on the day the polls first published him and his new party as topping the polls. After they got elected as 2nd biggest party after his murder, and because of a lack of leadership soon vanished again, I have been a wandering soul. Looking for a school of thought that maximises both personal freedom, limits human suffering, yet also serves the interest of humanity as a whole.I moved from mainstream Christian Democracy (German CDU/Dutch CDA style) to religiously neutral conservatism/centre-right (German FDP/ Dutch VVD party) to socialism (German 'Linke' or the Dutch 'SP') and had a flirt with collectivist anarchism like Mikhail Bakunin advocated for a while... but watching the US elections as a former Bernie supporter who basically disliked Hillary more than anyone else, I changed my mind due to the coverage by Stefan and other pro-freedom independent broadcasters.Took me a while but I dug into individualist anarchism and libertarianism and even the American alternative right and I found more common ground with people like Stefan, Mike Cernovich, Milo and Bill Whittle and have sworn off any sorts of redistributionalist socialist ideals. However, although I agree with individualist anarchist principles, I still have many questions of conscience regarding my political and ethical alignment. The opportunity of engaging in constructive dialogue about questions I am asking myself regarding these issues, brought me here
Tyler H Posted November 17, 2016 Posted November 17, 2016 Well I don't think there's a better place for the discourse you are looking for - welcome!
dsayers Posted November 17, 2016 Posted November 17, 2016 That's quite a journey! Welcome. What sort of questions/issues are you struggling with? I too was raised as a Christian, with very destructive effects in my youth as a result. Today, I am very pleased to be a liberated, rational thinker.
