  1. Thank you for taking time to clarify your ideas further, Wesley. If the ACE can assist in determining an individual's predilection for personal and political freedom, then it should be able assist in determining an individuals' predilection for personal and political imprisonment. IMHO the ACE leaves out a lot of contextual and environmental details that may, or may not have relevance on how an individual is able to recover their true selves and unite their mecosystem. For example, if people who score 8 or more are more likely to embrace voluntaryism in a free society, but someone slips them some heroin before they are able to process their trauma, then, in my unprofessional opinion, there is a likelihood that they will not make it to this community. If someone scores a 2, but they are surrounded by individuals who are obsessed with statist principles, they may internalize any deviance from the tribal indoctrination with intense fear and anxiety. Again, never making it to this community. Not sure if any if this makes sense?
  2. Wish I could be there.
  3. That's a nice narrative, but I'm here to let you know that there is a pretty good chance that you are not developing your cognitive skills by slumming with ass clowns in other various forums who will never change their minds. In other words, I've wasted much of my own life attempting to do the same. I'm sure that you're far more intelligent and better debater than I could ever hope to be—but is that worth blowing your time on?
  4. I'm not sure how this information could be useful. Would you explain?
  5. I would be curious to hear about what happened in your childhood that brought you back to the lion's cage. I would then ask what happened in your childhood that has you sticking your arm back inside the lion's cage of your family of origin, and why in the world you might be expecting a different response. I would also ask why you have any interest in responding to those commenting when you only have one arm left with which to type.
  6. Let's say I score a 10 on the ACE. How would that account for my presence here on the boards?
  7. I can relate to your post. Here are some questions that I hope you will find useful. What evidence do you have that you are the source of these paranoid feelings? What makes you think that the feelings you are experiencing are misleading you? To take it a level deeper, how do you know for certain that the paranoia you are experiencing has anything to do with your true feelings? Do you think it is possible that you are picking up on the paranoid feelings of those to which you are associating? Are these individuals free, or are they involved in master/slave or slave/master relationships in their lives? This video might help. The relevant content starts around the 7:13 mark.
  8. Well done. Thank you for posting. As you probably know , there are only a few small typo's, but this might be ready for self publishing, if that is something you are considering. Again, I'm sure you're already aware if some if your options, but if you aren't it may be worth mentioning that you may do so through Kindle on your own, or through submission to "Kindle Singles" http://www.amazon.com/gp/feature.html?ie=UTF8&docId=1000700491 Or through a new Kindle short story platform/magazine called "Day One" http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00FDWVIHO?ie=UTF8&at=aw-iphone-pc-us-20&force-full-site=1&ref_=aw_bottom_links (Scroll down for submission guide lines) There is also wattpad. Interesting video on the platform here: http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Pma_sYZc2-s Please let me know if this is useful.
  9. This video might help too. Ethics Redux! Universally Preferable Behaviour Revisited...
  10. Interesting thread. I guess it goes without saying that IF there wasn't a target market and profit margin for the type of cultural production featured here, a considerable amount of it probably would not have been created.
  11. Why do you parents want/ expect you to get a degree, exactly? Do they have degrees? If so , how did they pay for their degrees? Are they currently working in the field they studied? If they are forcing you to get a degree by withholding love and showing disapproval, then are they willing to pay for your degree?
  12. So, if I understand what you're asking is that you don't have any idea whatsoever why I might be feeling nauseated by the "story"? Let's imagine for a moment that the news article is a little different. We will bring it up to date to the present. You just read a story that your local veterinarian had been taking in pregnant cats and dogs the last 40 years. For some unexplainable medical reason, all the the puppies and kittens that were born at this vet's office all contracted some kind of similar disease and/or medical condition. Instead of consulting with other vetinarians, or local medical professionals, or checking with farmers of livestock over the course of 40 years, you learn in the article that four hundred puppies were flushed down the toilet, and into the underground septic tank buried behind your local vets office. In addition to the four hundred puppies, an additional 400 kittens were flushed down into the same shit hole. Are you able to imagine what that might have been like for the puppies or kittens? Are you able to imagine that the vetinarian had the best interest of the animals in mind? Irrespective of how the puppies or kittens died, do you have any thoughts or feelings about puppies and kittens being flushed down a toilet? Would you really believe the story that the vet was telling? Are you beginning to feel anything?
  13. What is it you think you might be missing about a mass grave of 800 children, exactly?
  14. I appreciate what you're saying, thank you. It's a silent internal history that was passed "into" me by my parents.
  15. I am nauseous reading this. My parents are from Ireland. This story speaks to the intergenerational pit of bodies that is part of my history.
  16. Difficult situation, for sure. Try not to react. Be kind to yourself. Breath, and try to relax. Taking a walk might help discharge, or lessen some of what you might be experiening. She will eventually get the message and go away. The strong thoughts and emotions you are experiencing are probably more aligned to what your "inner mom" is feeling, than what you are feeling, if that makes any sense?. Is this useful for you?
  17. I am speechless. It's horrible what happened. How old are you? ( i just visited your profile and see that you are 22, correct?) Are you currently living at home? Black Heron, what's occurred in your history that led you to make such insensitive comments?
  18. I would have the parents sit down with their children, and have them ask the children the following: If they could have chosen them to be their parents, would they have chosen them? If not, why not? If so, is there anything they can do better to make sure that they would want to keep them as their mom and dad. Then have the parents promise to deliver on making the changes. If the parents refuse to even participate, then you will know that your relatives are training their children to be their slaves, and as such, wounded adults who will petition the state to use violence to solve social problems. If the parents ask for pen and paper to take notes of what their children say, then that would be a great indicator that your relatives are not treating their children like slaves. Now, how one might turn this into the form of a game is not easy. You might create little imaginary business. The children could be seated at tables, and the parents are acting as the wait staff. It could be called Parent Pizza Parlor or something, and make little customer survey cards. The question I mentioned above might be included, along with, "When do you feel loved most by mommy? When do you feel loved most by daddy? When do you not feel loved by mommy? When do you not feel loved by daddy? When do you feel happiest when you are with your moony? When do you feel happiest with your daddy? Does the idea of this game freak you out? If so, why? If not, why not? In the spirit of consistency, I must also ask you for feedback on my suggestions and questions as well. So please let me know if any of this helps.
  19. I understand that human beings across the entire planet face unique social problems, some worse than others. In my opinion, I think it's great that you would like to help this particular group. Sorry that I wasn't clear in my first attempt. Which philosophically universal principles would not apply to the human beings that happen to take residence in the particular geographical location you wish to assist? In other words, your original question (to me a least) strongly suggests that there is something uniquely different about the particular group of people you wish to help. If there is, then what are those things? Or, to put it another way: If there is something uniquely different about the particular group of people you wish to help, and if the universal philosophical principles that are foundational to the content and context created by Stefan Molyneux are in fact true, then what exceptions, if any, apply to this particular geographical gathering of individual human beings? To reframe my question again, which universally true philosophical principles, and which universally preferable behaviors do not apply to people who live at the north pole, or in a tropical rain forest, or in the outback of the geographical location known as Australia, or in a place called Israel, or in a place called Puerto Rico, or in a place called China? I hope this helps clarify my question so that I can help make suggestions for you and the people you wish to help. If not, please explain what I am not understanding in regard to your question.
  20. I think I get what you mean. Your post reads like a connection being made by your unconscious mind. However, to use language to talk about a universe killing a poet so that it coincides with man-made corporate media's attention is— at best— specious.
  21. This is a great idea. What, if anything, makes Israelis different from any other human being?
  22. Why, exactly, are you having ANY conversation with a person who is willing to argue that breathing is an act of aggression against them?
  23. At the risk of sounding like a kill joy, there is little that one can do to escape the effects of statism at this time in history. Thanks to the creativity of the free market, the grip of statism is not as tight as it has been at times in the past. To acquire freedom, some might suggest that you work to acquire as much self-knowledge as possible. That may reduce your current desire/ feeling that you need to hide in order to be free. As far as addressing you question more directly, there are places like http://galtsgulchchile.com, or http://freestateproject.org that have interesting ideas about how to obtain freedom and to live peaceful voluntarist "lifestyles." Maybe the links above can provide a framework or springboard for your own creative ideas and approaches, or relocate to join those communities.
  24. If the "Counterforce Group" abhors capitalism, then it goes without saying that they should be able to create a sustainable society without the $3 billion. Sad to see so many people lost in crazy.
  25. Very cool, thanks for posting. There was a point not too long ago when I was back in school considering a second undergrad degree. I took an intro to phil class, but the prof was a boot licking statist. None-the-less I did a short paper on Searle's Chinese room. I'd like to get more info on his work, and this looks like a great primer.
