  1. My meme creation for today using one of Stefan's quotes, "Pulse proximity is not intimacy", from podcast FDR2691.
  2. SueBee, the FDR Meetup site shows the date for Wednesday, July 9th. If you could confirm which date to use, I'll update the calendar on the freedomainradiomeetup.com site. It's awesome that you're getting Meetups started in Edmonton!
  3. Look forward to meeting you sometime soon, Rich!
  4. The next Freedomain Radio Chicago Meetup will be today, Saturday, July 5th, at 2:00 p.m. We're going to be revisiting The Local Root at 601 N. McClurg Ct. in downtown Chicago. We'll also be changing locations later in the evening to see the Navy Pier Summer Fireworks at 10:15 p.m. So far, 10 philosophers have RSVP'd. If you want to join us, you can RSVP at http://www.meetup.com/Freedomain-Radio/Chicago-IL/1168972/. Look forward to seeing everyone!

  6. Thank you for joining and welcome to the FDR Chicago Meetup group, Phil! We look forward to meeting you!
  7. Hi, coldix. There are a few different Meetup groups in Australia, though I think the miles between are considerable. The nearest to you appears to be Perth... http://www.meetup.com/Freedomain-Radio/Perth-AU/. Have you considered starting a Meetup group in Albany AU?
  8. Hello, kavih, and welcome to the FDR community!
  9. We had a turn-out of 9 philosophers at the recent FDR Chicago Meetup on June 21st, which included 3 new attendees. The Meetup lasted until just after 10 p.m. and included several in-depth topics of conversation and the sharing of two meals together. The time flies by far too quickly. It was great seeing everyone! The next Meetup will be on July 5th, though the venue will likely be changed for it, as Chicago is packed on the 4th of July weekend and it can be difficult to get around. The change in venue will be posted at http://www.meetup.com/Freedomain-Radio/Chicago-IL/, as well as the facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/groups/FDRChicagoMeetup/.Look forward to seeing everyone again!
  10. Hi, Phillip. It's nice to meet you and welcome! I live in the Chicago area, about 60 miles west of the city. There's an active FDR Meetup group in Chicago and we'd enjoy meeting you in person. The Meetups are held every two weeks and posted at http://www.meetup.com/Freedomain-Radio/Chicago-IL/. The next one is July 5th, though we may change the venue. If so, it will be posted there. There's also an FDR Chicago Meetup group on facebook, if you're interested... https://www.facebook.com/groups/FDRChicagoMeetup/. Look forward to meeting you!
  11. Tomorrow, Saturday, June 21st, is the next Chicago Meetup! So far, eight have RSVP'd. Always room for more; Local Root is happy to set up as many tables as we need.
  12. [Updated February 5, 2015, to update due to the discontinuation of the Meetup Everywhere platform] One of the first things I did when joining the FDR community online, was to explore every nook of the FDR web site. I was elated to discover FDR was associated with Meetup and eagerly clicked the big blue 'Meetup Groups' button on the Community page. Having been involved in Meetups for over six years, what it meant to me was that there would likely be members of FDR in my geographical area. The prospect of meeting others from FDR face-to-face was both exciting and scary at the same time. At that time in my life, I had been listening to some of Stef's books and podcasts intermittently for about a year, but it wasn't until the fall of 2013 that I delved into it deeper. It had become overwhelmingly clear I had only scratched the surface of what was to come in my life. One of the first changes was the break-up of the 2+ year relationship I had been in and I also began to find it difficult to have the empty conversations with those in my daily round at the office. The only person I had meaningful conversations with at that time (and still do) was the person who introduced me to FDR which is my son. There had indeed been a shift in my thinking and reasoning and understanding of the world. I began to recognize that having people in one's life with whom you can have an honest and trusting relationship, whether it be as friends or romantically, would be the most worthwhile social endeavor. The question became how to meet them. Where were these people out there in the world that I could talk with openly and have meaningful conversations? They were right there...in FDR; in the forum, in the chatroom, opening their hearts on podcasts, and reaching out through Meetup. Each one comes with it's own method of communication and interaction. I embraced each form of interaction, and with each one, my self-knowledge over the months has grown. Learning more about myself couldn't be avoided once I opened my mind and heart and let in the people I began to meet there. Of course, the pursuit of self-knowledge is ongoing and will be a lifelong process. The interaction I've come to embrace the most in the FDR community is Meetup. I had attended several types of Meetups over the past few years, ranging from dance lessons to hiking, and had been a past assistant organizer while living in Texas for a year, so it's something I was already familiar with. At that time, the Meetup Everywhere platform was still in place; however, effective December 1, 2014, Meetup.com discontinued the feature. While people can still set up a Meetup group on the Meetup.com site, it does cost a monthly fee. The other option for those who want to organize an FDR Meetup group has been to use other social media for news and postings about their group such as Facebook. If you're looking to find and meet FDR members who reside within a close enough geographical area to meet face-to-face, take time to check for FDR Meetup groups in your area; using the Meet n Greet section of the forum here on the FDR Board, Meetup, or Facebook. Otherwise, you might not realize an FDR member lives right in your neighborhood. Even if they're not that nearby, how awesome to even have the opportunity to take a drive and get together in person with people who share your enthusiasm for honesty and rational thinking. As one who has taken that drive, I can relate that it's well worth it. Philosophy is about taking action. We, the members of the FDR community are out there. I encourage you to see who's there to greet you. If you don't find a community in your area, consider becoming an Organizer and starting a group. What's required is a commitment to invest your time and effort. Take that important step and be there to greet others who are looking for honesty, personal integrity, and a life where we can connect to make a difference. Stef said it best when he said, “When we connect with each other, we free the world”. If you decide to become an organizer, we have a Freedomain Radio Meetup Organizers group on Facebook and we welcome your participation, as we help each other through the process of developing and promoting FDR Meetups in our areas. “I think that personal integrity and commitment to values and so on is really important, but the people who are around us... Who you surround yourself with is who you're gonna be.” - Stefan Molyneux (FDR2544)
  13. The next Freedomain Radio Chicago Meetup will be on Saturday, June 21st, at 2:00 p.m. We're going to be revisiting The Local Root at 601 N. McClurg Ct. in downtown Chicago. Please RSVP at http://www.meetup.com/Freedomain-Radio/Chicago-IL/1170612/. If you don't have a Meetup account to RSVP, please contact me by PM here at FDR. More about the Freedomain Radio Chicago Meetup group can be found on facebook at https://www.facebook.com/groups/FDRChicagoMeetup/. Look forward to seeing everyone!
  14. The June 7th Meetup was another great get-together of the FDR philosophers in the Chicagoland area. We met at The Junction in Union Station and then went to the Metro Deli for dinner. As has become common with the Freedomain Radio Chicago Meetups, the get-together went for over five hours, as we delved into several meaningful topics of conversation. This is an amazing group of people and truly a gathering of genuine rational minds. The next Meetup is scheduled for Saturday, June 21st, 2014. For more details or to RSVP for future FDR Chicago Meetup events, visit the links below: Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/groups/FDRChicagoMeetup/ Meetup: http://www.meetup.com/Freedomain-Radio/Chicago-IL/
  15. I have a Freedomain Radio app (Version 1) on my android cell phone and tablet. I installed it last year; however, the app doesn't show up in the Google Play store any longer. A google search turned this up, which states "This app is unfortunately no longer available on the Android market." http://www.appbrain.com/app/freedomain-radio/com.fxuniverse.freedomain. Yup, that would explain why the app keeps crashing. In the meantime, I've resorted to using an app called 'Photon Browser' to access the forum (a browser, but a functional one as the live call-in show stream functions with it on my android, which is essential).
  16. Freedomain Radio Meetups
  17. Sagi, It's wonderful that you're getting an FDR Meetup going in your area! I'm glad you joined the Freedomain Radio Meetup Organizers group and we look forward to your participation and hearing more about Meetups in Montana. Melesina
  18. Hi Sean, Welcome to the FDR community! I enjoyed talking with you in chat yesterday. It's awesome that you'll be joining in the Chicago Meetups! I live just over an hour west of Chicago, far enough to be in the countryside outside the suburbs, among the corn fields and fireflies. I used to make it over to the Joliet/Romeoville area quite often. I look forward to meeting you! Melesina
  19. Thank you, cherapple. I agree; it would be great to have a collection all in one place of FDR memes. One of the places we might be able to collect them is on the FDR Art Project site at http://fdrart.deviantart.com/. Each artist could submit the memes they've created there in the Memes category we have set up. Another that I've considered, is to post them to Pinterest. It would offer an additional venue for distribution, but wouldn't be an option for a central location of memes made by other FDR members where they could be viewed all in one place. In the meantime, you inspired me to create a Freedomain Radio Meme facebook group. I thought about making it a facebook 'page', but then I wouldn't be able to open it up to others to post their memes to. I'll also continue to post mine here and to facebook, as I create them. I'm always happy when one gets picked up and re-posted, so feel free to share them.
  20. It's time for the Freedomain Radio Chicago Meetup tomorrow at 2:00 p.m. Nine philosophers have RSVP'd; see you at The Junction tomorrow!
  21. After listening to the release of 'The Truth About Stefan Molyneux', this quote came shining through and inspired my meme creation for today...
  22. Had time to make this meme today...
