  1. Great video as always alex. Just a few technical notes: At about 1:10ish when you're defining negative rights and positive rights, are you saying oblige? It's tough to tell, and it's pronounced like o-bly-dge (if that makes sense) Also, In the 3rd instance you wrote "his or her actions in unethical"
  2. I recently listened to Podcast 362: Forget About Offense and this topic reminded me of something Stefan brought up at around 40:00 about people having an issue with certainty. It was more about someone having an issue with Stefan laughing at a person's beliefs (I think, or something along those lines) but it might have some relevance.
  3. Welcome to the FDR boards! I think Stefan explains the type of stuff you're seeing a problem with better in his books. Read/Listen to Universally Preferable Behavior and the three on anarchy starting with Everyday Anarchy. It might help to double back on a concept you're disagreeing with as well because it seems like you're misinterpreting some stuff.
  4. Which of these statements is Stefan agreeing with Chomsky's anarcho-socialist views on, and thus reducing his integrity?
  5. Plenty of people here in the states get people to pay them for being a "life coach" and they're full of bullshit and don't have any fancy papers saying they're smart. Though I wonder if it's because they're telling their clients the answers they want to hear and not what they need to hear. People are probably less likely to pay for advice to take the harder road but if you can help enough people and get the right reputation you might be able to make a living at it.
  6. Have you watched the Bomb in the Brain series of videos? It explains why people often don't/can't respond to and accept a rational statement if it causes them anxiety. A paraphrasing of it is that if someone has a hyperactive fight-or-flight mechanism (which can occur from early abuse) their defenses will go up in the brain before the statement can even reach the parts of the brain that control logic and reason. So, when you realize this is happening you're pretty much wasting your time attempting to change someones mind about anything.
  7. Hmm, my architecture knowledge doesn't go much further than a few courses at a community college and I only draw house plans as a hobby, but on a city planning/building level, that's a whole different story. Stef mentioned in an early podcast maybe we wouldn't have as many suburban commuters without the people in the city subsidizing the highways for their commute. Less incentive to live in the 'burbs if you want a non-telecommutable job. But who knows what transportation we would come up with when oil is the price it should be. I'm assuming it'd be a bit more expensive than now but I'm no expert. What else would the nonviolent market affect? Think places in the city would be more expensive?
  8. Okay so he says in the first few seconds that we can do all these things because we can manage and control them. "we create them [those things] and do them" ...he then talks about bacteria for the remaining 3 minutes on the basis that the entire earth's ecosystem is analogous to a test tube with a static and finite amount of food. So what's the concern here? I mean, is the question a real question or is it an argument against a non-violent market?
  9. Well it's more so that he has very interesting guests probably. Had I met Stefan in person (or anyone talking about ancap or NAP or whatever) I think I would have been one of those rare people that said "hey you know you might be right. I might have been thinking about things all wrong this whole time. PLEASE TELL ME MORE!" because it just clicked instantly for me. I too considered myself and anarchocapitalist after hearing about it. Like Stefan, consistency just gives me a nice warm fuzzy feeling so maybe I picked up on that subconsciously or something. I have a very keen attention to detail so finding consistency can be tough at times. I was raised loosely as a christian and wasn't forced to attend church so I rejected the bible pretty early. Somewhere in my 20s I came to the conclusion that if someone were to live peacefully but not believe in god, and god then sent them to hell, than that wasn't any god I wanted to believe in, so I'd say I was agnostic for a good while there but now I find atheism to make the most sense.
  10. After I got an AppleTV I finally started listening to podcasts and I first heard Stefan on the Joe Rogan Experience. As to arriving at AnCap, I was a good little US patriot until I watched the TZM docs and found out about some of the sinister foreign policies and fractional reserve banking and fiat currency and such. A couple months later I heard Stefan on JRE and have been listening to as much FDR content as I can since.
  11. I can make 'em as small as ya want. Just gimme a max length or width. Also, the max size for anyone else interested is about 11" Wide by 14" Tall.
  12. Why did you punctuate the topic heading with a question mark? If you weren't indeed curious, you should have just made the topic "Hempsters are dumb for thinking stuff"
  13. Okay lemme just start writing this first envelope out to Longshot at 1600 Pennsyllll....... heyyy, wait a minute! OMG, Longshot, are you Obama?
  14. I got myself one of those fancy vinyl cutters and made up an FDR sticker for my car. If you're okay with giving an address to an internet stranger** I'll be happy to send you one for free as long as you put it in a highly visible area and not just on the mirror in your bedroom or something. Just send me a PM with your info and I'll get it out to ya. **for what an internet stranger's word is worth, I promise I won't keep track of any addresses or anything. Options: (please indicate your size & color choices in your request) I can make these small (4"W x 5"H) or as big as (11.5"W x 14H) and anywhere in between. Available colors are White, Deep Blue, Sky Blue, Black, Green, Yellow, Red, and a brass/gold metallic kinda color. Reversed lettering is also available if the sticker will be placed on the interior side of a window. ---- And finally, if you're a member who attends FDR meetups, I'd be happy to make several in case anyone else at a meetup would like one.
  15. The Stig is, or at least was, Michael Shumacher. As about as professional as it gets regarding racing.
  16. Well I'm admittedly no expert but I believe the (validated) claims for it are from CBD, not sure exactly what the THC part does. I'm curious as to how N Korea can use a decent military to help its citizens.
  17. Don't the acronyms need the definitions included? like: ABC - Accidential Biological Cage As a newer listener I'm not sure what a few of the ones you guys listed are.
  18. Hemp may not be able to do all the things better that a lot of people claim ( a good site made by a guy that has done more research than most, hemphoax.org, has some good content ) but the chemical properties of CBD and such that are in the plant seem to do pretty 'miraculous' things like kill some types of cancer. As for a country using hemp to lift its citizens out of poverty, the country itself would first have to have systems in place that would allow it to happen. i.e. a free market to sell the hemp.
  19. I'm trying to put a link (to my etsy store) in my signature but the window to paste think freezes up on me. Hitting both OK and Cancel do nothing. I'm using IE11 on my laptop and home and I'm assuming it's 11 at my work computer which is doing the same thing. Any ideas? :: EDIT:: It works fine in safari. The window itself also only had one field on safari. The one with IE11 also had fields for anchors and an email addy and such. Good ol' reliable prepentium powermac
  20. Great video man, hopefully it gets plenty of views. Maybe get a kickstarter going for a better mic though . I'd pitch in.
  21. it's also good with some tomato sauce instead of the cheese sauce.
  22. that's also assuming all 9,838 members are still active. And I know a superbowl ad is more than just $1mil
