  1. Good for them, I'm sure many magical underwears are rustled. Slightly related topic I read a poll of physicians by state WRT medical cannabis and every state had a majority in support except Utah which was like 95% against. The propaganda is still strong on that one.
  2. Just read again and I still don't know what you're getting at. The lack of replies seems to suggest I'm not the only one. was going for snarky more than derogatory and should have included a smiley
  3. +1 I had a conversation with a lefty statist girl who told me she was applying for an unpaid internship. I asked why it's ok for her to work for $0 but not good for a person to work for $5/hr. She understands the idea that she is getting valuable job experience but wouldn't agree that an unskilled person should have the same right to work at mcdonalds for whatever wage she could negotiate. So I went for morality, "You're saying people should be put in prison or shot for wanting to work for less than you think they should be paid." She couldn't counter with anything except "Lets just agree to disagree" At least she didn't tell me to go to Somalia...
  4. I would not. I just listened to a FDR podcast where he talked about the silliness of the idea that we're going to run out of oil and I think it's the same idea. The market will solve the problem. Food will get more expensive so it will be profitable to grow your own again. In the past the majority of people were involved in farming of some sort, now it's less than 10% as technology has made farming more efficient.
  5. I was bullied/abused as a kid and took up Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu to learn self defense. I trained in the 90s with some guys who ended up fairly well known in the UFC and I still find it interesting. I also got into conspiracy theories a lot as I was realizing the government doesn't always tell us the truth (lol) and Joe talks about a lot of that type of stuff. I've kind of moved beyond that now and I think that was me convincing myself that government is not our friend. For example, the other day a friend read an article to me that was suggesting Obama is secretly a muslim trying to undermine the US. I replied that we don't need to speculate about unverifiable nonsense when we have his own words admitting to evil. Anwar Al-Awlaki was a US citizen who O claimed the right to assassinate because the guy hated the US even though he was never accused of any crime. If that's not bad enough, they droned his 16 year old son who was also never charged with any crime and the usual bystanders (don't call them innocent, they were near a "bad" guy) because they expected the son to hate the US for killing his dad.
  6. I was a republican who believed what I was taught in school about the gov being benevolent. My first intro to philosophy was in college but unfortunately my teacher was pretty terrible and I was turned off when I got a bad grade on a paper because I disagreed with her. I still think it was the best paper I've ever written. Joined the military and realized how wasteful and corrupt it is. I supported Ron Paul and learned about the NAP from him. I hadn't heard of Stefan until he was on the Joe Rogan exp, but l downloaded some podcasts the next day and started calling myself an anarchist the day after that. I can relate to much of your post. I was supporting my family playing internet poker and in 2011 the us gov forced the shut down of the sites. It was plainly obvious that the powerful brick and mortar casinos were using government guns to suppress the competition. That was certainly a turning point for me.
  7. You wrote a wall of text but didn't answer my questions. I agree that the Bible was written by imperfect people, but biblical doctrine disagrees when it says that every word is "God-Breathed". You seem to agree the Bible does contain errors and bad teachings. If you are able to discern what is correct and what isn't, why do you need the Bible at all?
  8. How does he know? How do you know he knows? I spent countless hours praying to the emptiness when I believed and I was worse off for it. If I had spent that time improving myself instead of pleading with my imaginary friend to do it for me maybe my prayers would have been answered... The Bible says every word is "God breathed" so it isn't Christian when you say you ignore the parts of the Bible that you don't like.
  9. No, there's no reason a ratings system has to be statist, but that's not the point. The point is that there is a clear difference between a driving instruction vid and a ridiculous movie like Fast & Furious and that's something parents should teach their kids well before it comes time to drive.
  10. I like this advice. I've had many of the same thoughts as OP and in my case I think it's related to my F'd up childhood. Nobody really taught me how to be a good friend. I just listened to the Empathy podcasts and found them very helpful.
  11. Movie viewers have a responsibility to realize the show they're watching is entertainment. The vast majority of movies scarifice techincal accuracy for convenience and entertainment value. PG ratings mean parents need to explain the difference between fantasy and reality. You don't watch Point Break to learn how to skydive or The Matrix to learn how to dodge bullets...
  12. I'm new around here, is this a troll thread? Think about the true, original meaning of Christmas....The Winter Solstice. Are you saying that fasle institutions fail and the fact that religion endures speaks to its veracity? I'd submit that statism is a false institution based on lies that has only expanded its power in recent history.
  13. While I agree that I'm pretty smart I have no idea what your post has to do with that.
  14. This. I remember hearing Stef talk about how welfare/social security are like subsidies for assholes. If you're a virtuous person and need help paying for medical costs or whatever you can go to your family, friends, neighbors, or church. If the state subsidizes these costs people have less motivation to build strong relationships. Take away all the freebies for single mothers and they'll be motivated to stop banging and making children with deadbeats. When I lived at home my dad always used to say his will was going to say "I spent it" and he was leaving nothing to his kids. He even repeated it the day I introduced my fiancee to him, "make sure she doesn't expect to inherit any money lol" Guess who I am not taking care of when he becomes an invalid.
  15. What's the answer? You forgot to finish your post methinks because I found no explanation.
  16. Armitage: Have you ever considered that you may have a blind spot? How's your relationship with your parents?
  17. You still haven't pointed out anything... Here's an easy question. Can you cite a definition used by Stefan that had no relation to reality? You don't just get to say "He's wrong" and call that your theory. Try presenting some facts and or evidence to backup your claim once you figure out what your claim is.
  18. What are you taking about? Apparently I have a bind spot WRT this post because I can't find where you point out what is being missed. So what is in the AN Cap blind spot? You say he can't see something...
  19. Can an unborn child consent to a contract? Can I enter into a contract where I promise to give you the fruits of labor of my unborn child? Is slavery bad? Are my children my property? If an unborn child can't consent (duh) then spending his money (that he hasn't earned yet) that he cannot consent to give is stealing. He has no choice to not enter the society but his tax dollars have already been spent. Edit: podcasts 155-157 are on the social contract
