Gods and devotions of the modern American

Materialism. It all really just comes back wanting... stuff. -
You never know, in today's world it wouldn't be surprising if he/she is a guy.

People need to remember that the FDR brand is not just a podcast or youtube channel, but it is also a business, and that being said he has to go where the market takes him. If his primary goal is to spread philosophy and peace to the masses, and secondary goal is to make a living while doing that, then following what is popular at the moment will greatly increase his market share, while also reaching a broader audience. Many people that are looking for knowledge don't know what they're looking for, or how to find it. If someone is just keeping up with this reality TV show called politics, and find his messages on it well thought out and logical, that could very well open the doors to them finding the messages on peaceful parenting or other such topics, as well as shows he produces in the future while maintaining the new viewers. I personally don't agree with his thoughts on voting (for Trump), or Trump actually being able to make an appreciable difference with anything, but I do understand why the focus has shifted and can appreciate that.

I found this book pretty insightful - https://www.amazon.com/How-Talk-Kids-Will-Listen/dp/1451663889/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1476908584&sr=8-1&keywords=how+to+talk+to+kids It doesn't talk about "peaceful parenting" per se, but it talks about effective strategies for raising kids, which does not involve the use of force or punishment, because those methods are simply ineffective. This is fairly short and concise - http://nospank.net/pt2009.htm This is definitely the time to change minds, people are much more open to change before they've made mistakes, as after they've committed to a "parenting style" they are more set in their ways, for changing would admit wrong doing, or at least doing something less effective than they could have, which for some people is difficult to admit to. Regarding the morally draining arguments, are you doing this for the benefit of the parent or the helpless, defenseless child? I have many people that choose not to associate with me anymore after hearing my arguments for multiple reasons - they couldn't refute them, they would have had to admit their parents didn't do as great of a job as they thought, and they knew I disapproved of their methods - but I did not make the arguments for their sake or mine, I made the arguments for the sake of their defenseless children, and for the sake of my children, as I want them to grow up in a world surrounded by healthy people, or at least as many healthy people as possible. The parents listening would have benefited them as parents, but it was not for them. If you find out they are having a boy, with the knowledge you have you really owe it to that child to help save it from mutilation. Just as if a doctor saw someone collapse in front of them, they should use their knowledge to try and save that person. With great power comes great responsibility, and knowledge is power.

Shortened and Sweetened video edit of "Why I'm Voting For Donald Trump"
algernon replied to A4E's topic in Listener Projects
A few weeks ago I had a chicken sitting on her eggs, she sat there for about 2 weeks. At one point I counted them, "Sweet, I'll have 12 baby chicks soon". Around 16 days into it she decided she was done and got up and walked away. Chicken eggs take around 21 days to hatch. The EU referendum result is not legally binding, the Parliament is considered sovereign and the referendum is considered an "advisory referendum". -
Boyfriend lied about being a virgin
algernon replied to welcometothedarksyde's topic in Self Knowledge
Even though we've only been talking for a month, we've both fallen head over heels for each other, despite the fact we've never talked over Skype and only through text chat and swapping selfies of each other. We've spent up to 10 hours chatting with each other over Discord. You've never heard his voice? He's currently in university and lives with 8 other people, so he hasn't had the opportunity to have a facetime with me since he's always being interrupted by drunk roommates. After 1 month he hasn't left his dorm and been able to chat with you over skype? I'm calling BS He told me he had dated a few girls online, but had never met them in real life, so he was still a 100% virgin. Never even kissed anyone. So he says this... ... he let it slip that he had met one of his exes in real life back when they were dating Lie 1 He then admitted he had kissed her Lie 2 and upon my asking if anything else beyond that happened, he shut down and said he was uncomfortable talking about it. Lie 3. This was a major red flag for me. It really broke my heart, not that he had an ex he'd slept with, but the fact he lied about being a virgin. The lies are a really big problem. He told me the reason he lied was because he had only broken up with his ex of a year 2 months ago and that he felt it was "TMI". Or maybe he's still seeing her? He said he wouldn't want to know about my sexual history either, and that he feels the past is in the past. He told me it wasn't personal, that he wouldn't have told any girl he's dating about his sexual past. Lie 4, and absolutely ridiculous. He explained that he wanted to make me feel that we'd share the experience of first kissing better if I thought I was his first too. Lie 5. My boyfriend told me this is the only thing he lied about, and mainly because he doesn't like talking about past relationships. Lie 6. I don't know if I can trust anything he says now since this is such a big lie. Yes, and because of so many lie(s). In actuality you have no idea if you were compatible, he could have been a complete and total troll. Everything he said about agreeing with you could have been complete lies. Are you even sure he is who he says he is? You already have so many obstacles to overcome to continue a relationship with this person, the distance, being in different countries, having never met them, having never talked to them, now add lying into the mix, do you think you should try and continue the relationship? Do you think this is the best you deserve, or do you deserve better?- 30 replies

I think we're on the same page, and quite unfortunately all of my powder along with everything else was lost in a tragic boating accident. Quite unfortunate. -
Do you believe in personal responsibility and self ownership? These principals should easily answer your questions. Regarding the landmines, if I fence a part of my yard that says "Danger, land mines buried" and someone that is morally responsible for their actions (Appropriate age, can read, not mentally handicap, etc.) decides to walk through my fenced in yard regardless, how am I responsible for their actions? Let's start throwing car manufactures in prison and suing them for car wrecks too, while we're at it. Car wrecks are the single highest cause of death in America. What about if you've never learned to drive and get in a wreck, do you get to sue the car manufacturer for not properly training you on the operation of a vehicle?

No.

I think that's a bit subjective. In a high enough quantity water can kill you. People consume drugs to self medicate, if you're a broken person you're going to over medicate. That doesn't make the drug dangerous, just the person.

I agree with all of your assessments about Trump, I do not agree with your call to voting. You are voting in a system that has been pretty well established as completely corrupt. You have someone running for president that the Justice Department came out and said was a criminal, they had all of the evidence readily available to prove she broke the law, but didn't "recommend" prosecuting due to "intent". Basically gave a non reason. Not to mention a murderer, "We came, we saw, he died, Buaahaha". You have secret courts issuing warrants to shadow agencies without any oversight Obamacare was passed, and everyone I knew said it would be struck down as unconstitutional because it clearly is, but that fundamentally does not matter in a corrupt system, the Laws do not apply to them, they apply to Us. I was completely unsurprised when it was upheld, for as an illegitimate reason as Hillary avoiding prosecution. The drug laws in the US are not getting better, they are getting worse. Whenever you make something illegal you actually lose quite a bit of control, because then people just do it in secret and the government doesn't know what's going on, but instead of decriminalizing it, they make it "legal". Now you have permits, taxes, rules, regulations, more and more control. Is it any surprise ICANN was relinquished? We still have TTIP being discussed, it'll keep getting shot down then then they'll keep changing the name, until eventually it passes and equals MORE CONTROL. Fast 'N Furious gun running anyone? That was a much bigger deal than most people realize, a close friend of mine has a brother that is in the ATF, it was such a huge deal he thought he was going to lose his job because the entire department was going to be eliminated. He wasn't aware of the peak corruption, because what actually happened was the people involved received promotions to shut them up. And now we have all forgotten. A few weeks ago I was speaking to the owner of a local feed mill, starting next year their paperwork load is going to increase 10 fold, they will have to have an entire room dedicated to paperwork. You see starting next year they have to log absolutely everything that comes in and out, where it's from and where it's going. They will have to hire a new employee just to stamp codes on bags of feed. More onerous government control. The conspiracy minded individual might see this as food control, having better records on who grows what, just in case. This might actually put them out of business, a near 100 year old company. Before I noticed the trend I would have "faith" on things getting better and becoming more free through legal governmental action, and it was faith because it was based on a superstitious belief absent of facts or empirical evidence. Now I see that is a impossibility because a parasite doesn't decide to die and just stop feeding off of the host, either the host dies and in turn the parasite, or the host kills the parasite. You cannot become the CEO of a company and expect to turn it around when the majority of your employees are thieves and murderers, we are nearing peak corruption, and voting for (very debatable if it even matters at all) someone that could possibly fix an impossible situation is not going to help. The odds on Trump winning are extremely low, and if he does he will be largely ineffective, for however long he's able to last. If we're talking about him slowing down the destruction of Western Civilization from a head on collision of 60mph to 59mph, is that really a good thing? At least with us nearing Peak Corruption, moderate "Republicans" are more willing to talk about the immorality of government. I'm able to have many more open conversations with people now regarding the dangers of government, older business people, than I would have been able to during a Bush term for instance. If you like portions of someone you can forget about some of the bad stuff, at least with Obama's Destruction they like nothing and will openly talk about it. With that being said, why refuse to vote? If you are playing a game in a casino where you know they are rigged, I think you lose some legitimacy by playing, it's obviously a scam. Suckers aren't taken seriously. Don't play the game and get everyone else to stop playing, the system loses legitimacy and dissolves that much faster. These things are not going to change towards a positive direction if we just had that one right guy, Ron Paul, Donald Trump, whoever might be next, no one is coming to save you. The system will collapse under it's own weight of corruption and mathematical inevitability of a worthless dollar. Prepare Yourself Accordingly.

What I think is so funny about all of this, the media and everyone else pretends most guys don't talk like this.

I don't quite understand all of the down votes. Apparently some people don't like your arguments. How come you don't accept private messages?
-
How well has that worked for the value of cannabis? Everything is already illegal, who cares. If things get bad enough "hoarding" food will be illegal. This Too Shall Pass.

Duel N back training may be somewhat beneficial, if nothing else it'll give you a barometer of your current state.

I had a thought when I saw a bumper sticker or maybe it was a sign... "I support Trump". That makes logical sense for most people to say, those invested in the system, they support Trump or they support Hillary, because they believe in and support the State. That leads me to my thought, someone who recognizes the state as evil and immoral - would they vote for someone and say they don't support them? "I voted for Trump, but I don't support Trump". That doesn't make logical sense, I think if you vote for someone you have to support them, that is after all what your vote is doing, showing your support and hoping your vote somehow actually counts in a meaningful way to bring that person into "authority". "I support Trump", therefore "I support the state". Your not voting for him to win a reality TV show, or open a new business, the vote is specifically to help him join the ranks of The State. The argument could be made that someone like Trump has the potential to do a lot of good, help a lot of people, slow down the destruction of the country. Couldn't that same argument be made I could help a lot of people if I went and stole 10% of Trump's wealth and distributed it to the needy? I could make a huge, meaningful impact in the lives of many many people, all the while "barely" harming anyone else.

Ownership is a mindset - "He gazed up at the enormous face. Forty years it had taken him to learn what kind of smile was hidden beneath the dark mustache. O cruel, needless misunderstanding! O stubborn, self-willed exile from the loving breast! Two gin-scented tears trickled down the sides of his nose. But it was all right, everything was all right, the struggle was finished. He had won the victory over himself. He loved Big Brother." own·er·ship ˈōnərˌSHip/ noun noun: ownership; plural noun: ownerships the act, state, or right of possessing something. If you play the game, you win or you lose, either way you're apart of their game. You may have to live in the corrupt casino, but you certainly don't have to play their rigged games. I do find it interesting how the rep system here works, you up/down vote based on if you agree with someone? I must have been doing it wrong all this time.

For the anarchist who think that *this* election is different, and Trump stands a chance of changing the system in a meaningful way in order to buy more time for us to change people's mind over to the freedom loving anarchist side, what empirical evidence do you have of that being possible? I'd like to see examples in recent history of any politician shrinking the size of the state. In my opinion, voting is giving your tacit approval of the system, and if everyone stopped voting the system would be recognized as corrupt.
-
I'd say he's focusing on it for a few reasons - anyone that cares about actual facts already wouldn't be voting for Hillary, she's a liar and a war monger, it's not a secret. You have all of these Hillary voters like her because she has a vagina, and supposedly she cares about women and have their best interest in mind, which cannot be true if she stays married to a predator.

A few different things came to mind - 1) The child did not end up in the pond on their own accord, someone threw it in there. By saving that one, you are encouraging 10 more to thrown in. 2) You do not have the moral responsibility to save that child, since you were not the one that threw it in. 3) If you are morally responsible for saving the one child that will cost you money, then you are morally responsible for saving every child, that means you have no claim to anything, you own nothing. 4) If you are morally responsible for saving everyone, then everyone else is morally responsible for saving you, therefore it cancels itself out doesn't it? And lastly, maybe you're preventing an important part of human evolution from happening by saving every drowning child, they will never learn to swim. Perhaps the attrition rate will be high, but in the long term some will swim and eventually there will be no more drownings. "Charity" can be an extremely destructive tool, and when robbery is used to fund it even more so. I'm assuming that was his personal suit, and if so he's a hypocrite, which makes him someone not worth listening to.

Hey Tony, cool site. Was browsing through, I did find this somewhat amusing. One of the most expensive per hour had this as their political leaning. Political Leaning: Liberal/socialist, the state is a means to an egalitarian end
