@heymanslow That's cool, is the person you found to speak Russian from this forum? Thanks for taking the time to translate. I recently found a guy on youtube who also translates various freedom videos and he has the Story Of Your Enslavement translated too. He actually adds youtube subtitles to original videos and reuploads them. Did you render the original video with a layer of subtitles on it? Do you know why youtube shows ads on your video? Did you monetize it or youtube does for some other reason? Here's the video from the guy I found

I agree, but this in this case the suicide attempt happened some time in the past. Plus what parents do is drugging the poor kid with psychotropic drugs, which could be the primary reason for the suicidal thoughts. Even if there is a tiny chance that the girl will listen to the podcast and it will click with her, I want to try.

Hi everyone, I met a woman and we had a meaningful conversation about psychology and child abuse. She mentioned that her daughter's teenage friend tried to commit a suicide recently. That girl is on psychotropic drugs, she is seeing a therapist, but it doesn't seem to help. I barely know the woman, but she said she has a good relationship with the girl. We talked about that girl's parents, but the woman doesn't know much about what happens at her home. I told her about FDR. I know I can't do much in this situation, but maybe I can send a podcast or a video to that girl through the woman that will resonate with her? If you think this is a good idea, what podcast would you recommend? I'm thinking a listener conversation about suicidality may help.

Interesting point. I think you compare things that are in specialization/generalization relationship with each other. For example, real estate is a specialization of investment. You can say that your parents achieved financial success through investment. Generalizing, you can say someone can achieve financial success through investment and this implies that this will be true for any specialization of investment, i.e. real estate, stock market etc. We can also say that investment is a principle and real estate is special case of implementing this principle. In the same way monogamy and polyamory are principles of building a relationship where homosexuality and heterosexuality are special cases of those principles. This may be less obvious why not the other way around, but I think since men and women have equal capacity to participate in a relationship, we can take either monogamous or polyamorous principle of interaction (which includes certain way of resource/time sharing etc) and switch men and women resulting in special cases of implementing that principle - homosexual or heterosexual relationships. Now, if we can prove or at least build a strong case on empirical data that monogamous relationships are happier or more practical same as investment is a more effective way to achieve financial success, then you don't have to follow your parents' special cases of real estate or heterosexuality, but you do want to follow them in the investment and monogamy principles.There are many good points earlier in this thread why a monogamous relationship works better in the economic reality of our society. However, I can see how let's say three people meet each other and start building RTR wonderfully spending all available time together as a triple, i.e. talks, dinners, sex, entertainment, vacations, raising children etc. That would be a really interesting case!

Hey guys, I listened to the series of podcasts "Fascists around you" where Stef talks about sociopaths and I wanted to get back to this topic. A sociopath lacks empathy and mostly acts to their advantage only therefore violating UPB and the first part of this "formula" - reason. However, can we say that a sociopath is happy when he or she achieves their evil goals? Generalizing, are there other ways to reach happiness? Is someone asks you why do you engage in philosophy? You may answer, I want to be happy and to achieve it I will resort to reason and virtue. A politician may (secretly) reply that he will instead make tons of money through preferential legislation, get cool stuff and hot chicks to be happy. We see politicians who are responsible for the death of millions of people, but they travel in luxury, give speeches and don't seem to be agonized by their conscience.

Imagine if we use it as a slogan for the Russian FDR, what will make the most sense? As far as equal signs vs implications, technically it's neither. The original post I linked explained it well. The Reason is a theory. The Virtue is an action upon the theory. The Happiness is the result. Comparing it to the food metaphor: Nutritional studies = Dieting and exercising = Good health.

Thank you guys. Thank you Thomas for the direct response. I really needed someone to name the things their names. "Cold-hearted manipulative bastard" this is exactly how my wife called me. I shared the story with a few people and no one told me that I'm just an asshole. Our moms spoke on the phone and her mom said Hi to me! WTF?! I was expecting an outrage similar to what my wife experienced. Here's an update. Since she left we sent each other a few texts and she came a few days later right before my flight overseas to get the key. I apologized again for everything I did to her. She said that people don't change and I'm just manipulating her. As she was leaving all in pain, I really wanted to comfort her, so I ran after and hugged her. We stood and cried in the rain. She also sent me a link to the call in show "Intoxicated Infidelity" Thomas mentioned (see below). It's very relevant to our story and we discussed it with her. She has the intellectual and emotional maturity to be able to separate my assholery from philosophy. However, before I told her everything, she said that she is afraid of the "new" me and she doesn't know where this philosophy will lead me next. Maybe I will decide that polyamory is the way to go or I will separate from almost all of our friends and relatives since many of them likely won't accept anarcho-capitalism, atheism etc. Ovi, I agree that we had bigger issues in the relationship. A few times when we were arguing about some minor things I felt really annoyed and thought why I am still in this relationship. Quoting the above call in show, she was the enabler and I did what I could get away with. Thomas, you said that when I discovered RTR I should have told her everything about my past and betrayal right away. I know I'm biased in this discussion, but here are my thoughts on this. Since not many people knew about RTR before we have to start from a no RTR position. I think overwhelming majority of people have some secrets even in the closest relationships. Here's a metaphor. Imagine you found a DIY drug on the Internet that says it will make your skin look amazing. Even if the ingredients and the recipe make perfect sense (what can be wrong with full honesty) it's still scary, so you try it on a small area of your skin first. How should the switch from no RTR to RTR take place? Is it even possible to go full RTR at once? Should you talk to all people you have close relationships with and tell them all your secrets? There is a couple of things I really wanted to get some feedback too. 1) Thomas mentioned multiple times how our parents screwed us up. Can you please help identify the childhood traumas that formed those behavioral patterns in me and my wife like cheating, ignoring cheating signs etc? 2) I have a strange visual perception of my wife. This happened in my previous relationships too. Sometimes she would look really attractive. Other times I would unconsciously try to find and focus on any visual imperfection in her body I can find and that would bother me. Maybe this should be a separate topic.
