Join me in a thought experiment about the future.

When I say no work I literally mean no work. If you want to create art because you like creating art then there wont be anything holding you back from that but it will fall in the realm of entertainment. Just dont expect to be paid for such things. Especially given that everything will be so incredibly cheap and always getting cheaper you wont need money anyway. Even if we grant you that science is going about this the wrong way it really doesn't matter. As I said before where creativity comes from will not remain a mystery forever. Whether it comes from what is commonly believed currently or is completely different once you understand it you can recreate the creative process in the form of 1s and 0s. -

I find it hard to believe that the creative aspect of what makes up human does not come from our brains. While I could be wrong it really doesn't matter. Eventually we will figure out what it is that allows us to be creative. I dont believe creativity is something that will remain a mystery forever and will never be producible by anything other than humans forever. I leave the details to the scientist to figure out. -

Admittedly I dont know much about the subject but I am an IT guy. Anything you understand you can program and I think it's only a matter of time before we completely understand how the mind works down to the last atom. Also the machine does not absolutely need to be self aware we only need the machine to function as a problem solver for science and a producer of new works in the music and arts. These machines will not need to be a carbon copy of the human mind to get the vast benefits im referring to. I would love to live in a world with all my needs taken care of and all my desires at my finger tips. If you want excitement in your life im sure all of this will be able to be simulated in a way that is indistinguishable. I think it will be better than just a little work I think it will be no work because machines will produce more than they cost to manufacture. We will manufacture more machines than we need which will mean society's profits will be infinite. I guess the only flaw I can see in this thinking now that I think of it is that human's desire for more will always exist in which case it will be impossible to know how much of each wealth producing machine will be needed at any given time. -
So I started thinking about what the future would look like and although I know my imagination can only go so far this is what I see eventually happening. In the future there will be no jobs because we will eventually figure out exactly how the human mind works. Once we know how the human mind works exactly we will be able to reproduce the human mind digitally. Currently this is completely impossible due to both a lack of computing power (which im sure we will over come in the future) and because of a lack of understand how all this power works inside our heads. Once we get that going we will be able to take all the creative aspects of the human mind and augment them. Which would make computers eventually more creative then humans. Again the only reason this is not possible now is because we really have no clue how a lot of human body functions. So with the invention of the synthetic brain all of science music art can done by robots essentially. There will also be no jobs because eventually we will become so efficient at producing goods at a low cost everything will be essentially free. Especially once we start exploring outside our own solar system and mining other planets. We wont have to cook anymore because robots will take care of that we will not have to diet because we will be able to consume a densely packed pill that will contain all the calories and nutrients we need to survive. If we want the joy of eating food we can just beam a brain signal through our skulls that will give us the desired sensation. With no work we will fill our days entertaining ourselves and raising children until we die (if we haven't figured out how to live forever). I'd like your thoughts on this and any holes in what im saying that im not seeing. Admittedly the diet pill thing is a bit fantastical but I still do believe that eating for pleasure will be a thing of the past and something like that will eventually be implemented.

I totally get that and completely agree with you on all that you have said so far. But my problem is if stats are hard to find then just say stats are hard to find. Which I do see you said but you then seem to go off and talk about common knowledge stuff. I honestly dont believe Steph is unaware of the fact that black people are prosecuted arrested and jailed more than other groups. He has talked in the past about how disproportionate the stats are. So if he already knows that then it seems unlikely to me that pointing out these very same stats would be the answer he was looking for. Steph's question maybe should be clarified as it is difficult to prove racism. I hope that clears up what I meant by my first post.

Im not projecting at all. I explicitly said "all" that information. Nor did I say I "have to" read everything in a response to an argument. The entire point my argument is to say that he changed the question. Reading enough to understand his point doesn't matter if his point has nothing to do with the question at hand. I will admit that is does annoy me when I see people change the question and then answer a completely different question. If you dont know then you dont know but dont change the question. Also Im also saying what I think happened. It really is just a guess as I did say "This seems to me".

How many times on the show have we all seen when Steph ask a simple question and instead of just answering the question the caller floods Steph with a ton of information. This seems to me to be a defensive tactic. in your response the first thing you do is rewrite the question. The question is "could you point me to statistical studies showing racism by cops". You say "I can identify the history of racism by the police and the entire criminal justice system." and lets be honest no one is really going to go through all that information you posted and I think you know that. At the very least you should realize that going through all of that would take probably more time than Stephan has. If you cant answer the question than dont answer the question. But please dont reword the question then shoot out a bunch of information. Not trying to be harsh but it just seems like you really cant answer the question directly as I dont see any links to any studies.

Agreed on both points

Is it just me or does it seem that Adam Kokesh kind of specifically called out Stephan at the beginning of this video claiming his death didn't have much to do with depression or his financial situation? Watch the youtube video and see what you think.

I would rebutt that and say that you cant point out your children as an exception to a rule if the results of bad parenting cant show themselves until a future time. For example if you have a 5 year old you are raising you cant point at that child and say "see he's not in jail and I beat him everyday". Also people exercise all the time and dont go off and say well none of that exercise research was done on my child so they aren't exercising. My child is the exception my house my rules. Also I know the mental block is strong and none of this will help. But for me I like to make sure I've made a clear argument before I write people off as hopeless. But if what I just rebutted with isn't enough yea i'd give up lol.

I've stopped hitting my children and now I have two new issues.

Im not a parent so take this with a grain of salt but I would say for one yelling isnt much healthier than smacking/spanking. I think it all comes down to preparing like Steph says all the time. Establish rules with them and have them agree to them. If you eat dinner at a certain time have them agree to be there at a certain time. If you are going somewhere with them have them agree not run around and do all the other disruptive things kids do. If they violate the rule remind them of their agreement. If they dont care that they broke the rules just bring up examples of when you agreed to do something for them and you followed through. If you want them to clean up their room and they dont want to just remind them hey remember that time you wanted me to do X? I didn't want to do it but I ended up doing X anyway. How would you feel if I had not done X? Basically the point is they need to universalize their actions. They dont seem to understand how you feel when something isn't done that you ask for. Not that they should do everything. But they need to understand that you are a person with needs as well and that they are the children and are dependent but that doesn't mean they get to do anything they want without any repercussions. And by repercussions I dont mean punishment I mean they cant expect you to treat them like angels while they treat you like trash. -
I think it will be pretty simple. You just have to establish a few things in the conversation. First ask him if he knows of the research does he agree with the findings. Second ask him if he believes that it is possible to have exception to rules. Third as him if he believes that spanking is generally a good thing for children. Then you simply ask him if he believes the science is accurate and there are exceptions to rule then doesn't it logically follow this belief that spanking is good for children is simply his personal opinion. If he says this is not just his opinion and points out other people have the same opinion then ask him is it possible for multiple people to have the same opinion that has no baring on reality. If he says everyone he knows was spanked and turned out fine just go back to question two.
