Virtue Alphabet [linked from another thread]
Delightful Might replied to Matt D's topic in Listener Projects
I love this!! I've heard in old Scandinavia, parents would teach their children the alphabet by having then do body positions that match the letters (so smart, any time children are expending more calories than the grown ups it is good!) Wouldn't it be fun to come up with positions that represented the virtues? Then of course, there's all the research around upping levels of health-supporting hormones with certain power posing: http://www.ted.com/talks/amy_cuddy_your_body_language_shapes_who_you_are?language=en -
Not All Cops Are Like That - Baltimore on Fire
Delightful Might replied to Delightful Might's topic in Current Events
Yes! Yes! You see regular, gigantic punishment of children, openly, on the streets, at the post office, here. Vicious, terrifying. Definitely of the sort that changes gray matter!!!!!! On my street at night there are people that walk up and down beating on things, screaming at each other, fighting with each other, usually. This isn't even during the protests. There is a horrible problem here with hardcore, toxic cruel violence in the families. Thanks, Shirgall. I think it is a weird symbiosis that feeds on itself, Percentient, in that we have American-Irish mafia with strong ties to the police (the white belonging to white-only clubs) that have their own agenda, and the two forces have this incendiary effect. Exactly the sort of problem that arises out of statist forces. J.D. - I have already seen many (they're easy to recognize) "professional" protesters, definitely out-of-staters. -
Not All Cops Are Like That - Baltimore on Fire
Delightful Might replied to Delightful Might's topic in Current Events
We just climbed on the roof to watch a really big fire just North of Johns Hopkins. There are so many helipcopters. Thanks, jzd, yes I agree. I feel really sad. I have to sleep with one ear open tonight in case the store downstairs gets looted and set on fire. This is all crazy. -D -
I am six blocks from where shops have been smashed, we are on lockdown. My street is eerily quiet. All the video feed is rolling in at #baltimore. I am new to anarchy. What is a view as to how this happened? This place is a powder keg. Help me understand what is happening to my city!!

I like reading it, but not so much doing it! I'm with Leevan. Like when you think one of those rope-y trapeze things will be so sexy--I was everywhere, like a scrambling cat on a skating rink!! Haa haa

Hallo Kaki, I will PM you. I am working with an amazing life coach right now who is IFS-centered, and a frequenter of this site. It will be good to have a therapist's name as well. I keep calling it Internal Family Voices, though, ha haaa because that's what it feels like. Thanks for your post. -D

From a man's view, what can women expect?
Delightful Might replied to utopian's topic in Men's Issues, Feminism and Gender
Maybe some women will say not all women are like that, but I certainly am like "that." I have always made out the person I was with to be a parent or god who was in charge of what was right. And when he didn't agree with what I thought I would panic and talk to him for hours and tell him he wasn't honoring my feelings. And then I would call him back and tell him some more. It was horrible. Even after I read Atlas Shrugged 15 times, I was still not independent in my judgment. It was so entrenched, even though I was trying hard to change. I'm not with anyone now so I can straighten this out. I am so sorry that all this happened to you, Utopian. I think good people are rare enough that, after getting our acts together, we may not find a mate that matches us. If you are hitting your "bottom lines" (i.e. have great fitness, well-thought through, expert in your field), then that is all you can do. It will be a good life I think! -D -
Can we create moral choice through lies about ethics?

Hi Sean! I hope you find like-minded people. Regarding weird physiology, I've had a great time with kettle bells and hot yoga. I'm fighting fire with fire. If my body wants to send me bizarre thoughts that don't match reality, I will do the things that make it send happy/peaceful thoughts, like getting 150 bpm for half an hour!!!!! That, and good sleep, and no wheat. Hope this helps! Best to you, and look forward to seeing you in the Chatroom. -D

Tax question
Delightful Might replied to Devon Gibbons's topic in Libertarianism, Anarchism and Economics
(in law school to be an international tax attorney) Hi, it would help to know what the need is for: Scholarship? Optimizing a new company structure? I can make resource recommendations if you let me know your target. D -
Georgia, where the swamps are honey and tree roots turn into alligators. Hi Logan! There's a lot to do here. Come to the chat room and talk to us sometime! I have been treated very well down your way, nice people bought me pretty dresses!! Enjoy all the cool things on FDR. D
