How do you relax after days of battling on social media?
aviet replied to Tudenom's topic in Miscellaneous
I will give that a go. Do you have any examples of using? Any success in changing opinion? -
It's difficult to give any personal insight into the situation from just the post. As Bruce asks: Are the specific problems in your marriage? Or is it just a combination of your restlessness and your wife's behavior? I'd imagine that becoming a Christian in combination with loosing friends and then realising it is not real is probably quite traumatic and likely to be unprocessed as such. Your world has gone from one where you believe in a mystical realm with a heavenly kingdom waiting for you to a world where there is presumably nothing but the physical. The sleeping pills seems like it was a mechanism of imposing guilt on you. If that is the correct reading of events, then this is Milgram experiment levels of stress which have been imposed on you. Seems like you already believe that. Do you have any idea why you might seek emotional connection from other women? Are you just seeking it from one woman? As many as you can get? As for your penultimate statement. It sounds as if you are in a state of considerable turmoil and that it has been going on for some time. My thought is that you need to confront all of these issues with your wife. It seems you have not done that, partly due to her unwillingness. Let her know what your feelings are towards everything you have mentioned here, including the guilt. Say you are willing to make the relationship work (if that is what you truly want), but are unsure whether it is healthy for both of you. I don't think your relationship can be anything other than dysfunctional with these thoughts and feelings festering. This would be a good one for a call-in.

How do you relax after days of battling on social media?
aviet replied to Tudenom's topic in Miscellaneous
From advice received here and FDR podcasts, it is apparent that most people will not receive conflicting information, even if you provide them with concrete evidence. At least not immediately. In my life, I have had better success by just discussing things rather tepidly. I have introduced people to alternatives that they have in some cases shifted massively to. If not they can at least understand positions. If you want to change people's mind, you need to know what has led them to those conclusions, which isn't really something you can do on social media. -
My Socialised/Rationed Healthcare Disasters
aviet replied to aviet's topic in Libertarianism, Anarchism and Economics
I'd not heard anything quite so bad as what you have seen in terms of general conditions. The lack of concern is one of my main observations. I'm not sure what the largest factor behind that is, either stress of the system or that simply showing concern makes no real difference to them? -
In terms of positive things, in terms of EU countries, I think the UK is probably the best in terms of rule of law, skills, business environment and the taxes are lower than other Western European counties. Estonia has some better characteristics. The government there has made a lot of good decisions and it's arguably the most libertarian country in the world. So long as the UK can actually get out of the EU, given the decline of Labour and the Illiberal Autocrats, becoming more Swiss seems more likely than more German (regulation) or French (reckless spending).

Good to hear My town has a set of people who are a mixture of people like him, the vitriolic and others who are so weak that they feel the need to surround you in a damp cloud, in an attempt to inhabit your body, change your values and views and use your body as a vehicle to read The Guardian. I didn't know Canada was that bad. At $1 million for a house, you may as well go an live in Lichtenstein with direct democracy and average salaries double that in the UK. Nor did I know that Lincolnshire had been that saturated by Eastern Europeans. I wouldn't be surprised if nothing is done about the immigration situation. Who knows what deal will be cooked up. If free movement is not ended, that issue will continue to rage until it is addressed. The true undoing of the EU is - once the EU has made a decision, its almost practically irreversible. As a nation the only choice you have to do anything about aspects you do not like is leave it entirely. If they do not address this, other departures seem inevitable. Do you have a timeline for financial collapse? In 2008 I thought it might happen by 2013. As things panned out I realised that the desire of people with assets will be to roll it over as long as it can be. If you look at Japan, they show that rolling over can go on for along time. So I thought it might carry on to about 2060, at which pension schemes may explode. However, now looking at the level of instability, I have no idea.

I'm pleased to see that the most violent, vitriolic Marxist I know has began seriously preparing to emigrate to Canada. Unfortunately for him his destructive and lack of providing value nature will likely lead to his rejection. He has a degree is music and has spent his life loafing around, working bit jobs for min. wage, using the cash to spend on travelling in Europe. This is the mould of the remainians and another reason why the completely unfunded government pensions system will not work. Percentage of government budget spent on pensions: 1906: 0.26% 1916: 0.05% 1926: 5.41% 1936: 3.21% 1946: 0.64% 1956: 6.65% 1966: 9.31% 1976: 10.34% 1986: 11.90% 1996: 14.92% 2006: 17.17% 2016: 20.19% Those 3 million migrants failed to reduce pension contributions, the main reason we are told we need an open door to 440+ million people.

Nationalism is NOT a Dirty Word
aviet replied to n4hpg's topic in Libertarianism, Anarchism and Economics
I agree with your arguments, but if I can get myself a 10% better deal with less use of force, I am going to take it. I believe even Stefan said he would have voted for Brexit, if he were able. One way I heard someone here put it in relation to voting for Donald Trump: "I'm voting for Trump out of self-defense. There is not a conflict of principles." - jpahmad I would say the same for Brexit. -
Nationalism is NOT a Dirty Word
aviet replied to n4hpg's topic in Libertarianism, Anarchism and Economics
Since I was young I was always against nationalism and like many my age was somehow convinced that the West were the bad guys and the third world were the victims. This has gradually shifted with evidence over the years, particularly the last three. A combination of Donald Trump and the Brexit referendum has made me shift from a Ron Paul-type who would like 2% government (if we could get rid of it, great). Its just too idealistic in the environment we now find ourselves. Nationalism is the only conceivable defense against globalism and global governance. For this reason I've decided things have to get muddy. As Stefan said in relation to what is happening, "We don't have as much time as I thought we had." in relation to his desire for a world of reason and at least limited government. It's not going to happen in our life times. If we are lucky we will avoid the biggest calamities to civilization in this century. For this reason, I broke my abstention from voting today to vote to leave the European Union and I will continue to vote at every opportunity for something I don't particularly agree with, but is markedly better from all the other options. As for what you say about your wife. I completely agree. If I go to live in another country, it will be to join them. There will be aspects of myself that are not homogeneous, but my respect for their society, I believe, is essential. When I am in Britain, I will be a British nationalist, when I am in Serbia, I will be a Serbian nationalist, when I am in the US, I will be an American nationalist; because I have a respect for the culture in terms of what they have produced in the past, there relative superiority in the present and that they should be protected and enhanced, not eroded. -
To give you an idea of how brutal pagan societies were see below from the works of Pomponius Mela, written in around 40 AD. Thracians live in the Balkans. One onelie Nation of the Thracians inhabites the whole Countrie, termed by sundrie names, and endewed with di|uers dispositions. Some are vtterlie wilde and verie wil|ling to die, namelie the Gets, and that is stablished through sundrie opinions. For some of them thinke, that the soules of them that die, shall returne into their bodies againe. An other sort thinke, that though the soules returne not, yet they die not, but passe into a blessedder state. Others thinke they die, but that dying is better then to liue. And therfore among some of them, the childebeddes are sorrowfull, and they mourne for them that be borne: and contrariwise, the burialles are ioyful, and solemnized with singing and play|ing, as if they were high holie dayes. Not so much as the women, haue cowardlie or faint courages: for they sue e|uen with all their hearts, to be killed vpon the carkases of their dead husbandes, and to be buried with them. And be|cause the men haue many wiues at once, they pleade verie earnestlie before Iudges, which of them may come to that honour. It is imputed to their good behauiour, and it is the greatest ioye to them that can be, to get the vpper hand in this kinde of sute. The rest of the women fall a wéeping, and shréeke out with most bitter complaintes. But such as are minded to comfort them, bring their armour and rit|ches to the Hearse, and there professing themselues ready to compound with the destinie of him that lyeth dead, or else to fight against it, if they could come by it, when neither money nor fighting can take place, continew wooers at the pleasure of the widdowes whome they like of. The May|dens when they shall marrie, are not bestowed at the dis|cretion of their Parents, but are openlie either let out to be married, or else solde. Which of these shall befall vnto them, procéedeth of their beautie and behauiour. The ho|nest and beautifull yéeld a good price: the other are faine to buie husbandes to marrie them. The vse of Wine is to some of them vnknowne: neuerthelesse, when they are making good chéere, as they are sitting about the fires, they cast in a kinde of séede, whose sent prouoketh them to a cer|taine mirth like vnto droonkennesse. Compare to Indians Some thinke it good to kill no liuing thing, nor to eate any fleshe. Some liue onelie by Fishe: some kill their neighbours and parents, in manner of Sacrifice, before they pine away with age and sicknesse, and thinke it not onelie lawfull, but also godlie, to eate the bow|elles of them when they haue killed them. But if they bee attached with olde age or sicknesse, they get them out of all companie into the Wildernesse, and there with|out sorrowing for the matter, abide the ende of theyr life. I'm not aware of any contemporary pre-Islamic sources that describe the people of Arabia or Pakistan. I don't think it can be boiled down to sunni/shia, as the sunni world is so diverse. At one end you have totalitarian Saudi Arabia with their Committee for the Promotion of Virtue and the Prevention of Vice and on the other you have Albania, which has newsreaders reading the news with their huge breasts all but spilling out of their attire. Of course, religion has declined much in Albania, partly due to religion being banned during communism, but even when Albania was more religious, it was very different. Turkey is also sunni and is one of a few countries where prostitution is legal. I think the previous culture before Islam is a major factor and what form of Islam was introduced there is another. If you look at South America, the level of crime has a strong correlation with how non-European they country is. In the case of Brazil, over half of the country are non-European and non-far-eastern. Brazil was also the single biggest cross-Atlantic destination of salves. About 5.5 million were taken to Brazil, while only 300,000 were taken to the United States. Correlating homicide rates to non-European population: % European Homicide rate (per 100,000) Guyana: 0.3 17.0 <- Largest component is Indian (Asia) Honduras: 1 84.6 <- Largest component is native El Salvador: 13 64.2 <- Largest component is native Bolivia: 15 12.1 <- Largest component is native Venezuela: 20 62.0 <- Largest component is native Colombia: 37 27.9 <- Largest component is native Brazil: 48 24.6 <- Largest component is black Chile: 89 3.9 Argentina: 97 7.6 The homicide rate in Muslim countries is not actually that high when compared to other areas outside of Europe, the Anglopshere and the Sinosphere. I think the issue is that the religion locks in certain dysfunction as holy and unchangeable.

It is certainly the case that there are cultural aspects to traits of Muslims. Of those who have moved to Britain, as you point out, the main groups that are socially and familialy dysfunctional are those from ethnic groups closer to Afghanis than Indians. These tend to have been 'converted' to Islam in more distant times (over 1,000 years). The Punjabis were often 'converted' much later and were originally Hindus, which is generally benign. So the Punjabis come from a different cultural background. I'm not sure what religion the Western Pakistans adhered to before Islam, but it was probably some form of paganism ... yes, paganism and Zoroastrianism. Pre-Islam it was part of the Sasanian Empire. The pagan cultural origins of Afghanis and West Pakistanis would explain why they are more prone to violence and dysfunction. Pagan societies were incredibly brutal. Much of Arabia was also pagan; and Islam (believe it or not) was actually a progressive reform of such societies. One of the big problems with Islam though is its insistence it is God's final prescription, and thus final and all encompassing. I'm not so familiar with Islam in Africa, but from my study I would say the countries that are most prone to violence are 1) Afghanistan; 2) Iraq; 3) Pakistan. That people such as Peter Sutherland are not suggesting it is a great idea to liberally pour Afghanis and Iraqis into Western societies, I find frightening. And his belief that people from those countries can be taught to embrace by Western customs, insane. This loose/open borders threat is my number one fear for the future. At best the West will end up as a two-tier Sharia and secular system with the way our elected leaders are acting.

I have donated, just not via whatever email is connected to this account. I do not see myself as inferior or superior in a general sense; though we are all either inferior or superior in a given areas. In terms of finances, I don't care whether a woman has any. I am looking for other qualities and a reciprocal nature would be one of them. I am not interested in dominance or submission.

Good production. "teach men to be masculine ... teach women to be feminine" - I wonder if the gender roles dismantlers will be jumping on this guy? Have you tried tweeting this to Milo Yiannopoulos? Gays have really got on the ball with this. The Orlando attack has sparked more interest in radical normative Islam and homophobia in Islam than any other terrorist attack: https://www.google.com/trends/explore#q=radical%20islam&cmpt=q&tz=Etc%2FGMT-1 https://www.google.com/trends/explore#q=islam%20homophobia%2C%20islam%20homosexuality%2C%20islam%20gays&cmpt=q&tz=Etc%2FGMT-1 And they have found there are 18 pages of prescribed punishments for them in Islamic texts, enacted in c. 85% of Muslim countries.

I've had fairly good success with communicating the threats of Islam via sending statistics to people. I told one person I know that 25% of Muslims in the UK believe that there should be a death penalty for those who leave Islam and that most people who leave Islam in the UK are abandoned by their parents. He didn't believe me; and I don't particularly blame him due to the general media complacency and it is so alien from the general, bog-standard British person for whom religion and tribalism has not touched their life. After sending him the documentation by email, he believed me. I've sent nothing to my friends other than statistics and so far I've not been called a racist and it has been received. As for it mostly being sunnis. I don't think that has a huge amount of relevance. Many of the ideas you will likely think problematic are present throughout all branches of Islam, with the exception of Ahmadiyya. For example, the Supreme Ruler of Iran (the center of shia) give instructions on his website (leader.ir) for jihad and other backward acts. He also wrote the book Death to America and regularly preaches it to hordes of chanters. The most moderate (from an Islamic perspective countries) are Sunni: Albania, Bosnia, Turkey and Tunisia. Though I think under Iran's theocracy, there is a lot of rebellion. I heard the irreligiosity of Iranian Americans is below the irreligiosity of Americans in general. ---- As someone who is concerned about how Islam is going to shape the world in the coming century, I care little about terrorism. Since 9/11 nearly 200,000 people have been killed by Islamic terrorist attacks, but most of them have been in their own countries. There have been relativity few people killed in the West. My concern is what is called orthodox, mainstream, or normative Islam - the ideas the are held by majorities or large minorities of Muslims. These same ideas are held by 'radicals'. It's just the radicals want to impose them by violence. I'll post details of this in a second thread. One of my main observations as to the mainstream beliefs of Muslims is that what are called liberals (Marxists) and to a lesser extent cuckservatives are very wary of any criticism of Islam, though with some prodding it is easy to get them to say they condemn certain ideas, but still cling on to the idea that Muslims are little different than Westerners and nothing to worry about. Yet if a political party in say Russia, Poland or Hungary started espousing ideas such as: Homosexuality should be illegal Women should always obey their husbands Adulterous wives can be killed by their husband Men can marry up to four wives which are common beliefs among Muslims, the same Marxists and cucks would be crying "far-right!" and insisting they will bring about WWIII. Some statistics: Islam and Women Gender Gap Report (sort by 2015) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Global_Gender_Gap_Report Lowest twelve countries are Islamic 13th is 1/3 Islamic (Africa) 16th is the first non-Islamic country Highest ranked is Bangladesh (62nd) Afghanistan is not on the list, which would be at the bottom by a considerable margin. Need advice on business model
aviet replied to regevdl's topic in Libertarianism, Anarchism and Economics
I like the idea of getting your son involved. I do not have children, but if (hopefully when) I do, I will be opting for homeschooling, which is made easier since I work at home; and will be looking to get them earning money. So rather than coming out of university aged 22 with huge debt, a useless degree, a lack of autonomy and no economic wherewithal, hopefully they will have confidence in themselves and enough money to buy their first house. I'm not sure what would be best, but I have a few concerns. From what you have said it seems like money is a side issue here and this could be considered quasi-charity. From people who donate their time, e.g. mowing bowls laws, organising rugby clubs, running club magazines, they always tend to moan about how no one values what they do and how they can be left in the lurch as their work is taken for granted. I would be worried about this by parents who may think little beyond what's in it for them and their child. Another concern is that you may get some complaints from parents if their items do not sell, or they are disappointed with the level of income - maybe thinking you are skimming. There could be all manner of other concerns, as you will be responsible for children. As you may already know, running a business can contain a lot of twists and turns. People make their business plans and then a whole host of unforeseen problems arise. I would question whether it would be a better idea to work on your own business and educate your own child, rather than taking this route. -
I have been working huge hours on a project that will probably take the rest of the year to finish. To make a good facility to do what I want for and contact form would take about a day and shake my momentum. I'd also have to falp about for 1-2 weeks getting translations for seven other languages.
-
Yes. I could do something like that, but don't have the time. I've penned an auto-responded for people who send these pithy messages. Not worth the time.

I agree, but its a good place to get a broader exposure to people. I've talked to lots of people there that I would otherwise never come across.

Thank, I've not seen this one. -
I like it. The Cameron chorus in particular. His voice really lends to these productions, Mao on the other hand is a whelp. Keep at it. We need a skilled British video editor to fight in the culture war. We've made little contribution so far. There have been many great Trump and US contributions, but few on anything to do with Britain; and where there is it tends to be Marxist. Do you have any plans for more videos? One I'd like to see is a mashup of Independence Day I & II (which is coming out on 23 June in the UK) with a Brexit theme. A classic: https://youtu.be/QoLywiaM6PA?t=1m7s

I can offer a couple of suggestions. One I have met quite a few people I have interesting conversations with in pubs (or bars if you are American), but you have to go to the quieter ones. Some are a bit low-fi, low-intelligence, but you can still have a good talk with people and wider your realm of perception. In others, the clientele are more intellectual and I've had lots of long discussions about all sorts of topics, which might come up here. Though I will admit that I've never really broken through with these people to be real friendships, but part of that is probably because I don't go to the pub often. Another would be looking for local meetups. I've seen several sites that list such meetings and in big cities I've seen some very obscure groups. I've never been to anything like this, but a friend of a friend goes to such meetings in Glasgow, Scotland, and they sound quite interesting. I would say I have 4 good friends; 3 who live near me and 1 in another country. Then I have 4 friends who would probably also be good friends if they had not moved away and generally only come back 1 or 2 times a year. And this is an ongoing trend. The older you get, the more people are likely to move away, especially if you are like me and live in a small town. How old are you and what is the country your friends have spread out so thoroughly in? I would agree that three good friends is quite a lot. Most of the people I went to school with essentially have no contact, or practically no contact with anyone from school. I question how deep the friendships they have made are as they slide from University to other cities and countries for jobs. All but one of my friends were made between 10 and 16 years ago and I think it is difficult to re-create such friendships forged at ages with a different social dynamic and having come up together.

That is a good analogy; and that, as well as most of what you have said is why I like it so much. My favourite FDR podcasts - the ones I have learnt the most from - are the ones when damaged goods call in. My favourite has been delisted on the Youtube channel, but can be accessed via the Youtube video Id: xTdq7DJQMw4 When I was younger, I realised that important learning experiences tend to be at the expense of bad experiences. But I have found I have gained the same knowledge from Stef's deconstructions with the various trauma call-ins. As for Bodybuilding.com, I only go there very sporadically, to the misc section. I've been surprised with the results my postings have had there, which all seem to have come via PM, rather than exposing that they are really a sensitive beta phaggot in public. I would love to hear one of them on a call-in. -
From time to time I go over the the forums on bodybuilding.com. It's an interesting place to visit, which is largely filled with people whose minds are brimming with: pleasure seeking, ascetics, materialism, social hierarchy, abundance of sex and base culture; though there are notable exceptions. There I have mainly replied to threads relating to depression and relationships and have had quite a few PMs from people who were blown away with my comments in the sea of 'brah', 'sloots' and bad grammar. Does anyone have an idea of a good video of Stef's for people there who are seeking relationships based on superficialities? To give you an idea of what a sorry state they are in, this is one of the recent posts: "I need help have no idea what to do(Serious) Escort might have poked a hole in condom". The capitalisation of Escort is an interesting touch. Some others: 25 YO virgin, should I just go with ugly girl to have sex and improve confidence? should i bang a fat chick "to get back in the game" I'd love to hear how some of these would respond with an hour with Stef. There is enough to keep him in multiple sexual/relationship disaster podcasts a day ad finitum.
