  1. I just listened to this tedx talk: It explained how the expectation of an outcome alters the result, citing a study using morphine given by a doctor and the other group received it automatically through a drip. The effect of pain release when administered knowingly by a doctor was a lot greater. If you do a placebo controlled study with antidepressions the patients expectation is changed because he is unsure if he gets the real thing. This would take away the synergy effect of the expectation that the drug will help. Therefore the placebo-controlled result isn't showing the real effect of the drug. How is this bias handled in the studies?
  2. I'm in need for further advice (until I get to read the book) I have a similar idea similar to how Starbucks, or whoever, invented the paper cup. How could I have profited from being the inventer of the paper cup?
  3. At this point in the discussion I have a question. I accept that you owe yourself, but most of the knowledge and skills a person builds on are the property of generations of geniouses before him (their ideas). So if Einstein were still alive, wouldn't he own part of modern space travel technology?
  4. I can't find anything with those search terms, neither in the forum nor in the podcast section..
  5. Will check out the book! I've been thinking about this for a while. The only reason to hold back good ideas I could think of is because of rent seeking, in other words to get a first mover advantage. A lot of my ideas are easily copied, that's what concerns me. For example many of the Google services aren't very original..but Google has this great synergy between them..
  6. I have this conflict of interest of revealing ideas without being able to profit from it. I have a few business ideas but no capital. To get capital I'd need to reveal the idea but last time my idea was just shrugged off..but the point is, I still strongly believe there's demand for this app idea I have..
  7. Nice, thank you guys! I found the comments very insightful! Especially that a contract of course is a pareto efficient negotiation^^
  8. Thanks for the answers! I will go through the given links first to get more familiar with Stef's interpretation, then I'll come back here
  9. I'm planning on starting a company start a company with a friend who like me wants to grow and become virtuous. Is a contract then still necessary?
  10. Welcome, I'm new too
  11. Hello everyone! Looking forward to going through the forums..but for now I have a question. .maybe someone can pinpoint me: Are you free in a free society if your opportunity costs are immensely high if you misconduct (according to some normative pressures) and get ostracized? LionBlue
