Hi, Just wanted to share a thought I had today and get some feedback on whether or not it makes sense. Obviously in so far as immigration is contigent on welfare being available to immigrants it is a policy of the state but if the state is stopping people who would find work in a country from entering it in order to prevent wages dropping is this not an act of force to prevent voluntary association between workers and employers? If a company finds a person willing to do work for a wage lower than those already in the country is the government "right" to prevent this? Surely we should be free to voluntarily associate with anyone even if it is to the detriment of those already in the georaphic area? Is there are moral justification for preventing lower wage workers from entering the work force to preserve the economic benefits that the current system allows for citizens? I don't mean to suggest that this is an argument for entirely open borders but providing a job exists in the country one is immigrating to then what is the moral argument for stopping this as we currently do? Look forward to your thoughts.

Thanks Utopian, That makes lots of sense thinking of the people I know with BPD, seeing it as a form of self-delusion, attention seeking self harm. I think this has been what I suspected all along. The idea that people curtailing the conversation around this issue are harming these poor people makes me feel sick really and I supposed I had hoped that I would prove wrong so as not to have to accept this disgusting truth but once again the world fails not in proving how disgusting people can be. Utopian, I am relatively familiar with BPD. Not sure how it could be associated with gender dysphoria? I will look into it however. Thanks for your input.

Thanks Kevin, that cleared up a lot of things for me. I certainly agree that the effect that the PC police has on the free sharing of ideas is to a great degree responsible for holding back our understanding in this field. It's good to know I am not the only one who does not really understand gender dysphoria.

Hi all, I have found myself struggling to understand a lot of the conversation surrounding gender in the world. I have no doubt this is not entirely my own fault or lack of understanding causing this but I do struggle with the idea of gender identification. Male-identying board members: what does being a man mean to you? Female board members: what does being a woman for you? I know I am male but beyond my physical state I don't really understand what that means. Sure one can make predictive generalisations about male and female members and how they behave but I do not seem to have any understanding of gender beyond this. Am I crazy? This is particularly concerning to me vis-a-vis people who do not feel at home in their own bodies. This to me to be concerning, a marker of dissasociation between one's body and one's mind that is perhaps not healthy. To clarify that I do not mean to say that people are somehow wrong to feel this way but rather that engaging in the practise of artifically rectifying perceived issues with one's physical appearance may not be the healthiest way to deal with this kind of body dismorphia instead trying to deal with the root problem, most likely originating in childhood. If other perhaps feel more attached to their gender than I do this would enligthen this topic for me a lot. Thoughts?

Hi all, Just wanted to talk a little bit about a blog called "Am I wrong?" I started before christmas but intend to post to more often going forward. The easiest way to explain what the idea is is probably just to copy over what I wrote on the about page of the blog so here it goes: "This blog is going to be my attempt to learn something from you. I am not an expert or traditionally educated in many of the fields I’ll be discussing. In fact, history, one of the first subjects I’ll be discussing here is something I haven’t had a class on since I was 16. I do however think a lot about the things I write about here and as a general rule will have read around the subject I am covering. So what is it exactly I will be writing? I want to try to explain (I hope) odd, new, weird, innovative ways I have tried to think about a variety of subjects including history, politics, social issues and others and invite you to do the same. Most of all I want everything I write here to be something you won’t have heard before. Now to your part in this little corner of the internet. I never want you to simply accept the things I write to be true. I want you to disagree, think, criticise, question and most importantly comment about my ideas. I know that may seem like a lot to ask of you but you needn’t be an expert to have something to say. Let me know what you aren’t convinced by, why what I wrote is wrong or misguided or your own thoughts on the subject. In short the more you put into this the more we can all get out of it." Just wanted to make a little post to say hi and introduce myself to the community. My name is Tobie, I did a show back in june ( specifically #2997) about my depression and I am still working through it. Part of what I think I need to solve my issues is more sincere, honest, moral people in my life and nowhere I know of has more of those kinds of people than freedomain radio so I am going to try to be more active on here and hopefully we can form some real relationships based on our goodness to one another rather than convenience. Anyhow that's pretty much it just wanted to say hi and look forward to chatting to you all in future.
