  1. Carl, while your friend may never do anything to hurt you or others, from what I understand, that is a dissociative disorder. Your friend sounds like an extreme case, and people with dissociative disorders are very dangerous. Some people with this disorder do not take responsibility for their actions. This is different from sociopath and psychopath, tho It is possible for someone to have more than one problem, ie dissociative sociopath may go together.
  2. Yes, non scientists do say life is antientropic, it isn’t true. Entropy has to do with the arrangement of atoms, most of life ignores that and burns a bushel of fuel to make a few bricks. Some scientists do believe the creation of the universe may be something other than chance. From what I understand, the singularity at T=0 was uniform and of a precise mass that precludes chance (1st), yet at T=10^-32 the universe (now about the size of a grain of sand) was not uniform (violates entropy, 2nd). The start of life may have required intervention (3rd?), but once life was started, evolution is accepted science. 2-3 interventions. The ability to heal, while a very complex process, does not defy natural law. While life once existent, could have been designed, it could also have evolved many of the beneficial character traits we enjoy like healing, talking, thought, etc. Gravity is not electromagnetic, nor is it relativity. As to the existence of gravity pointing to a higher intelligence. It would seem that the particular physical laws of our universe are based on the size of our universe therefore the amount of energy used to create the singularity (now not discussing the source of that energy). Conservation of energy would seem to apply in all universes, but even entropy would hardly make sense if another universe didn’t have time as a dimension. Gravity, while likely, is far from a given, and matter, magnetism, electromagnetism, nuclear forces, etc would be different. Note, two universes of the exact same mass can still have different laws of physics and possibly be different shapes, but it would be really unlikely for two universes of very different size to have similar laws of physics.
  3. Correct, they don’t use if then functions. Yes, scientists would love to get them to emulate the brain. First problem is we don’t know how the brain works. AIs today are more like plinko machines, not particularly powerful, but much like astrology, doesn’t mean people can’t leave decisions to it wothbad effect.
  4. If your argument is that I should ignore thousands of people who have a coherent story, but trust a few individuals who have no coherent story or I love authoritay! im good
  5. Sounds like you are doing the right thing here. FYI, I bet it also keeps you more sane when you don’t get your child overtired, one more bonus, tho not the reason you do it. maybe try to do some Skypes with auntie. communicating with family, this is really important, getting off his schedule hurts the child and is a burden on you two. He doesn’t like long drives, etc. They may not love it, but if you say it the right way, it may come thru as from your heart, you love your family.
  6. Yeah, once you account for repeat offenses, there is no difference.
  7. Scientists and everyone else in the larger society is not encouraged to consider morality or ethics, because they are actively trained not to by Leftist schools starting as little kids. From a young age children are taught to be passive and defer to authority. They are also encouraged to assume their feelings are the arbiters of good and evil, not their minds. In fact, what is so surprising is how often individuals learn about ethics, a hold over from a more religious time perhaps.
  8. The government is notoriously bad at keeping secrets. Terrorists have struck all over the world. This was the second attempt on the WTC. There is no reason to doubt the dominant narrative.
  9. Yeah, repeating history is more a function of restarting a scenario with the same information, the same players, and same boundary conditions; said like that, expecting not to repeat history is what sounds ludicrous.
  10. AI is a tool. It is far from the powerful tool people think it to be. But that doesn’t mean people can’t give AI more power than it deserves and harm us in doing so.
  11. So confused. Did you not have a father, brothers and husband before now?
  12. LoL, if we are comparing Democracy and Fuedalism in timeline ratios, would both together be less than a blip compared to hunter-gatherer villages.
  13. Matter moves away from us faster than light, but it doesn’t break the speed limit because it is the space in between us and the matter that is expanding, not the matter traveling. Regardless how big the universe is, it is still finite as a finite quantity of energy went into making it. Had the universe been infinite it could not have expanded due to gravity. As to the shape, some sort of hyper spherical shell makes the most sense. A spherical shell is what the surface of our planet looks like. A hyper spherical shell would allow travel in any direction in 3D, but would eventually wrap back on itself. Much like when you travel far enough north you start to go south and then north again until you reach the same point, when you look far enough into space you might be staring at the back of you own head, just billions of years ago.
  14. Goal is Marxism: destroy society by any means so that it can be rebuilt anew. Marxism is their goal, and a functioning happy society would never trade Marxism for Capitalism, so first they must destroy everything. Once people need order, protection, etc. swoop in and say they have the solution, Marxism. Then they can build society as they want it.
  15. The observable universe seems to run one direction in time linearly. Entropy would seem to block time reversal. While some mathematical formulas would allow a reversal of time in theory, nonlinear time has not been discovered yet.
  16. Dreams sometimes reflect what you were thinking about before going to sleep. Have you read stories or watched movies before going to bed?
  17. Life, can get busy. I actually consider myself to be one of the more prolific commenters. Tho without doubt I am very irregular.
  18. Scouts at a non Boy Scouts troop. Little League (if they don’t all get trophies preferred). Even soccer, if there are no other opportunities. Martial Arts, musical instruction... Every time you negotiate with him you are telling him he is an adult. The goal of parenting is to socialize your child, and teach them skills. You must build a good relationship, because if you don’t like your child, you will hurt your child (Jordan Peterson). But other than that, it is building their self confidence by offer them opportunities to succeed and creating a sense of self dependence. Create a hundred Rites of Passage. Not interfering when they are skate boarding is one of those steps. Every time you tell your child you are a big boy now, you are a young man now (13 years old) every time you trust him with a new responsibility...
  19. Women often are the best teachers for little kids. “Teachers” is too vague a statement to have any meaning. To teach philosophy at the university level? Yes. But engineering?
  20. I’m not sure it can. Fungi operate under a different set of motivations, but look the same due to a fractal convergence. There are common ratios in nature, like the golden ratio, Fibonacci sequence, silver ratio, etc. People might have chosen to live in certain locations due to the topology, upthrusting ground combined with erosion creating the fractal, not so sort of natural fit.
  21. It is very hard to assess the situation from what you are writing. The two of you sound compatible and if you want to lock this gal down, say it. Tell her you are interested in this relationship. Communicate what you want and try to find out what she needs from you in the near term. Talk about your goals and dreams and try to remember that anything either of you say isn’t written in stone, if one of her goals still seems off after a few days, then maybe it may not work out. Ultimately, if you are both open minded, good people, jive well, willing to work on yourselves and the relationship, it can work out really well. I think you both can spend some time in personal counseling. I was able to find a place near my home that offered counseling at a very low cost. When closer to a serious relationship, I have heard of premarital counseling, it is a really good idea. Look into Gspot orgasm, clitoral orgasm, and squirting orgasm. Don’t leave stuff like that up to chance.
  22. Chores, develope a responsible adult. They should start by helping you out even if it slows you down, and low pressure offer opportunities for them to do something on their own... Allowance, unrelated to chores, when they are old enough not to lose money, 1 week allowance equals enough for two small snacks/candies/etc., 2 weeks allowance is enough for a small toy (it is always their choice to save or spend, No pressure), 3 weeks allowance a book with change left over, etc. Jobs, you can hire your own child, but it can’t be an ordinary household chore, hard work taking a longer period, etc. They can take on a paper route, help in local library, etc. Allow them more latitude outside the home. Walk on their own to a near friend, stay out later, etc. (unfortunately I must warn you not to violate any stupid laws in your community here) Shooting, very big step up, Go karts, other more important activities which can be seen as manly. strict policy on dating before a certain age... Camping, fishing, building a fire, cooking, age appropriate...
  23. Your question reminded me of a rule in psychology. A nation is a stable community of people, formed on the basis of a common language, territory, economic life, ethnicity or psychological make-up manifested in a common culture from Wikipedia
  24. In the sling is scientifically the best way to care for an infant. It is very daunting in the modern world of clocks and what nots.
