Probably read the argument before you act like a passive aggressive troll

Maybe you do, but I explained the poor thinking earlier, which btw, is kind of bothering for me.

Ah, well this is where people make the mistake about UPB. APA can indeed come with consequences for the perpetrator. Ad Hominem may contain some truth about a person or it may not. Somebody who continually lies is probably likely to find himself without too many friends or allies, but he still hasn't violated UPB. Is the action 'enforceable'. That is the UPB test.

Wesley is quite right to point out the bad thinking here. The point is, if you voted for a manager and I didn't, why should I be managed by him? Politician, manager or whatever you call it, amounts to the same thing. The majority get to decide who services me.

Who said anything about indoctrinating them? Perhaps you misunderstand the Sudbury protocol. It is all child led. There is no curriculum and the teacher has to discover the interests of the children. This is nothing like public or even most private schooling. Parents are encouraged to join in with their childrens day and help the teachers if they so wish and the children can come and go as they please, within safety reasons of course However, I completely agree that you never know until you have the children who will no doubt let us know what they want to do.

In terms of UPB this is a question for APA (aesthetically preffered actions) Hugh. It's certainly not violating UPB. As to which category of APA it falls under, then you would have to be more specific about the parenting history, as well their current and practising parenting skills.

Although I've yet to become a parent. I'm beginning to think that some form of schooling could be very useful for younger children, say from 4 - 7/8. When I took some clases at a local Sudbury school last year, it was interesting to note that it was that age group that tended to look for guidance from me. After that age, it seemed that they mostly got along with their own thing. Only occassionally asking for my help, when they needed to understand something new. These older children would probably get on with their own interests almost free of supervision, which might make them better candidates for unschooling by then. I would like to see an even freer version than that of Sudbury, which tends to focus a little hard on democratic principles, rather than principles of self ownership. They are there enough frankly and probably enough to send my own children there with a watchful eye. I think it gives children the opportunity to explore new ideas with the skill sets of different adults, rather than just my own. However, if you are in a community of unschoolers or homeschoolers there is nothing to stop parents offereng their respective skill sets to the children of that community. The one thing I'm beginning to realise that compared to public schooling, as parents we will have to be very focused on our childs needs and desires. This will be a lot of work at first, as we teach them the skills of independence and self discovery. But come age 12/13 I imagine they will be managing 90% of it themselves by then.

Privatly funded mars colonization!

I'm perhaps a little less cynical, but your post makes a lot of sense for me. I think whoever I did give money to for such an operation, they would have to have a proven track record. If Branson manages to pull off Virgin Galactic, then I think he is probably the best placed person to invest in with such an idea. Whether you like him or not, he has a proven track record for attempting and being successful with new ideas. No way would I invest my money with a bunch of idelogues that have no history with large scale projects such as this. However, I still think it's a cool idea, but only in the very best hands of course.- 23 replies

Oh boy, whilst I've experienced all kinds of sillyness from family members in an assortment of other areas. Thankfully none of them have been dyed in the wool socialists, although christianity comes a close second. I tend to agree with PT's advice. Because the leftist mindsight is one that has been embedded into the consciousness of many a student of the West and in particular England. They will pull you into a quagmire of postmodern, utilitarian and relativist thinking. Appeals to sophistication and self evident ethics, being their mainstay for attacking those that disagree with them. I am tending to prefer to call these people out on their nonsense these days, but I don't think that would be very productive with a family member (relationship wise). So yes, use the moral argument, which frankly is the only vaccine against this kind of virus thinking. Best wishes.

Man, I know this is because of the state, but can you imagine your own shop being looted in that manner. I know after the London riots that many small retailers simply went out of business. Pram - Is an old fashioned word for a child's pushchair.

Yes you're probably right KD, this might well be my most controversial point. But it's not without a great degree of thought mind. Relationships between men and women had been much more symbiotic in the past. Each gender was aware of the others needs and aware they couldn't let their own go rampant. The industrial age probably changed all that as people worked less hours and more efficiently. More resources were gathered and technology gave us more free time. Men's seemingly innate desire to please women allowed them to ease up on previously established roles, because they were less critical for survival. Hence the birth of the nuclear family, which was probably the best development made, particularly for children. Except in the advent of two wars and a rising statism which easily gave into female demands. Not least because their demands were often easier to assuage than mens, until we had the birth of the welfare state and NHS. All of which were led by women's demands and partly by broken men from two world wars. This was the beginning of the end of course as Holo pointed out earlier. The welfare state has now made men largely redundant from a symbiotic stance, except of course women still need men to get pregnant with. All the naturally honed desire men have for risk taking and resource gathering has become less and less rewarding, as women demand more and more from them. Of course I'm generalising here to some degree. I certainly understand that you KD are far from allowing women this free reign of course.

In many ways that's why I'm beginning to think feminists are not really the problem so much these days. They are just an effect of womens better natures allowed to go unchecked. And as you suggest, they cannot even construct a consistent or logical argument. I take the view like Stef did (Forest of blowjobs), in that both men and women are to blame and perhaps more so men. Insofar as men allowed women free reign with their preferences at the expense of their own.
-
Fascinating read SirJames and very interesting thoughts. Yes, I think it's probably going to be only men that can actually save them from this plight. Feminism is I suspect the most dysfunctional end of womens desires, in which men have been letting women get away with it for so long.

Really, you never read a card that someone posted to you?
-
I don't mind the cards personally.. People are often busy, like myself and live far away.. It seems a nice gesture I think regardless of the actual value of xmas itself.
-
Are they really? I know I can be far more wordy than Stefan frankly.. Personally, if you're seriously interested (and only if).. I would start with his philosophy series on YouTube. Post back about any details you don't understand. Because you wont get any traction with this community with the statements you've already made.

I'm gonna give you the benefit of the doubt, because you are a donator. However, it's not unoticable that you have clocked up a -25 rep after only 40 posts, so I'm not holding my breath. Before you wrote this leftist screed, had you bothered to read Stefans 'free' books on anarchism? Rather than making a lot of adjectives, please make some arguments.

Yeah, I always remember a shits and giggles skype call Stef made in xmas 2008. It was very kind of him to do that at what was quite an isolated moment in my life. I'm spending xmas with a great fdr friend of mine, but will try and listen to the show if we're up early enough.

Indeed, except since they want their cake and eat it, they default to all the white knights that fake that protection with rhetorical verbage, hyperbole and of course a form of male shaming. It seems that what we say as men has more value than what we actually do. Men have a great history in helping each other out and improving each other. I feel ashamed of these men that pretend at being men for the sake of a woman. Both men and women have benefited from our outright opposition to the views of women.

I always thought BBC stood for British Broadcasting Commies, because they happily send their customers to prison who fail to pay their bill.
-
I was thinking, perhaps a poem by a woman taking responsibility for all the women that bring up these violent men. They would seem to have more influence on them than the world of other men they will never meet. But in all seriousness men, in the words of Rebecca Watson, 'A word to the wise guyz, don't do that'.
