Obama To Grads: Reject Voices That Warn About Government Tyranny
Alan C. replied to Alan C.'s topic in Philosophy
A characteristic of Narcissistic Personality Disorder is blaming others for one's own failures. The only thing being gummed up is the free-market, which is what Obama and his lackeys are doing. -

Gosh, Stef. I'm very sorry to hear this. It's important to keep your immune system strong. I don't know what kind of treatment you'll receive, but if it's anything like my dad received then it could cause you to lose your appetite and make you very weak. I'd strongly encourage you to pick up a NutriBullet, and I'm offering to buy one for you. I paid $100 for mine at Target and I use it daily. It will liquify anything you put in it. I buy 1lb bags of frozen brocolli and cauliflower florets. I empty one bag at a time into a storage container and keep it in in the refrigerator. I also use fresh spinach leaves, but any leafy green should suffice. Some people prefer kale or swiss chard. One of the most important ingredients is red beet. I buy which ever fruits are on sale: red grapes, kiwi, black berries, blue berries, or strawberries. I also add a piece of banana which helps mask any unpleasant flavors. You should be eating bananas anyway and they're dirt cheap. Lastly, I add nuts. I buy bags of sunflower seeds (shells removed), walnuts, and "fancy" mixed nuts (all raw, unsalted, and unroasted). The "fancy" mixed nuts contain almonds, brazil nuts, hazel nuts, pecans, and cashews. I usually alternate each day. I often use an entire apple (remove seeds first) if I want fresh apple juice or an entire orange for fresh orange juice. Also add the following capsules to your diet (with meals): cayenne pepper, turmeric, garlic extract. I buy these at Walmart. I'm sure others might have some suggestions and you can also search online for ideas.

The answer is that they did not have private property which resulted in a lack of market prices to coordinate production. Central planning is fatally flawed because it lacks information which can be attained only through market prices. A price is not an arbitrary number that somebody decrees by fiat; it must reflect something real and meaningful in the market or the result is discoordination and malinvestment. Sorry, but I can't point you to the exact podcast. I listen to Peter Schiff every day while I'm working and he has been talking about Goldman Sach's sell recommendation since last week. Also, he mentioned that some governments may be forced to sell their gold reserves to finance bailouts which would also contribute to a decline in prices.
-
It's because of the sell recommendation. Peter Schiff has been talking about it for several days on his show. Now is a good opportunity to take advantage.

Libertopia 2013 Who is going? This will be my 4th time. The hotel is having a special rate for this event of $99/day for either single or double occupancy (with two beds). I might be interested in sharing a room to save money (only with non-smokers).

I can ascertain utility by observing non-monetary use. In The Ethics of Money Production by Guido Hülsmann, he noted that, "...the monetary use of a commodity ultimately depends upon its non-monetary use..." (thx to Nielsio). What is the non-monetary use of BC?
-
If given the choice between spending $100 on a BC or three ounces of silver then I'll take the silver. My reluctance is summed up by Rick Rule's keen observation at the 3:00 mark in that video: "I don't have any way to express the utility of that labor excecpt in the ascribed value of a market for BC."
-
My concerns about BC were articulated in this video.

It was probably the result of people cashing out; the same thing happens with precious metals when there is a spike. It's taking on the charactertistics of a pyramid scheme with early adopters making money off of latecomers. I've never bought a Bitcoin and don't plan to.

Happy birthday! The cellphone is 40 years old today Adjusted for inflation, $3,500 in 1983 is roughly $7,950 in 2013. Now it's possible to buy a vastly superior mobile phone for under $30. This was made possible by the marvel of the capitalistic order of production. The greedy capitalists, who are out to make a profit, have brought this labor-saving (and in some cases, life-saving) innovation to the masses. Meanwhile, the central planners have driven up the cost of medical care, caused shortages, and spread misery.
