  1. Cyber Bully!!! See, I can insult people from the safety of my keyboard too.
  2. Are you a psychiatrist? What qualifies you to make that statement? If you think MMX2010 needs therapy, is calling him out in public the best way to motivate him to go? Why not send a private message? Or is it an insult disguised as concern?
  3. The past 2 years I haven’t worked out much due to lack of time, and my eating habits were, bad. I was under a lot of stress and ate comfort food. But now, I’m taking time out and going to get in shape.
  4. You wash dishes for a living; an attitude that you’re better than others is in no way justified. Also, you need to decide what is more important to you, being condescending and feeling superior, or being successful and accomplishing something with your life.
  5. I'm trying to get back in shape and would appreciate any advice and recommendations (websites, youTube, books, etc.).
  6. That’s exactly the kind of purity test, I have a problem with. Do I have to agree with everything Stef says and devote my life to it? You assume that everyone needs therapy, that a qualified therapist can be found, that the person can afford to pay, and they have time available.
  7. My main problem with the ostracism on this board and at Meetups is how this behavior makes this community look to outsiders. Most people already believe that AnCaps and peaceful parenting advocates are nut jobs, and ostracizing people because you dislike their opinions confirms that belief. In addition, I am sadden that a large group of Stef’s supporters are not capable of having a logical discussion where someone disagrees without throwing a hissey fit (I’ve seen it in person). FDR has become a religion for certain people, and they adopt a dogmatic view. Just like religious people who cherry pick religious beliefs that are to their liking (aesthetically) and ignore the rest, they only apply a subset of what Stef talks about. You’re supposedly trying to make the world a better place here, but instead of providing an example of rational discourse to the world, you devolve into a bunch of buthurt children who must punish the nonbeliever.
  8. My Myers-Briggs personality type is INTP, the least social type there is. In order to function in the world I have to fake a certain amount of interest in other people, when, in general, I find them to be stupid and boring. I have to play the game in order to get along in professional circumstances. Am I being immoral? When people tell me about their personal life, should I interrupt them and say “honestly you’re boring?”
  9. To frame this debate in another manner, women are attracted to alpha males the way men are attracted to physically beautiful women. If your woman does her hair up and puts on makeup and a sexy dress for your date are you happy or upset because she is deceiving you?
  10. A pattern, I have noticed, in the world is that women segregate into groups by their level of attractiveness. So a woman’s friends will be about the same level of attractiveness. I was wondering if anyone else has noticed this and can shed any philosophical light on the subject.
  11. I'm not an expert, but here are my thoughts. It's worth a try, but the judge might set aside the verdict or hold you in contempt of court if s/he discovers that you did that.
  12. I agree with above posts. I estimate that she was very wealthy. The domain women.com must have cost at least a few hundred thousand, if not a million. She hired a full time developer to build out her app, $50,000 to $100,000. She left Facebook, she was probably a high level executive there, who didn’t spend that much time with kids to begin with.
  13. Prhaps against religious extremism in general, not Islam specifically.
  14. Relationships are not contracts. Promises of faithfulness in relationships are white lies to make the other person feel good. People have been brainwashed by culture to believe in the sanctimony of marriage; its all a delusion.
  15. Welcome. There is more than one Meet-Up in NYC devoted to FDR. Here's the one I'm a part of: http://www.meetup.com/Best-New-York-City-Freedomain-Radio-Meetup/ We meet every Sunday in Hell’s Kitchen; I hope to see you there.
  16. This is based on coops in NYC. Negatives: 1. Coop board can spend a large amount of money on building improvements and then your monthly fees go up a lot. 2. You are limited in your ability to rent out your unit. 3. You need board aproval to have renovations done. 4. There may be rules against running a business out of your home. 5. You need board approval of the purchaser to sell your unit Positive: 1. Your name is not on property deed, which helps you hide assets from IRS. (you're a shareholder, not an owner) 2. Your name not on deed gives you some privacy. 3. They are much cheaper that similar size condos.
  17. Anyone know of a website that lists all merchants that accept bitcoin (particularly brick and mortar places)? Also a looking for listing of bitcoin ATMs.
  18. You can probably get rid of it. It is directional and built for different wavelength.
  19. I've noticed a pattern that oil prices always seem to go down before elections.http://www.washingtonpost.com/business/economy/oil-prices-plunge-as-production-rises-fueling-concern-in-opec/2014/10/14/9bfd877c-53c9-11e4-892e-602188e70e9c_story.html
  20. The war on drugs is not a trivial issue. Millions are in jail, billions of dollars wasted, and it is the gateway to a facist police state. It also involves a core issue of does the government have the right to tell people how to live their life.
  21. From Wikipedia: Red tape is an idiom that refers to excessive regulation or rigid conformity to formal rules that is considered redundant or bureaucratic and hinders or prevents action or decision-making. It is usually applied to governments, corporations, and other large organizations.
  22. How does a puppet regime in Iraq prove the failure of spontaneous order?
  23. What I mean is the return on investment as a ratio to the capital invested makes it a poor investment choice. For example (back of napkin calculations) in USA you need around $50,000 USD to purchase a property with a mortgage. After you get done paying mortgage, property tax and maintenance you would see maybe 15% profit. Contrast that with a web based biz where $50 K would fund it for a few years (assuming you do dev work) and your profit could be around $100 K a year. If you could build a GUI interface for AWS that makes it easy to create scaleable infrastructure for a web app with no CLI skills needed, that would make a lot of money. I disagree about bitcoin, but don’t want to get bogged down debating it. I would encourage you to at least consider putting in some throw away money.
  24. You should drop out and be an entrepreneur. Starting a new biz will take 24-7 commitment, you won’t have time for school. Check out Kauffman FastTrac http://fasttrac.org/ and take a class with them if you can. College will always be there later if things don’t work out.
  25. Sorry that you’re having a tough time. I don’t think real estate is a great business to get into, due to the large amount of capital needed to get started. Also the prices may be inflated. Some ideas: Start your own web based business. Remember it doesn’t have to make huge sums of money if you do the development work yourself. It sounds like you have the skills and intellect for this. It sounds like you may have worked in a few different industries, so maybe if you think about it you could come up with a better way to do whatever the firms you worked at did. Invest some money in bitcoin.
