  1. Peter Joseph is not as good of a communicator as he could be, his language can make a simple idea sound way more complex than it should be. Not to mention that being rude creates a huge barrier to understanding. This post is my attempt to get the idea across with a practical example. The free market perspective: Let's say I have a cell phone factory, I have been suffering increased pressure from the Industry to cut down cost, so I've decided to automate the entire assembly line. Each robot on my assembly line can do the job of 50 people, so for each robot added 50 people are fired. The goal of my business is to make and sell phones for profit. The goal of my employees is to exchange their services for the means to acquire survival. If I don't automate the assembly line the company will fail and everyone will be fired, if I automate it everyone still gets fired but I get to keep the means for my own survival. Therefore profit is more important than empathy, the less empathy I have, more profitable my company will be, if I have the opportunity to dump toxic waste and not suffer the consequences, I will do it, such a thing gives me a huge competitive edge over companies who do proper waste disposal. Now let's see it from the perspective of an assembly line worker. This guy was already working 18 hours a day and is borderline suicidal, the only thing keeping him going is drinking himself to sleep every night. He hates his job and hates himself for working there, he can't enact the anger he feels on his boss, so he beats up his children instead. Now he has lost his job at the factory and killed himself. His children counted on him for survival but were barely making it while he was around, so in order to survive and enact the anger they feel at the father, they now become violent criminals. Resource Based Economy, a transition Perspective: I still have a cell phone factory, but I understand that the whole idea behind having a factory is to make cellphones available to people and not to make a profit for myself in the expense of others. I don't sell cellphones, I make them to last and give them away for free, I have no financial incentive in forcing my users to replace their phones every 3 months. I have a proper waste disposal system, don't have a marketing department (advertising related waste). My focus is in getting people what they need while wasting a minimal amount of resources, so when the assembly line gets fully automated and production increases 10 fold, I can tell my employees that they can leave and enjoy the newly available extra resources to assure their survival. For the first time in these peoples lives, they have the time and the resources to do what makes them happy, their family lives are more fulfilled now than ever, they no longer feel the stress of the struggle for survival, the parents are no longer absent mythical figures, and they don't have to worry about criminality. People are not going to steal any cellphone from them, the factory has such a large efficiency rate that cellphones are now abundant. In the same way people today don't go around stealing sunshine and stealing air, there's no incentive for stealing phones.
  2. If there is no God, who invented grilled cheese sandwich?
  3. That's right fridolutin, I just find it strange to focus so much on raising children, if you are a virtuous person you will automatically not abuse anyone, including your own children. There are already too many children in the world.
  4. Don't think that having a bunch of children and teaching them to be virtuous is something viable, but if you change yourself, you automatically change those around you, therefore starting a butterfly effect that might reach millions.
  5. Given that you have a perfect governmental and economical system, but people are corrupt, wouldn't they end up corrupting the system? I've long learned in hacking, that a system is only as safe as the people who use it.
  6. "Reading and living a book are two different scenarios." Don't understand what you mean.
  7. If you don't have nerves of steel and the patience of a Buddhist Monk, you will either develop those skills from practice, or you will throw your computer out of the window. The problem with programming is that people think it's easy. "Hey I will start learning programming and by the end of a few months will be able to code my own Games!" If you think programming will be easy to learn, you are bound to be disappointed, but if you stand your feet to the ground, and realize that even being able to do Hello World! is important, you will manage it. So here's the biggest secret you can learn about programming: Any mistake you make will bring you closer to the solution, if you give up you will never solve it, if you are willing to try as many times as it takes, you will always to solve it. You don't learn programming in College/University. The only way to learn it is actually doing it. If people who teach programming were any good, they would be programmers and not teachers. You should not care about language, you should not care about syntax. If you understand programming logic, you can program in any language and can learn any syntax. A language is just a tool, it's more important to get the job done than to think too much about the tool you are using.
  8. If you want to write for a living, what is stopping your from doing it?Do you realize that if you're really good at writing, and people who teach at college are there mostly because they DON'T have a successful career in writing, is there anything you can learn from them that you wouldn't be able to from the Internet? I think you will find that the secret for accomplishing things, is actually going out there and doing them, because if you keep waiting till you're ready for it, or for someone to push you in that direction, you will never actually do it. You can learn more from doing something, than reading about it."Some day is not a day in the week"
  9. Érico is just this guy, you know? A technology developer and volunteer over The Venus Project. Have done many websites people can access and acquire knowledge for free. Book worm that can read as many as 60 books in a year, seriously addicted to work and in learning new things. Always broke and living a very simple life style, because money is stupid. Have no college degree/higher education, except for my PHD over Google Search Institute of technology. Understands many languages, knows none. I try to be funny and write funny things, but mostly miserably fail. Been following the show for many years, read most of the books. Been donating for quite some time, except when I'm very low on money (happens often).
  10. What is the error code you see? Screenshot? I'm not a volunteer here or anything, but probably know how to fix it.
  11. If you learn enough about society you're bound to become an outcast. When you can't unlearn what's been learned ignorance will seem blissful. Reality is an illusion, reality shows doubly so. If you get noticed by the Zombies, they will eat your flesh and bones, and then force you to do their bidding. What your Country can do for you is the wrong fucking question. What is a country and why do I even need one? How can you tell if someone is actually speaking French? If the words "excuse my french" are mentioned, what follows is certainly no French. If you have the flu, blaming the headache solves nothing, the time spent complaining could be better spent finding a cure for the virus. the simple is complex Clean coal... is that like clean dog shit? Answer me this Atheists, If God doesn't exist, who invented grilled cheese sandwich? To-Do list: Make a short To-Do list. The more you know about the Universe, less sense it makes. Operators are standing by? Shouldn't they be getting work done instead? Nowadays it's fashionable to be a narcissist, they even invented a new word for it, it's called metrosexual. Be the code you want to see in the fork. If it's possible to travel back in time, why don't we see people from the future? Probably because there are no people in the future. Obama: The military spends 8 times the educations budget, as a Nobel winner, how will you change focus from war to education? Romney: Wars and poverty kill millions of children and pregnant women, are you pro-life on the issues of war and poverty? Patents are to innovation as castration is to sex. Are you some kind of idiot? No, I'm many kinds of idiot. The only rule in life, is that rules change.
  12. It's basically a sum of things I've learned from personal experience, and people like Stefan and Jacque Fresco. Kind of a hobby of mine to get a large amount of information and try to fit it into the smallest amount of words possible.
  13. 12 - Teach them about not using violence as means of controlling behavior, by spanking them if they get into a fight. 11 - Show the value of respect and dignity; make sure to threat and humiliate them till they get it right. 10 - Smoking and drinking is strictly forbidden, but your small child can take a sip off your beer and a hit off your cigarette, that's funny as hell! 9 - If the kid misbehaves in school, make a big deal of the teacher's incompetence in educating your children. 8 - Honesty must be enforced, if you find out that your child has stolen a pen, beat her up! It's stupid to steal a pen when she could have taken any one of those you've grabbed from office. 7 - Abuse your position of financial and physical advantage, children must have no say in things and have no need to understand your orders, they are there to do as they are told. As an extra measure, make sure to break their spirit by making them feel helpless, therefore becoming too scared to leave. 6 - Make constant reminders of who pays the bills, you don't have a love and respect relationship to them, what you have is a financial agreement. 5 - Do not educate yourself about how to raise children, being completely responsible for the life of a helpless human is simple, study time is reserved for the hard things in life, such as bagging groceries. 4 - Never spank an old lady, that's completely immoral even if she repeatedly fails to understand you. Small children, on the other hand, are like animals waiting to be tamed, so I guess that's ok. 3 - Make sure your child can only become friends with children of the same religion, social status and skin color you have. 2 - Circumcision is a wonderful thing, it will prevent evil spirits from getting into your child. Remember to call it a circumcision though, because calling it genital mutilation is not socially acceptable. 1 - People don't need a reason to have kids, you can have as many you want! There are 7 billion people in the world, with over 1 billion living in poverty, but your kids will be ok, right?
