I have the same bias, so my opinion may be colored by that, but I don't think his views have changed. I think the most pressing issue right now is the threat of Islam and those who wish to spread it through violence; alliances are deemed necessary.

Argument against the idea that philosophers should focus on universals
Tyler H replied to elzoog's topic in Philosophy
What would be an example of a non-universal concept that philosophers could focus on? "Redness" or if nouns exist? Philosophy doesn't determine if Brian is evil but what actions are evil as applied to universal standards. Philosophers, if they wish to be such, should focus on the truth; the truth is universal. -
Here's a quickie that might probe some questions from them. Wow it has almost 5 million views now? Awesome!! When I first started listening it was at a million.

Nice to meet you Jonathan!

Haha that's cool! Yes, definitely those as well! Yeah, the earlier podcasts' content is so fantastic you won't mind the poor audio quality. oh no! I fat thumbed the like button on my iPhone and it gave you the thumbs down!! D'oh! Sorry, is there a way to fix that?

Yeah, I think the system can only be changed by changing the minds of the people in that system. This means relentlessly putting forward the arguments until everyone whose mind can be changed is changed. It's slow, but it can't be forced on people because then we're just another state. People will be more likely to accept reason and peaceful solutions if that is their template from childhood; which is why there is such a large focus on parenting in this community. Donald Trump may be a less shitty president than Hillary, but it's not like the US is going to fall into sharia law if she gets in. Every four years people lose their minds about the apocalypse around the corner if their guy doesn't get in, but no matter who wins the slow slide towards collapse continues and will continue because the country is in a hole it can't climb out of without significant hardship. No one is coming to save us - speak the truth to the people around you and you'll be the one who was right when it all comes crashing down. I think this constant media tsunami of PC culture and race/gender baiting puts us in a fog that there are more people like that than there actually are. That's what the media does, they try to sway the public by augmenting or fabricating what's popular or foreboding. Free speech isn't going anywhere and when the people are sick of the narrative they'll elect a Trump; that may be this time around, it may not, but I don't think our (philosophical anarchists) approach should change. Speak the truth, don't let them pull you into fighting over giant douches and turd sandwiches. Let's get out and vote! Full episode

I think anti-war stuff may be good for left leaning people. Also I first saw Stef on Adam Vs. the Man, but this was the first video I saw when I googled him; it was down the rabbit hole after that. Bill and Ted was one of my favorite movies though so it may be that he just had me at "strange things are afoot at the circle k" (one of my favorite lines).

Yeah I thought there was a weak spot around seasons 15, 16, 17... but 18 was really good and 19 just hit it out of the park and at the rate they're going I have high expectations for this season as well. I like to see that these ideas can resonate so well, we here so much about liberal agendas and PC culture that it's refreshing to see how many people think that shit's irrelevant. I think we are getting to the point where society says "ok, we let you bitch and moan, now shut the fuck up and get a job"

Yeah, I only watched 6 minutes of that video; I think you're right about this YouTuber, but I think he's wrong about the show. Also it seems like neoliberal is a new word for classical liberal but this is the first I've heard of it so I don't know. Matt and Trey are libertarian as ever and to me the season cleverly shits all over PC and liberal hypocrisy. Season 19 for me was one of the best ever. I only thought there were 1 or 2 weak episodes that are still worth watching for a hilarious song and a few decent jokes. The rest were stellar.

Maybe we try to stop people from slaughtering each other over superstition before figuring out what is "redness" or what are "nouns". I am philosophical enough to push that inconsequnetial nonsense to the bottom of the list of philosophical problems to be solved and disseminated.
-
I don't think so because God as an answer deters the pursuit of the real answer while I don't know necessitates that pursuit. I have no idea what this means.

The season 20 premier was last night and they tackled a slew of issues from BLM to PC SJWs to Colin Kaepernick, and of course the election. If you haven't seen the 19th season I would highly recommend it because its been one long PC beatdown and the 20th picks right up where it left off. I would be interested in a review from the Stef that really dissects the satire and why people may be ready to be awoken if they are receptive to this particular kind of comedy. http://southpark.cc.com/full-episodes

A bingo card to play while listening to call-in shows
Tyler H replied to SzymonMarciniak's topic in General Feedback
Whispering "suuuuuuuucks". I imagine the click-bait thumbnails that say something like "Stef is wrong about anarchism/global warming/religion/etc?!? What what whaaaattt??" -
Never played, but it sounds like a good time. Count me in if you don't mind playing with a noob!

"I don't know" is a better answer than "God".

Do you not see the irony here?

Converting a Fascist to AnCap
Tyler H replied to Akashiax's topic in Libertarianism, Anarchism and Economics
Have you heard of/tried the against me argument? -
So if I refuse to participate in a system that enforces the will of the majority upon the minority at the point of a gun then I have no right to decry said system? Participate in the violent status quo or shut the f**k up?

I think Kazakhstan. Makes sense right?

Not that it's the same for you, but what I think annoyed me was when she said ostracism is a control tactic than ostracism, although I suppose context around the ostracism is important. I think most people when they hear ostracism they think of the Amish and other religious cults, not as a substitute for prison and force. Saying you aren't free to choose with whom you interact seems like more of a control tactic. Podcasts 1836 and 1837 deal with the NVC stuff, it may help you figure out why you are annoyed by her response.

Like the hookers and blow they left out? Lol

In my experience yelling and shouting are synonymous and could be used interchangeably to describe either definition, other than that I completely agree. I'm sorry to hear about that, it's awesome that you're aware of the issue and actively trying to change though. Kudos.
