  1. Admire the passion in these young guys, wish they had better direction.
  2. Glad you're here. It's a great place to be honest and open and try to solve your problems like Social anxiety and inability to hold a job. I'm from Ontario, lots of Canadians on here! Welcome!
  3. Welcome! Yes, I loved Practical Anarchy as well, it's kind of hard to introduce to people, they think you have gone crazy XD Didn't the Netherlands legalize a whole bunch of drugs? If so, that's great, less people in prison for harming no one.
  4. Excellent advice, much appreciated. With renting, isn't that bad since I will never be building up an investment on property? Also, I have no idea how to invest. Like do you go on a computer and send money to a company? I am currently enrolled in a two year program and it seems like it's more about getting my actual certificate than actually learning. I am not learning as much and as fast as I want and everyone here is just drinking and stuff. I'm about a month in and not sure whether I should drop out, because I am learning even if it's slow and not as much as I wish. Or just finish the course and graduate. I can also do another two years after this and get my degree, one year would be paid co-op and my parents keep pushing me to do this. So I am not really sure what option I want to do. Awesome advice, thanks!
  5. How do you purchase property without credit?
  6. My big concerns are real estate, saving and vehicles. For saving, what type would you reccomend? Bitcoin? Investment? Gold or silver? Any other advice? For real estate, do you reccomend a mortgage, how many years, and what to avoid? Any other advice? For vehicles, is it unwise to buy brand new since it losing so much value? Should you avoid loans for vehicles? Basically, what do you wish you knew financially at 18 that you know now?
  7. You just described my thoughts, I too would like to know
  8. Hmmm, that seems like a good assessment. Yes, I think agnosticism is either laziness to pursue truth, or fear of it, or both. However, I would still much rather hang out with agnostics than religious people.
  9. Athiesm proposed the idea that life has no determined purpose. Not that life sucks or anything, just that you need not rely on anything for meaning, you make your own. That is a great point actually. It's never like "I am strongly agnostic", it's more like "Yeah, I don't really know... So, I'm agnostic". It's never a pursuit of truth, more a belief in apathy.
  10. This week, I was with a group of about 6 or 7 people. I am an atheist, two are Christian, the rest are agnostic. We were having "Deep life chats" and I'm not like an annoying athiest who says "Your god is a murderer!" and stuff. I didn't even talk that often, but when I did, people would listen at first, but since I did not propose a purpose for life, they were not interested. If I had not been christian, but would have proposed something like altruism as the purpose of life, they would have listened to me. But agnostics only desire to find their "Purpose". So, instead they valued talking with the Christians about a wizard in the sky and his ghosts. I know there's really no good reason for it to bother and I sound like a bitter jealous guy. But it kind of pissed me off that people value stupid children's stories and fables over rational information that is new to them. I felt kind of insulted. But yeah, that's basically my rant. I think Agnostics are basically the same as religious people. They just believe in some sort of higher god or reason and believe everything has a reason and most of the same stuff theists believe in.
  11. Interesting article, take a read: http://io9.com/why-everything-you-know-about-wolf-packs-is-wrong-502754629
  12. My opinion is that it is ok to use the term grammar Nazi with friends and stuff, but if you are publishing an app, it is offensive to use the word Nazi. This is because it's no longer a term just used with your friends, the app is your product and I think i makes you look unprofessional. That's just my two cents but I've never made an app before, so I really don't know.
  13. I think many will disagree with me, and this is just my opinion with no evidence, but I find the whole alpha/beta thing for humans of any gender, to be a load of bullshit. People aren't categorized into two types of personality
  14. I am curious of the indepth reasons as to why you chose to have kids, or why you want them, please give detail, thank you!
  15. My friend is a native spanish speaker, I will certainly give this to him, thanks!
  16. This made me chuckle. "So I lit him on fire and sent him to hell" Lmao
  17. "Brain before penis" Got it, thanks!
  18. Great responses everyone, thank you. I didn't realize the age in Canada was 29. I guess I was really wrong. It's also a relief that having kids at even 35 isn't really a big deal. Another great point, you're right, I have and might do it different than normal for marriage too, thanks!
  19. I would really appreciate all answers to this! Thanks! I am an 18 year old male and would one day like children but am in no way ready for them. I am reading some parenting and relationship books and trying to understand what is and how to have a healthy family. Lately I've been thinking about how so many people have children around ages 20-26, atleast that's what I've noticed. I am 18, I am young, I don't even have a job, car, education, grounded principles, a successful life to share, experience, maturity or anything else and in 5 years I'm supposed to be having kids? HOW ON EARTH do people do that? How could I or others possibly be ready in 5 or so years? I understand biologically it's more healthy for women to have kids younger, is it that fertility begins to decline or egg quality begins to decline? Is it very significant the declination? I just seriously don't understand how people can have children so young, what advice would you give an 18 year old (You enlightened ones out there) on age of having children? Sorry if this seems kind of scattered. Basically how on earth are people who just became adults expected to have children in a couple years? What advice would you give to someone like me? Is it okay to have kids after 30? In what ways is it bad for a child for the mother to have the child at a later stage in life? Thank you!
  20. I often hear a lot of "Chinese is the language of the future" comments from people who think they are really intelligent. I was thinking it over and I do not believe this to be true. 1. Chinese is very difficult to learn in comparison to English and Spanish and other Languages. 2 China is teaching many of their students Mandarin/English/Spanish while most schools around the world are not learning Mandarin 3. People often believe Chinese is the language of the future simply because the Chinese have a huge population. However, their population is all in one area while English and other mainly European languages spread all over the world. So your thoughts? Will a Chinese language like Mandarin and Cantonese be the language of the future?
  21. You should check out a website called www.memrise.com There's a large variety of things you can learn such as an assortment of languages, plants and animals, medical procedures, temperatures in Celsius and Fahrenheit, world geography and much much more. I am finding it very efficient and is actually making me learn a lot. Try it out and tell me what you think!
  22. I have come across that statement and too came to the conclusion that it is pretty marxist. It doesn't respect the individual and labels you as someone who has stolen from society and now owes society back, like you said. And it's not true. Reminds of this week I recalled having been preached the message in Kindergarden "Sharing, sharing, sharing". I remember now that there was this ass**** and I was told to stop defending myself from him stealing my stuff and just share and forgive him. This is not a good thing to teach kids, but it's very marxist. There's a whole bunch of marxist messages in a lot of society, especially growing up as a kid in public school. Reminds me of this book I saw the other day, this should be a better message for your kids: http://childrenscapitalism.launchrock.com/
  23. Is it not true that in wolf packs the Alpha is actually the father and the Betas are the young wolves? And that Alpha and Beta are not issues of competing wolves but rather different authority due to difference in age and roles? Meaning that the way people use "Alpha" and "Beta" are incorrect in their connection to the real life meaning?
  24. A chain is only as strong as it's weakest link (Excuse the cliché), and the same goes for immunity of certain diseases like Whooping Cough. Without people being forced to take vaccines, you will have the people who believe vaccines are bad, they won't take them and will compromise the safety of everyone else. What could be done in a free society to potentially solve this dilemma? Thanks! My apologies, I just realised this has been asked before: https://board.freedomainradio.com/topic/40336-herd-immunity/ I would delete this thread but I don't know how.
  25. I've noticed it occur a lot on FDR, as well as with myself. With myself, I usually only enjoy defeating others in argument when the other person is really arrogant and thinks they're smarter than me and talks down to me. At the end of our argument, I feel happy knowing he feels stupid and that I won. Is this a form of dominance? Or a form of mental self defense? Or simply sadism? Or possibly narcissism? Thanks for your thoughts, also are your experiences like mine? Do you take satisfaction in defeating others in argument?
