Hey man, just do you. Like JD was kinda saying, there's a little negativity from the club here but be the person you want. Red rover, red rover send Tyler Durden on over. Look how you want to look, act how you want, be who you want. If that's a burly mountain goat motor scootin lumberjack then get at it. Plenty of time for Socrates before bed and the fresh air will help you suck it in.

It's not necessarily vanity. I would probably agree that it's true for the majority of people, but when does anyone on this site fit in to that category? So, if we're talking about the average idiot, well, who fuckin cares about them anyway. And then still, they've accomplished a good deal even if they only know it to be game-building or whatever. Getting strong is hard work. It's like why get good at ping-pong? Or Tetris? For its own sake. That's the way it is with getting stronger. Ditto for endurance, if that's your thing. It manifests itself all over the place, too. Like for me, I'm into woodworking and working on cars. When I can bust something loose with little effort or carry twice as much from the garage, it's pretty cool. Or helping someone move, moving my own stuff, shooting guns, changing the Arrowhead jug in the breakroom, helping someone push their car off the road. In a lot of ways it plays into self-knowledge, self-improvement and celebration of the body. Mastery of not one, but many more tools and of my own life. Now, if we get back to the average asshole. In a perfect world, I could just bypass all of them, all the time. But that's not how it is. Everyday, it seems like, I have to deal with passive and active aggressive douches. If they're big, they think they're king shit. If they're small, they're whiney bitches think they can run their snotty mouths without getting told and once in a while try getting pushy. This is, of course, not everybody I run into, but it's like in Fight Club. Every guy wants to act hostile until it comes to being responsible for their actions. Or princesses expecting me get on my knees every time they snap their fingers. Is it the mangina that kisses their ass who they remember? No, it's the asshole at the bar who wouldn't get up and move or cater to their insecurity after he sat and listened to their inane non-conversations for half a fucking hour. They're all a lot less likely to pitch a fit if they think I'm an untouchable alpha or if they think they might get hurt for starting some shit. ... So there's that.

Just to chime in a little on the 'getting into shape only takes x hours a week' thing, it's not so much the time but the actual activity that gets you either jacked, stamina or just maintaining. Lifting heavy will bulk you up at only 3 hours a week, provided you replenish nutrients and get 1g of protein per lb of bodyweight. The hard part isn't going from Dad Bod to fit(say, for example, 17% body fat to 11%), it's getting from fit to jacked(down around 8% body fat or lower and higher levels of lean muscle mass) that takes a little more time and a lot more effort & dedication. All of course dependent on doing it right. Proper form, diet, routine, sleep habits, stress levels, etc. Not that everyone needs to or should be fit, or anything. Just sayin'. From someone who went from skinny and low fat, to Dad Bod, to fit, to getting pretty ripped, I've got a little experience here for anyone interested in my insight.

That's like, between 2 and 6 lbs lighter than I am... ... ... Average?!?! I actually moved to the big city thinking people be skinnier? They are. The men. Most the women I see are just as big as in the redneck town. Unbelievable. It's really depressing. Not a damn one of them smiles, if you can even get one to look up.

I do. Less right now, since the only gym I can afford at the moment is the one at my apartment complex(included in rent). I get some work in, but they don't have the equipment to max.

Bruce Jenner Needs Counselling, Not Support
MagnumPI replied to ClearConscience's topic in Current Events
http://dailycaller.com/2015/06/02/kris-jenner-to-bruce-why-get-married-and-have-kids-if-you-wanted-to-be-a-woman/ Exactly. When you lie to yourself, you necessarily lie to everyone around you, all the time. Fuck this guy for making me agree with a Kardashian, alone. Not even getting in to him being an evil parent.- 120 replies

I'm mixed on this perspective. If it were true that women are becoming 'deeper' then, fantastic! I don't think it happens to be the case, but regardless, time will tell. My thing about working out is like anything else. If you're going to do it at all, do it well. And if you're adhering to that, it only takes a few hours a week to get pretty jacked. Like the most ripped guy in the gym gets in about an hour a day. If he's got extra low body-fat, like below 8, he might get 2. But then, he might bike to work and jog with his dog or swim or something, which is technically a second hobby or activity. So, it's about more than just "abs are hot". Then if we look at the average time someone spends in front of the TV, well, guess what else they could be doing? According to the CDC, 80% of Americans don't get the measly 2.5 hours of recommended exercise per week. Working out isn't necessarily virtuous or anything, but what it tells me about a person is that they care more about their body than whatever the hell is happening on Survivor Island or how some Kardashian's ass looks this week. If I meet a woman and she's read like 10 books this year, she doesn't need to be rock solid, certainly. But I haven't dated many women who are in really great shape and none who read a lot or seeks vast amounts of knowledge, even many who pursue a skill. I don't even know any men in either category. If there are any numbers on those things, I'd like to see them. But I bet they wouldn't be good. This dad bod, according to the referenced articles in the video, seem to be less about a man who is more virtuous but simply a man who is less serious. He doesn't take his life too seriously, eats junk food, but gets a little exercise on the weekend. From what I've read, it's just a desire for someone with a lifestyle without any real definition, no extreme ambition or drive toward anything specific. Admittedly, I haven't done a ton of research or anything.

Some might not like the humor, or something else about the guy's approach but I do and you can find dry, boring articles anywhere on the topic. Which is new to me. I've never heard of this dad bod thing. Being where I am, I see pretty girls with douches of all kinds, all the time, but never considering it was a thing. I just figured it's a desperation move from people afraid to leave a small town. This bothers me a lot. More than I can even clearly understand why. It's like a turning point. It's one thing when feminists and the like demand to be accepted for being fat and unhealthy. If they start demanding it of men too, it just seems like the last straw before absolute failure as a species. In a shallow society, we already know women don't value intelligence as much as they should. But when they don't even want attractive men anymore, where else is there to go? Anyway, those are my initial thoughts. Love to hear commentary on this from the board.

I appreciate the interest, but there's not enough content for a call. I've pretty much said all I have to say about it. These are just my observations. I'm rooting for him, actually. That's what's bothering me. MGTOW is winning. They provide empirical data, which even Stef has also used. The argument has to start there. Insults under the breath, and monkeys playing violins doesn't further the debate and if parenting is the most important aspect of advancing the species, you need to get people to breed first.

So, now Stef is jumping the shark. First he does this <cough MGTOW cough> jab, and now he's playing victim about everyone being risk averse? As he touts getting married to minimize risk in life(live longer, better health, etc, etc.)... I ain't even MGTOW. But come on.

Shame, Self Loathing and Suicidality in early 90's Rock
MagnumPI replied to Three's topic in Miscellaneous
I was thinking about this a lot recently. A couple thoughts: If you go back 25-ish years, you get a sense of who raised them, and how, to a certain degree. So, people who were born in the late 60's/early 70's to parents who were... baby boomers. That alone says a lot. Then, look at the target audience. The hippie and first-wave feminist generation was raising the teenagers of the time, people born in the late 70's/early 80's to a lot of single and/or particularly young parents. -
#13: You've never met one. #14: Don't want one. The only place I've been where there were any libertarian women was libertopia, and all of them were either with dudes, gnar, or just completely withdrawn and thus, totally uninteresting. It's 72 degrees, sunny, with a bunch of cool shit to learn and everyone's sitting around smoking or glued to their cellphone. Being libertarian doesn't make you magically delicious. That boring, pain in the ass you used to be? Same boring, pain in the ass you still are but now anti-state. I'm sick of this condescending attitude that not only are men looking specifically for these unicorn libertarian women, but that we must just be so pathetic and desperate that we just can't attract them. Or that these women are worth just fawning over and obsessing about catching. Bitch, I ain't even interested in the first place. Skanks are more fun, quite frankly, and they don't make lame ass lists. Like on #4 she be like, don't start a pissing match and what does she screenshot? A pissing contest where she put in like 10X the effort of the guy she's dissing...

The Vitamin Myth: Why We Think We Need Supplements
MagnumPI replied to fractional slacker's topic in Science & Technology
Yeah, yeah. Get a better diet: http://www.webmd.com/multiple-sclerosis/news/20100823/vitamin-d-linked-to-autoimmune-diseases Or take a fuckin pill that has no side effects except better health. We aren't all going to go get our levels checked regularly, and what for? I work out, hit 60+ hours of work a week sometimes, I'm pretty sure my nutrition can use a little help despite my best efforts. And it's only $35 every month or two? Go to hell, worry about your own body. When it's as good as mine, we can at least talk. Not til then, though. -
Yeah, guys. Maybe start with La Jolla. http://www.lajollalight.com/news/2012/jan/31/la-jolla-group-still-pushing-for-village-to/

If one were to take a child born to a primitive tribe, at birth, would he incorporate into civilization? Would his IQ be demonstrably lower simply based on his background? I've read a little about the Flynn effect and how IQ's rise 3 points per decade. I got into a "debate" with some coworkers, but the basic argument that just running around in your underwear, not pursuing agriculture or innovation does not denote lower IQ and that a baby taken at birth from a tribe would be indistinguishable from anyone else. My argument was that if IQ were based even in part on genetics, this would be necessarily false, that they would be at least some amount lower. They did concede that they thought IQ was both a result of environmental and genetic conditions. Another argument was that if these tribes were indeed of a higher IQ, what is the explanation for their not using it? Empirically, they have shown no advancement from 100's or thousands of years ago. So, that if there were higher intelligence members they were cast out and left for, presumably, civilization. Which goes right back to the tribe remaining of a lower IQ. Thoughts or critiques. Sources for more info all appreciated.

Word. I got up to about 172, and 12% body fat, you better believe I cut 800 calories per day, and hit the gym an extra day every week. I actually got on my buddies about it, like hey fellas, thanks for the heads up. Can't see my back fat from up here... But it is easy to get caught up in the hoopla, and at the end of the day, this dude is just like everyone else. They all deserve each other. Truth is painful. I mean, I'd be like $30'000?!?! Fuckin A, I'm getting in ridiculous shape. Taking about 4 months off my job, and doing some self work. Mental and physical.

I find it all condescending. Like the idiot who had the 20 mile commute "on foot". Or the down syndrome kid they let score on the HS basketball team. Junk like that always bothered me. Like, if you don't have the ability, pretending is only going to create a sense of entitlement. So what happens when real-life resumes? Oh, disappointment and the cameras ain't rolling. You had your time in the light, and nobody actually gives a shit. It's just a feel-good distraction for a moment. And now these people have enabled a behavior or lifestyle that only leads to more ridicule, without providing any way to make sense of it or rise above it, rather than promoting positive change and pursuit of virtuous endeavors. I mean, I get ridiculed all the time, for whatever people want to find. If it's a white t-shirt, I'm Fonzy. If it's white pants, Cuban drug dealer. Doesn't have anything to do with me, just insecure people who watch too much TV. But see, I'm tall, good looking, funny and successful, so eat a dick, right? It all ends up like this racism thing. It's actually worse to sit and remove agency from this guy, and coddle him, than it is to make fun of him for what he is.

How do atheists explain this? (Genuine Question)
MagnumPI replied to Justin K.'s topic in General Messages
But it's not much of a coincidence, really. Humans invent some arbitrary calculation called a 'mean' and say it's a fair representation of what's going on. It isn't. It's rounding to the tenths, then drawing a line through the data. This has come up on a car site or two, something similar at least. Everyone wanted to call shenanigans on some poor guys dyno chart because the HP and Torque don't cross at 5252 RPMs. Well, if they'd had half a second to think about it, the dude was from Europe and that torque was measured in newton metres, not lb. ft. And since horse power is a calculation, not a measurement, from torque, the intersection rule doesn't work if you change the units. So, taking a measurement, and then deciding how to calculate it, and coming up with a correlation isn't even impressive. It's just a number. There's only one sun they all orbit, of course there's going to be some similarities. Here's one: The sun has a 2.7(?!?!) million mile cicumference. Maybe has something to with why the number keeps coming up. But if the ratio were 2.5368:13.31545663 It would be just as impressive if you're looking for a fable to attach to it. And in all likelihood, the ratio is probably more like that. Rounding makes a 6 into a 10. -
How do atheists explain this? (Genuine Question)
MagnumPI replied to Justin K.'s topic in General Messages
So if it isn't hand chosen, then it's just a coincidence? OK, then. Thanks for the explanation. Another thing, is: http://nssdc.gsfc.nasa.gov/planetary/factsheet/moonfact.html Says that it's a volumetric mean. Not an actual measurement but a calculation from other measurements. At which point we're just drifting further and further from any actual concrete reality. -
How do atheists explain this? (Genuine Question)
MagnumPI replied to Justin K.'s topic in General Messages
The Sun has a 432,450 million mile radius. So, what does that mean? You want an explanation as to why these things that you've hand chosen appear hand chosen? -
There are plenty of good jobs. But there are also plenty of idiots doing the hiring. For example: http://www.indeed.com/jobs?q=controls+engineer&l=San+Francisco%2C+CA And if you go through them, you'll likely find some obscure software as a must-have, and a salary in the Shift Leader at Starbucks range in many listings.

So, the man's a sleaze ball but this girl just needs help and she's been robbed of so much? That reeks of mangina queef. Out on a limb here, but basically, you still want to hit that, and threesome guy is getting in the way. All this other fluff is just that. You know better, but fuck it. She's a lot of fun.
