  1. There is a git repo but I'm not yet ready to make it fully public. Contact me privately if you are interested.
  2. I've noticed the zippiness, too. I think this has to do with the fact that we swapped out IIS/PHP for nginx/php-fpm.
  3. You introduced yourself as a minarchist. People usually put that out there by way of rejecting anarchism. You can't fault people for misinterpreting you there. You did go on to talk about it being a gateway to a totally free society, but I gotta say, that was pretty confusing
  4. Thanks, that is still part of a work in progress. You can accept that for now, it'll be fixed soon.
  5. We should be all back up. Please let me know if something is broken. For example, I just remembered I need to test mail.
  6. The state depends on the initiation of violence. That is why it is evil. If you have some sort of concept for organizing a society that does not rely on the initiation of force, I'm all ears. The second you introduce coercion, you've lost The Game.
  7. I will set up an alternate "Volume 6" later for those that are interested. The "Volume 6" feed is now the "Most Recent" feed. This is so we don't have to change the feed XML in iTunes and lose all of our ratings. (and bump!!)
  8. Everybody!!! Just so you're aware, I will be putting the board into maintenance mode around 6pm MDT this evening. The site is moving servers and the smoothest way to transition is to go into maintenance for a few hours. You won't be able to post or register, and the chat will also be down. Things should be back up and running later in the evening.
  9. Why play these games? If people find the show valuable and want the message to continue, they should donate. If they don't, it's a burden on their conscience.
  10. Oh, sweet! You're redirecting your domain I would think that we could do a registration transfer at no cost to you if we were the ones transferring the domain. Email Mike at [email protected] and copy me at [email protected] and we'll figure this out offline.
  11. Well, we don't own it... and its owner is private. Mike! Shall we attempt to procure said domain?
  12. Some people use it as an emotionally loaded pejorative when the police are doing something they don't like. By the definition dsayers provided, the USA has become increasingly fascist over my lifetime, if not three times that long.
  13. His self-righteous protestations of compassion are a clue.
  14. Your protestations of compassion ring somewhat hollow, at least for me.
  15. "Getting fired" as a parent doesn't just mean having the children taken out of the home. I was primarily thinking of, once the child grows up to be an adult, they can choose to not associate with their parents if they were bad people.
  16. http://board.freedomainradio.com/topic/23092-debating-upb/ Not sure I read what you're talking about in that post...
  17. Language is not nearly that subjective. It is also incumbent on the person doing the communicating that he communicate clearly and unambiguously, and with empathy for his audience.
  18. The chat isn't a good place for philosophy, nor is the board. Philosophy can really only happen in a real-time conversation which contains emotional input. Text completely strips that from the conversation. It's also the case in chat and forums that anyone can come in and torpedo the conversation, whether it be by name-calling, or trivialities, or whatever.I'm guessing that whoever called you pretentious and arrogant might be less likely to do so if they were actually talking to you. In any case, the major rule of the chat is that empathy is required to use it. That includes a recognition that emotional content is very difficult to discern and often needs to be communicated directly, and that name-calling without evidence or explanation is very much discouraged. I don't have the full story, of course, but people shouldn't be acting like that in the chat. Some people also use the chat as a way to avoid doing self-knowledge work. A consistent pattern of this will sometimes result in a loss of chat privileges. If you could contact me privately with further details so I could look into this, I'd appreciate it.
  19. Or, at the least, prick their awareness with a modicum of the shamefulness of their behavior.
  20. It is a failure to process reality to complain to people who cannot process reality that they are not processing reality.
  21. A negative thought is serving a purpose. "Think like somebody's listening," is important, but it's only one piece of the puzzle. Listen to your thoughts with curiosity. They are trying to tell you something. If they keep saying the same things, you haven't yet gotten the message.
  22. I don't think there's anything wrong with mothering compared to a having a job. It's actually quite appropriate--you have responsibilities, you get compensated for doing so, and there are goals and rewards at the end of it, if you've done your job well. And, you can also be fired if you've done a poor job. Being a parent is the most important job you'll ever have. It is also completely voluntary, so not everybody needs to be a parent.
  23. Gonna unpin and lock this thread, don't want to confuse people about the streamer being down.
  24. The streamer computer itself is connected and serving to the backup stream, but not yet the main one. The main stream will be serving as soon as it gets the updated DNS info.
