  2. Hi all I've become a big fan of Stefan's podcasts over the past 6-12 months. He, along with other prominent thinkers, has opened my eyes to powerful ways of viewing the world. I've attempting to start contributing some ideas of my own. I feel like I am merely pulling ideas of intellectual 'giants', but it has been fun nonetheless. I've been doing this primarily on the blockchain blogging site steemit.com. It's a great concept and I recommend supporting the platform. My latest piece on there is titled 'The Case for Freedom - Welfare Edition' Feel free to check it out Cheers Ryan
  3. Note: As I typed this out I quickly realized I wasn't typing out an argument so much as a rant. Therefore I decided to post in the Self Knowledge section since I'd rather steer this into something more personally fulfilling and inspiring as I can't see this as being something worth arguing on an objective level. I have a very simple question: Which do you, the reader of this post, prefer? Or, which is the better of two evils? Incoming Islam or existing Statism? On one hand my religion and culture will be annihilated and I will be forced into slavery if I do not convert and join the horde, on the other I will be a lifelong tax serf for the Welfare-War-State and an ungrateful 50% whom receive portions of the money looted from me. On one hand women are under a true patriarchy, which I'd say as a man is greatly preferred to the matriarchy of the Welfare-Warfare-State (which I will abbreviate as WWS for simplicity). Considering these factors I'm tempted to either throw up my hands and say "screw it--they both suck. I'd rather wait for the inevitable meltdown to occur and join the side most aligned with my self interest" or give preference to he Muslims since as a man I'd be better off with them than the WWS. Maybe I'm just salty because male slavery in the West has gotten me pissed off again, maybe I have a point in saying Islam is slightly better than the WWS, or maybe I'm completely overlooking the benefits of the WWS (like hobbies to escape reality and the ability to join the White Flight out of the ghetto)...but I know I have point in suggesting that as a man Islam is better than the WWS. I'm not arguing that Islam is better than the West because any idiot would know otherwise. The West is the Best. However the West had died decades ago. Now the Occident is some disgusting degenerate dystopia on the Slow Train to Nowhereland. Am I the only one tempted to grab a Koran and join the heathens? Am I missing something vital (like the likelihood of my decapitation by association? Which frankly isn't a big minus given how shit life is likely to be for me anyway)?
  4. Hi, Just wanted to share a thought I had today and get some feedback on whether or not it makes sense. Obviously in so far as immigration is contigent on welfare being available to immigrants it is a policy of the state but if the state is stopping people who would find work in a country from entering it in order to prevent wages dropping is this not an act of force to prevent voluntary association between workers and employers? If a company finds a person willing to do work for a wage lower than those already in the country is the government "right" to prevent this? Surely we should be free to voluntarily associate with anyone even if it is to the detriment of those already in the georaphic area? Is there are moral justification for preventing lower wage workers from entering the work force to preserve the economic benefits that the current system allows for citizens? I don't mean to suggest that this is an argument for entirely open borders but providing a job exists in the country one is immigrating to then what is the moral argument for stopping this as we currently do? Look forward to your thoughts.
  5. Hi for the past few months I've been lying about my income to illegally receive welfare payments. my rationale is that there are millions of unproductive leeches who do nothing and receive these benefits, regardless of what I do, and there are millions more willing sheep who happily pay their taxes to support the state, that includes welfare payments. I have no moral obligation to a state I oppose and so see no problem in taking advantage of the system wherever possible for personal gain. Am i missing something?
  6. So I was reading confiscation and the homestead principle by Rothbard, in which among other arguments in favor of workers cooperatives and nationalization, he gives an interesting example that could be used as justification for government welfare programs: "Suppose, for example, that A steals B’s horse. Then C comes along and takes the horse from A. Can C be called a thief? Certainly not, for we cannot call a man a criminal for stealing goods from a thief. On the contrary, C is performing a virtuous act of confiscation, for he is depriving thief A of the fruits of his crime of aggression, and he is at least returning the horse to the innocent “private” sector and out of the “criminal” sector. C has done a noble act and should be applauded. Of course, it would be still better if he returned the horse to B, the original victim. But even if he does not, the horse is far more justly in C’s hands than it is in the hands of A, the thief and criminal." Applied to welfare, B is the owner of the wealth, A is a joint of both the state and privileged groups, in which the privileged group Aa uses its privilege to steal B's wealth which is then stolen again by the state Ab, and then demanded by a welfare recipient C. C is also B in turn, he both gives and receives. Only those who take more than they receive are bad (group A). I know, involuntary taxation is bad, no one denies that. But in the absence of preventing the thief, is a third party stealing back better?
  7. I speak with Louise Koch as we contrast the claims that the Danes are some of the happiest people in the world with real life experiences. Louise, aka "Fruity Lou", is from Denmark and we struck up a conversation about a meme that makes the connection between the happiness of the Danes and their extensive welfare state. But are things really as good as the propaganda suggests? I had to interview her to find out more and do some research of my own. The research institutions that produce happiness reports are funded by governmental agencies and of course they tell us that government intervention helps to make people happy. 8. This thread is for information regarding a presentation on "The Fall of Germany - Coming Catastrophes in the German Economy". Please feel free to post interesting facts/statistics (preferably in bullet form) with links to the source material below. Michael asked me if I would like to put the presentation together, and I am happy to do so. Michael: “Basically, it's just a massive overview of the entire economic and social landscape of the various countries, the positives, the negatives and a future forecast based on current trends. Germany is our 5th biggest market, and we've already done videos on the top four markets.”
  9. A common objection against anarchy is: Who will take care of the poor? The response might be: The free market will provide much more wealth, and for that reason, help the poor. But even then, there will always be people that are unable to earn a living because of sickness or other disabilities. These people will depend on voluntary donations from others. But many people would like more assurance that indeed other people will help them in time of need. It is possible in a free society to provide this assurance as well. And we do not have to wait for anarchy to arrive, to show this is true. This brings me to the idea of a libertarian trust fund for the poor. It could function as follows: - People transfer money to the trust fund voluntarily. - When anarchy arrives, it is contractually required that the money is transferred to the poor, in some predefined way. - As long as the state persists, the money in the trust fund is invested, and after a predefined number of years, released back to the original owners with interest. People could voluntarily replace it with new money. - There could be multiple competing trust funds with different pay-out rules, different investment strategies, etc. Possible benefits: - It could be referred to in debates to show that anarchists are willing to give to the poor when not forced to. - It could provide some level of assurance for the case we or others would be poor in a situation of anarchy. - It could show people that there are viable ethical alternatives for state welfare programs, providing the same level of assurance, demonstrating the state is redundant. - It could be made sure the money is not directly invested in NAP-violating state projects. I would be interested in hearing your opinion about this.
