Good points made. I to this day wrestle with anxiety when performing live. I do recognize events in my history that trigger this feeling which allows me to push through but the feeling itself is quite stubborn. I wonder if some things are so embedded in the body that we can only carry on in spite of them.

Your existence is a threat to me.
DCLugi replied to DCLugi's topic in Libertarianism, Anarchism and Economics
It sounded absurd but I think his argument was that not sharing is the same threat as forcing to share. -
Your existence is a threat to me.
DCLugi replied to DCLugi's topic in Libertarianism, Anarchism and Economics
It was his idea that a person in a coma or a baby or any life form is a threat simply by needing limited resources. Basically he was implying that stealing at gunpoint is no different than needing food to live. -
While making the case that someone threatening me with force is simply immoral I was asked to consider the idea that my very existence was by nature a threat to everyone else given our limited resources and that this in turn justified a system of wealth distribution for equality. When I pointed out the gun it was then suggested that we are all guns. Is this a cue to stop the dialogue and go my merry way or a chance to unpack this further. What say you all?

I don't want to squash the spirit of this but principles are either valid and seen as such or they are not. Do your christian and muslim friends understand the logic behind upb or simply believe that murder is wrong? Would the task be to make a case for upb to all religions? Wouldn't that be asking them to not believe what they believe?

Clinical Psychologist who specializes in trauma believes in God
DCLugi replied to stigskog's topic in Atheism and Religion
She does admit that her god doesn't care for his creation and can do what he wants with them. Not what you'd want to hear from a parent. -
The south park lads are Alan Watts fans and have some interesting videos. It is no measure of health to be well adjusted to a profoundly sick society. -Jiddu Krishmamurti anyone?

Martial Arts training as a means of Self Knowledge.
DCLugi replied to Zelenn's topic in Self Knowledge
I was pretty heavy into martial arts for a long time for a few reasons. I realized after some self searching that it was a way for me to control violence that was otherwise out of my control as a child. I did find that some of what Bruce Lee said inspired me to question things. Lee was a big proponent of individual over style or system and to not get lost in the mystical illusion that casts a fog on simple truths. Just as Stef upsets the folks who cling to their political or religious doctrine Lee ruffled the feathers of many traditional martial arts teachers. -
Perhaps for the sake of the surrounding people but never to get an honest answer from the Lord and Master.

Philosophy deals with reality. Otherwise, here's a thought experiment. Let us say that I can fly. Does that mean the law of gravity is false?

Hello Patti. Hope you find some useful bits of creamy wisdom here.

Corporations voluntarily fund lawmakers to violate the nap in our current system so what you're describing as an anarchic society is not one I would advocate. A state or stateless society is simply one either with or without violence. The task is to recognize and eradicate violence as a solution and this is done by not teaching violence to the next generation.

Is that to say that before Jesus god's law was highly immoral and didn't Jesus claim to be god? Cheers.

Thanks for responding. Are you raising these questions to bring clarity to my original post? How does one add a tag? Cheers. Great. I'm making an effort to express it as clearly as possible but sometimes me not talk so goodly with word stuff:)

Sorry I should have been clearer. "This is where it fails" refers to murder being moral. I'm arguing for UPB and wondered if this was a good way to express it.
