  12. In psychology, the term "arrested development" was used to refer to a person with impaired cognitive development. A person would age and appear adultlike while retaining the reasoning ability of a child. It didn't mean that they were mentally retarded; they simply lacked life experience or were raised in an environment which didn't foster growth. Although the video was likely produced by an adult, it was conceived by the mind of a child or adolescent.

  14. How do they know that their experiences were supernatural rather than natural? They'd need a frame of reference to distinguish natural from supernatural. If something is inexplicable does that automatically mean that it's supernatural? It isn't unreasonable to say that they're all mistaken. Everyone used to be mistaken about the Earth being flat.

  18. Obamacare May Cost Small Business 'Whiners' 65% of Annual Profits In other words, eat the 1/8 loss of profits and shut up about it. But unlike Five Guys, Baked in the Sun facing a loss of up to 2/3 of their annual profits, meaning they will almost certainly be forced to raise prices. I pointed out on Twitter that it was weird Yglesias hadn't said anything about Baked in the Sun and his response was that he'd already said all he had to say. The cost of compliance and the potential loss of revenue from smaller competitors--it's all irrelevant. Just stop whining, he explained. When people complain about increased prices and job losses, I wonder if Matt Yglesias will call them whiners.
  19. Diseconomies of scale, and the dissociation of internal transaction costs from market prices, would impose a natural upper limit on firm size. Massive firms would become uncompetitive with smaller, nimbler firms with localized knowledge. Concern about firms growing too large and dominating the market is unwarranted in my opinion. I think that a greater concern is the corrupting influence of State intervention into the market (eg. price distortions, barriers to entry).
  20. Firms would exist; corporations wouldn't. A corporation is a grant of State privilege which accords legal indemnity.

  25. I don't know much about BC either, and I'm still very skeptical about it. The opinions expressed in this YT video articulate some of my concerns. After encountering some users with Windows 8, I seriously considered Linux (specifically Ubuntu). Although I messed around with Red Hat in the late 90s, I never considered using it in a production environment until now. Microsoft also put the Metro interface on Server 2012 which is unbelievable.
