  1. *eye roll* Can someone talk to Steven so he can stop calling himself a libertarian? Please. Video has some information on marijuana, but it's all lost behind statist bleating and elitist asshole-ry.
  2. What was it in Rastlin that you found empathy in?
  3. Celebrate you: To show appreciation, and to return the joy and whatever value you give to others via gifts, surprises, and company. The day of your birth is the day you came into the world, and we are celebrating that- and you! Yes, acts of virtue and achievements should be celebrated, absolutely. However, had you not been born, your friends would not have you in their lives, giving them the experience and value of you as a human being. The celebration of the day of your birth gives all who care about you an opportunity to express how they appreciate you all at once. Yes, if they are good friends/family they will do this anyways throughout the year. But schedules, distance, jobs, etc make it difficult for some to show this in a satisfying manner for all parties, so birthdays make it convenient and fun. Family Cult and Birthdays: Sociopathic and unattached family/friends will use the above mentioned birthday as a way to fake their affections for you. Buy you off with gifts, and buy you off the one day in the year so they have a way feigning their appreciation of you. It also can go the other way too- some will bully others with their own birthday. "You didn't come to my birthday party- you aren't a real friend!" Birthdays and Friends: Friends and those family members who aren't part of the cult will genuinely express themselves on your holiday. The gifts will be more meaningful, they will lift your spirits or maybe even treat you to an amazing time somewhere- to thank you for bringing them value. The distinction lies in the individuals attending. To the cultists: they eat your cake, watch you open gifts, then gtfo. Your real friends will spend the whole night with you, as much time as they can with you before they go back to the real world again.
  4. Utopian, can you empathize with fictional characters? Do you feel their loss, or their anger, or their joy etc when you consume visual media?
  5. Oh man, you're right on. Thank you for the perspective, tbh I never really thought that far ahead in terms of just how much the state would profit off of drug legalization. Go figure..
  6. Elliot Hulse has some great material on this, and has been interviewed by Stefan before! Highly recommend checking out his stuff too Hope this helps!
  7. Man, everything about this story hits me hard. You can see in his eyes even in the passive still on the video- the loneliness he is experiencing. It rings loud and clear in his story: Getting plastered beyond belief- alone. Probably to escape the suffering he is feeling inside, especially considering his girl being on the other side of the planet. Talking to strangers, and particularly becoming attached to a random vagrant, to the point where he chases him, desperately seeking a connection; some kind of company. Playing with the lions- spitting on cops and acting out in the jailhouse... oh man. I empathize with him deeply, there's a lump in my throat right now typing about it. Have you seen the videos of his "I'm Sorry Tour" ?
  8. I felt like I couldn't hear her heart behind her words, I didn't hear a smile in her voice at all until perhaps towards the end
  9. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jtAkNf_b_TM Shia's story was horrifying to me. His story of plunging himself further and further into alcoholism and neurotic behavior isn't funny, and it saddens me to see him on display like this, like some kind of clown.
  10. Chillhop anyone?
  11. Agreed. You can hear the cold heart of the mom through her voice.
  12. Even so, I think the island would find a way to live, one way or another. The opportunities are just too great
  13. Jerry Miculek is a beast.
  14. Birthdays are for others to celebrate you, and it makes sense as a sort of holiday because not everyone may be able to make it out to you all the time. On my girlfriend's side, holidays and birthdays are a big deal because her family and friends are spread out all over the states, all with their own families and kids- so irl time with each other is precious. In the cult of the family, birthdays are a great facade. But amongst friends, it's entirely different.
  15. Energy sounds like it would be easy, there's lots of places to start that science and technology haven't explored yet. Wind power, hydro power, and geo-thermal heating are all at our disposal. Funding it could be a cinch too- get companies to invest in your island and offer them services! The island could be a shelter, a bank, a vacation spot, a mass storage facility- there are so many options!
  16. I felt the same way. Kokesh is a "shallow" libertarian in that he doesn't push the boundaries of philosophy and self knowledge much further than arbitrary law. I was with him until he got to how he points out that the state emotionally manipulates people (which is true) yet the whole point to he new enlightened approach is to sway people with your happy, joyful emotions. Doesn't seem universal to me.
  17. What are your thought forum on his latest speech?
  18. Still though, is it better to smoke in hiding? Or to buy off the American mob with taxes? Besides, if one is thrifty you could just grow your own and not pay the 65% until they make you get a license or something
  19. Even if there isn't, it's possible that one could. You see this a lot in fiction; for example Vibranium in the Black Panther comics, or even Rearden Steel in Atlas Shrugged. If it were to happen, so long as the NAP is respected, I don't see an issue with it at all
  20. Oh man Kevin, I wish you wouldn't downplay and belittle the systems you've set up for your journey through self-knowledge. How to grade self knowledge tools: Does it work? If answer is "yes" then it works and that's it lol Great video though, I liked that it had vlog and instructional elements in it, keep innovating!
  21. Fugazi is fucking awesome! One of the greatest performances of the Dead Weather, ever. The emotions brings the feels
  22. This is wonderful While furry fandom doesn't spin my gears, I greatly empathize with furries because I empathize more easily with cartoons and anime than with people
  23. I don't know too much about it myself, but I've met a couple furry's myself out here in Arizona, and they all struck me as odd, or dysfunctional. My theory is it might have something to do with a channel for empathy- since it's much easier for most to empathize with animals than people. Marrying the two concepts may be an unconscious survival mechanism to keep sane, after leaving or during living in a traumatic environment.
  24. Define depend? Which relationships are we talking about here?
