Not so current anymore, but I think its important enough since it was/is used to fire up racism and take guns. Finder's youtube video. Another video explaining how to open up the document on the government website. The actual document. Here is a youtube search for charleston shooting/drill crisis actors. I had seen some pointers of it being staged before, but not enough to convince me. I came across this now, so thought its important to share, not just for this event, but for future events as well, as drills on the same day and location is a trademark of staged events.

I am wondering what Joe was doing that made him deserve to live there in the eyes of the other 2. Having new people around will make you forget about those people. This should diffuse your built up anger, which will in turn lower the negative feeling you have.

Allison Randal's "Philosophy of Free Software" (from DebConf 15)
A4E replied to shirgall's topic in Philosophy
I don't really understand how this is an issue, or a topic at all. BTW, she lost me at around 29 minutes. For example, how is software different from books? Books can be regarded as a utility as well, as they can tell you how to do things. And where does the line go in regards to what is regarded as a utility? I could use the movie The Matrix to build a religion to banish smart robots, so is that movie a utility and I can do whatever I want with it? My philosophical perspective is that one individual do not want to be stolen from or harmed, which means everyone implicitly agree that we need a society that does not steal from or harm us. Which means that in order to have a peaceful society we need to ostracize people who act in a way that will steal from or harm people. I have created lots of software and games, and some of it I have probably spent a 1000 hours on. The notion that everyone should perhaps be allowed to redistribute it however they want, if I want to sell it, is very unfair in my eyes. Though I am currently handing out a free game. -
Thanks. Most people think we need reflectors, but now you provided a link to a page which clearly states that we don't need any reflectors to measure distance to the moon.

Ok, remember that you accept Occam's Razor. 2 theories on how those images were made: Theory nr 1 - One guy spent 2 hours rotating a 3D object purporting to be earth in any 3D gfx program, then rendering out those images. The next 2 hours he carefully pasted/drew an image purporting to be the backside of the moon on top of each rendered image. Theory nr 2 - X amount of people, working X amount of time to build a satellite, then spending more time with other people to be able to launch it into space, and then have it go and stay and orbit in a specific 'position' in space, and then have a camera on the satellite be able to capture the earth and the moon very crisply without any distortions. You accept Occam's Razor, so from now on I expect you to accept the least complicated theory of how the images were made, which involves that the animation does not represent anything real. I implore everyone to stay away from this Occam's Razor nonsense, because it can be molded to fit any opinion.

When I clicked on the video, without knowing what it was ment to be, I instantaneously saw that it was made on a computer. I've worked with heaps of software and made tons of computer graphics, so I automatically recognize this one as computer made. Then I see that it is supposed to be real. OMG!! LOOOOL!! There is an enormous reason to disable comments on the video then yes! Is that video really from nasa???? Seriously?

Request: Honest feedback about some videos I've made
A4E replied to Shea Roberts's topic in Miscellaneous
Heres 2 ideas that popped into my head to solve this mental block: -Make a doll or something that looks like a student, place the camera ontop of it or on it somehow, and imagine that you are in a class talking about the subject you wish to convey. -Have a friend hold the camera, and imagine that you are in a class, since then you will have an actual person that you have to relate to. If you are the kind of teacher who asks the student questions, then nothing is stopping you from doing that aswell. That would engage the viewer. I am a perfectionist myself with most things I do, but it comes with drawbacks, like the final result might be devoid of a human feel or connection, and that it takes way longer to finish anything. And the self criticism drains your energy and spirit. I am trying to get out of a perfectionist mindset. To look at an example that most here know of, I have a very hard time reading UPB because it seems so devoid of a human connection. Though it is probably very well put togheter. So I am fairly certain Stefan spent a lot of time on it. The point you made is valid, its just that I would not hold it up high, because painting walls can be made entertaining and motivating aswell if you just have the right mindset. Maybe I am just being overcritical, but this is why I wanted atleast one example, so that I could have seen what you ment. I want to help, because I myself do not even have the balls to show myself on youtube yet, even though I know more than the basics of how to do it, so instead I can help those who do have the balls to get even better.- 4 replies

Need help with finding a suitable 2D engine for a game.

I was wondering the same so I found this. A form of automatic memory management to reclaim memory that is no longer in use by the program. Hard to imagine that it could be ment to be anything else than this explanation. -

A4E replied to Magnetic Synthesizer's topic in Science & Technology
You say that the target is windows 7 64 bit, in which case there is another old 'engine' that could be used. I have been using it for many years. Blitz3d is now freeware and can be used to make anything for windows, even the latest windows versions. Though I don't know how stable Blitz3d programs are on different systems today, but it is still working for me on my computers. The name implies that it can create 3d applications, but I have only used its 2D capabilities, because im not interested in developing 3D applications yet. Blitz3d is a very old product made by the same guy who made Monkey x. I am slowly transitioning to Monkey x as I know that blitz3d might be doomed for future windows versions. But I dont care so much because I LOVE Blitz3d and am still using it to work on my recent big game project (and also construction set) that I have available for everyone at selfuniverse.com/games/ -

The hulk hogan video was decent. The exploring japan videos are nice. The being authentic video seemed kind of pointless. If you are going to do something, just do it. However you do have a healthy number of subscribers, so I guess the video could be justified to tell them. But from what you say in the video, be aware that the viewers will not get (and perhaps miss) your facial expressions. But I think its an ok thing to do.- 4 replies

When I clicked on the link, I involuntarily started watching the video you have chosen to be the flagship of your channel. After 10 seconds I thought that this looks high quality, so he knows what he is doing. After 20-30 seconds I was starting to get uninterested so I wound up looking through your videolist while listening to the flagship video. Then I chose to start a exploring japan video to watch while listening to the flagship video. I was wondering when you were going to give any good arguments, because "being a more motivated and engaging person who want to create a more entertaining situation" is not really a worthwile point, because it can be said about anything you do in life. I severely wanted you to provide atleast one example. ONE example would have upped the entertaining and engaging value of that video considerably! Here is an idea, bring up a small whiteboard and start doodling away about what happened one time. Be more crazy, or relaxed. just my opinion. Also you talk about going on and on and be boring to not help in teaching english, and you wanted honest feedback, so I have to say that was mostly what you did in your flagship video. But, the video was high quality enough for me to atleast want to check out some of your other videos, but I cannot right now.- 4 replies

Could you please explain how the word "bad" contains moral responsibility? Or explain the contradiction you wanted to point out? I know I make some strong claims in the article, and I recognize that they might possibly be wrong, but this sentence of yours is not an argument. I did not give free will moral responsibility to anyone in the article. I gave instructions on how to have a peaceful society, because everyone implicitely agree that we need a peaceful society. I did provide a definition of my own in the article. But please tell me what you see as moral responsibility, so that we are not talking about 2 different things. For example, would you agree that noone is morally responsible in a hard deterministic universe? The pulling of hair was ment to be a lighthearted humorous transition. I don't understand "protected classes" No I did not. You might be conflicting free will moral responsibility with instructions. Maybe you did not understand what I was trying to say in the article. You want to stay alive right? And you need to eat and sleep in order to stay alive, because if you do not, you will die. We want a peaceful society right? And we need to keep bad people away from society in order to have peace, because if we do not, we will not have a peaceful society. Did you read the summary in the article? Do you disagree with anything in the summary?

Whoever insisted on eating out. Because why should a date automatically include eating out? Can we not date any way we want? And there are many ways to date without spending money. Or are we so mentally confined and controled that we have to date the way the wind blows? I think I remember someone talking about freedom on this board... If a date will involve spending money, aka resources, aka work, then if the insisting/asking part do not mention any terms beforehand, then that part should be expected to pay. If a lady asks me if I want to join her to eat in a (very expensive) restaurant, and I say ok. Then I expect her to pay. If a lady asks me if I want to join her to eat in a (very expensive) restaurant and also say that she will not pay for me, and I say ok. Then I expect to pay for myself. Lets say I ask a lady if she wants to eat out, and she says ok. And then I tell her that she will have to pay for herself. If she now says no, then I could ask if she wants to go on a date without spending money, and if she says no because she got upset or whatever, then I just saved alot of time (and money) not spending time with a woman who clearly value money/resources/free stuff more than potentially finding a soulmate. note: This is my opinion if we want a society where men are not expected to be the main providers in a family.

The effects of a can of Coca-Cola on your body
A4E replied to Alan C.'s topic in Science & Technology
There are various stories about using diet soda as ant poison. I tried it myself, mainly as an experiment because the ants did not bother me much, and I had long been wondering if it was true. I used pepsi max. I did not have access to the nest, so I put some things near one of the trails going down the wall to a bench. I put one pure puddle, and one soaked toilet paper, and one soaked toilet paper mixed with regular coke, because I had read that you would likely need to mix it with something. Nothing happened for a couple of hours, but then later they had made a trail to the mixed one. I let it go for a while, but did not want to have a big trail going to my bench, so I stopped it. The pure puddle just dried up with a few ants who got stuck in it. and the soaked non mixed one was left alone. As I checked up on the situation, I noticed some ants were moving slower than the rest, and some others were carrying other ants. The next day, something strange and frightening had happened. The trail that went down the wall was entirely gone, and there were a significant amount of dead ants littered in a random pattern over my stuff. Around 100 maybe, like someone had hand picked each ant and placed them down carefully. Really freaky. I was wondering if I had killed the entire colony, but they came back after about 5 days. Anyone else tried it? If so I really want to hear it. I saw on internet today that diet coke might have baking soda, which would kill ants. But on the ingredients for pepsi max, there should not be any baking soda, unless its under another name. -
If we use the definition of free will that you explained in your post, would you say that most animals have this free will? Would you also say that a lot of insects might have this free will? If not, how about apes, monkeys, lions, elephants, dolphins? No determinist will disagree that humans are incredibly complex, just as all other intelligent animals are complex, but perhaps not as much as humans. It is the idea of a free will that contains superpowers, so for you to compare determinism with a God, is misplaced imo.

In the video below the sentence there is a robot using words like "I" and "my". Just curious what happens then. Does it make a split entity fallacy? I guess i'm wondering if there are restrictions on who or what can make these split entity fallacies.
-
In the video he speaks of an entity that he calls "The self". Does the entity called "The self" exist? If so, does it exist in all humans? If so, does it exist in animals? If so, does it exist in insects? If so, does it exist in rocks? Why is this entity assumed to be separate from the person? (with person, I mean the whole body of the person, including the brain.) If I say "The person in this location that is writing this now do not understand the logic from the person in the location that wrote the post that is quoted.", Did I make a split entity fallacy? Would you agree that using words like "I" and "you" are far easier words to use instead of "this person in this location" and "that person in that location" ? Also, I am genuinely interested in what happens with your logic when this occurs:

Some days after this thread was created, a light bulb appeared over my head, and I started writing down my thoughts. And I've been working on it up until this day, and now finally put it up on my website. The main goal was to try to put an end to the endless debates so that everyone can use their energy on other things. Because of the camp I am trying to prove, I am scared because I like this forum. I tried to find a 'send message' option to MMD, or some other contact option, but I did not find any. So if the article that I made is unacceptable, you can just delete this post, and I will get the hint. Here is the article.

Edit: I dont know anything about his history or read the other posts here before I replied. If he managed to fool himself when he was young in such a way, then I feel sorry for him. When he watch a movie, by his own logic, he should not enjoy it because he knows it will end. So is it a joke or what? I doubt he did not have lots of happiness at times. He might even have been happy to tell this, (or lie) to those people. He even said he laughed at other people.

The effects of a can of Coca-Cola on your body
A4E replied to Alan C.'s topic in Science & Technology
I have warned people about diet soda for many years. Aspartame is a horrid story on its own. It took quite some time to get aspartame approved for human consumption, most likely due to bribery. I highly advice anyone drinking diet soda to acquire information about all its effects. Recommended reading Link to more of the same Image from here Google search -
