This makes me think of an episode of the show "Arrow" I saw recently where some thug got together a bunch of other thugs and took over part of town and drove the police out. I was wondering where all the people with guns were. A group of thugs couldn't take over part of an American city that didn't want them because they'd get themselves all shot. I think only liberals firmly ensconced in a liberal cocoon could concoct that sort of story. If a single conservative had been in their writer room they would have said "wait just a minute, they'd get a gun and shoot the bad guys."

I am fully aware that should Stef ever be seen as a danger to people with government power that he would be in a lot of danger. I doubt they would even feel the necessity to stage some kind of event... furthermore I don't see what power I have to stop anything of that nature, men with a monopoly on violence will do what they want with or without my approval. I don't doubt that governments have staged events and in fact it is commonly accepted that things like the gulf of tonkin or pearl harbor were manipulated to promote an agenda towards war. The same can be said for 9/11. regardless of who the was involved in the attack the event was molded to a pre-existing agenda and used to justify wars and (further) shredding of the constitution. If it will help I'll quickly give you my justification for accepting the existence of nuclear bombs. It's not iron-clad reasoning, but it's what I'm working with: When I was younger I was deeply curious about physics and especially nuclear physics. So I have read a large number of books on the subject. tangentially related are books written by Richard P. Feynman. I read all of Feynman's books and judge him to be an honest and upstanding guy. Feynman was a young and relatively unimportant physicist on the manhattan project and was present for the trinity test. He knew enough and was honest enough to report anything fishy he might have seen. But even if you don't trust Feynman, I trust human nature. Over the years there have been thousands of people involved with nuclear weapon production and tests. it seems there would be solid evidence of it being a hoax, since as they say two people can keep a secret if one of them is dead. There have been over 2,000 nuclear bomb tests in seven different countries... and yet somehow all of that was an elaborate hoax that was never revealed and loudly trumpeted by sworn enemies like Russia, China and the US, or India and Pakistan?

How many hours have you spent on spreading philosophy and information about peaceful parenting or non-agression principle? Or otherwise working to make the world a better place?

Well, let's assume that you're a good guy, and the guy she's dating currently are a good guy... that's two good guys that she's dynamited relationships with because she wants to get some more people in bed. Good men are hard to come by. Let's also notice that she had a really dysfunctional childhood that she didn't deal with before having kids, and now it seems the most important thing to her is finding a guy that's ok with having several people getting it on with her together. So, I don't know that threesomes are bad, but I do know that they are not as important as the love of a good partner. She needs a good dose of perspective because finding good men is hard and finding a good man that wants threesomes is even harder. There are many things that my wife and I don't have in common. she likes seafood, I can't stand it. I love cheese, she only likes cheese when it's on a pizza. But we share courage, kindness, and virtue so those preferences don't exactly matter. Or to put it in a way that more closely mirrors the discussion, Let's say I am interested in doing things in bed that my wife doesn't want to do. I am not about to end our relationship to pursue those sexual interests cuz they're just not that important.

Oh sure, I forgot about the false flag bit... but the logic I laid out also applies to a false flag, since it's such easy logic many people would be wondering which government provided the nuke. Also, using a real nuke in a false flag scenario is much more likely to harm the loved ones or other unintended targets of the people orchestrating the false flag operation... So for real terrorists or pretend terrorists dirty bombs are the way to go.

I agree with that! Holy crap is youtube amazing. Last year by watching youtube videos I learned to do something I've wanted to learn for twenty years! Penn Jillette says that you can learn more about juggling from an afternoon of youtube than he learned in an entire career.

I don't think that current low prices are in any way a reflection on the viability of crypto-currencies longterm... I'd be willing to bet substantial amounts of money on that. But I don't really love bitcoin as a low risk investment. I'm not sure where the price of bit coin will be tomorrow and I couldn't even guess if it will drop to zero in ten years because it has been replaced by a superior currency. I tend to think that bitcoin is here to stay and that current prices are just reflective of a maturing market in bitcoin that is not quite so wild with speculation. Personally I have no money in bitcoins and have only ever used them to make international money transfers. I can wholeheartedly recommend BTC as a way to transfer money, but holding it is only for people with money they can afford to lose.

it might be worth picking apart your language a bit here. you say "or if she's unwilling to bend to his preference for her not to have those desires" It's not really the desire that is the problem, it's acting on it. A desire is something you can discuss and deal with. Also you say there is probably a guy out there... but you did not specify that he's healthy or a good guy for her, I think that's a key bit you left out. Anyhow, I think that she needs to sort this out with the help of a good therapist. She's destroyed or threatened multiple relationships because of this desire and acting on it. Either she wants the three ways and she needs to set her sights on guys that accept that. Or she wants a good guy. A good therapist can help her sort that out, you can't (as you found out).

That’s a great example of the first encounter telling you all you need to know. She made a rapist joke at you the first time you met her. That’s a clear signal to stay away if you are healthy or self-respecting. I can only imagine her mother and grandmother said similar things to men that kept the good ones running in the opposite direction. I'm glad this film was made, but I really don't think I have the stomach to watch it. I wonder what a follow up documentary would look like, i.e. if they caught up with some of the boys in the original. I bet a not small portion of the boys are dead from suicide or drug overdose... male prostitution is never talked about except as the butt of a joke.

I hadn't even realized how completely devastated Venezuela will be with the current price of oil... I mean they were already messed up at really high oil prices, but Maduro won't even be able to pay off the dependent classes and thugs keeping him in power. I don't see it ending well, either the government will reform policies, or there will be a coup... and we all know how often socialist governments implement free-market reforms... especially with lefty american cheerleaders telling them they've nothing to worry about.

There you have absolutely hit the nail on the head! It will keep you busy for weeks, having no affect on anything whatsoever. I believe when they imagine a terrorist attack they imagine a dirty bomb, which is just a conventional bomb with radioactive materials. It would be designed to spread the radioactive materials as far and wide as possible. It's a great terrorist weapon because people are quite scared of radiation. But it doesn't require the greater complexity, expense, and detectability of a nuclear weapon. (because of the expense of a nuclear weapon it would almost certainly have to come from a government, and any government found to have supplied terrorists with nukes will have a very short life span) Anyhow, I don't think that the OP believes that radioactive material doesn't exist, so in his universe dirty bombs are still a danger.

In the abstract I think it can be fine for your kid to sleep over at some other kids home once their old enough. But in any specific case where I felt uneasy I would always trust my instincts. Trusting yourself and your kids will keep you safe most of the time.

Seems pretty useless to me. Avoiding dangerous people is more about thinking than responding. If your kid doesn't know how to think they'll be vulnerable to predators and scams their whole life. Predators aren't stupid, if they're targeting your kid they won't just say "Damn! My plan is foiled, she doesn't want candy!" They'll seep through whatever cracks are there in her confidence or your relationship with your kid. And of course the most important thing for kids to know is that most predators are not strange men offering candy. That's a laughable stereotype.

I find it hard to square the two parts of your post... Yes it is relatively easy to impart plausible memories of a trip that didn't happen when you have "evidence" that it did happen and memory can be finicky, but then you seem to understand well what happens in therapy when people denormalize memories.... So what makes no sense to me is why you don't see this false or recovered memory stuff for what it is. Slander on the victim and their therapist. If you look at the original case from the 90s, the woman went in to therapy and realized that what had happened to her was criminal so she went public with it. Her parents had money and community support. They hired expert witnesses and started an organization against recovered memories and proceeded to find other parents that were "victims" of therapist. (Which should sound familiar to anyone who's been around fdr since the early days) The media fell for it hook line and sinker and helped demonize therapists. The guilty parents have been the ones setting the narrative all along with the help of a willing media that loves nothing more than stories of children gone wrong in satanic cults... Or therapy cults.

Don't celebrate holidays you don't like. I've been an atheist for as long as I can remember and always celebrated Christmas. To me it's always been about family Santa and presents. To me it sounds like you need some space from things that have negative associations for you. I think that's fine and people should respect your wishes if they want to have a relationship with you. The fact your parents sent presents contrary to your request they not send presents sounds to me like they wish to pretend they have a relationship with you without bothering to explore who you are as a person and being curious about what is changing for you. As for acquaintances wishing you merry Christmas and that sort of thing... I wouldn't sweat the small stuff, they don't know you that well and it doesn't really matter to your relationship with them.

I worked briefly for AT&T, they had clearly taken great precautions to secure their network and of course as a big target they need to. I now work for a small company with very little public profile, and their precautions are almost nonexistent. If someone wanted to steal everything it would not be hard... But it also wouldn't be worth the effort. Anyhow, computer security is going to be something people learn about the hard way. Basic things like encrypted emails and files would have saved sony a lot of pain.

You're "friend" sounds like a bit of a low class dirtbag. Why are you hanging around him? The theater is running a business, they don't benefit from calling the cops on someone who sneaks into a second movie, but they also don't benefit from letting shifty guys buy one ticket and watch all the movies they want. The reason I've called your friend a shifty, low class dirtbag is the behavior is not really awful it's just kinda jerky. And movie tickets are not so expensive that an adult can't afford another ticket. Also he clearly doesn't have much taste or much to do with his time. I struggle to find time to see a movie and last time I tried I ended up not going because they didn't have one movie I wanted to see, let alone two. Is it immoral? Sure. Is it stealing? Yeah, they set up the theater and show films for people who pay for tickets. Obviously he already bought some tickets so they'll ask him politely to leave. If he was a repeat offender or didn't buy tickets they'd ask him less politely, and eventually physically evict him or call the cops. So it's immoral and illegal. But can you convince him not to do it? I doubt that there is any way. So why do you bother? What are his great character traits that lead you to call him a friend?

It's amazing what tools exist to make it possible for one person to make a whole game relatively easily. It's great. It will probably be well after the holidays, i think everything is shut down until the 26th or later... I submitted an app more than a week ago that hasn't been approves yet. Unfortunately I think we've both lost out by not getting our games on the store before Xmas. I hear it's the time to make sales... If the iPhone 4 won't cut it I've got an s3 I borrow for testing, it should be more able to run the game.

Cool, I've been making games too. Will it run on a iPhone 4? Are you working on your own or do you have a team? I've been working mostly on educational games for my school, and more fun games in my spare time. Are you working in unity? I've been working in gamemaker studio because I'm more interested in 2d games.

Was this a girl you were talking to? I can't imagine why anyone would care what she "hated" in a philosophical discussion unless this was a girl. And while I'm on the guessing train, I will guess that she is pretty because otherwise your brain would have been working and you could have simply stolen her wallet. If she objected you could reply "evidence is unreliable, this is my wallet" and then simply walked away. It's no accident that Ayn Rand wasn't pretty. I doubt she would have been as good as she was at philosophy if she had said "I hate Plato" and everyone around her had said "oh yes, Plato is a bad man, don't you worry your pretty little head about that".
