Is it possible to save my friend's relationship?
PatrickC replied to Andre1332's topic in Self Knowledge
Be a little cautious of sentimentality. I would just urge you to look at the reality of the relationship, not the history you're perhaps feeling wedded too. That said, it's probably worthy an exploration into why you feel the need to avert him from disaster. Where has this occurred for you before? What expectations were levied upon you as a child to protect others? Just a thought here of course. -
Importance of non-violent child rearing derided by Hoppe

I attempted to dredge it up, but to no avail I'm afraid.. Either he has changed the privacy settings or it's the utterly useless way Facebook allows you to trawl through a persons wall. Which with Stephans minor celebrity status, can make it quite the challenge. That said, there is an interesting tool, which will bring up every post that any of your Facebook friends have written. Since I only follow Stephan I am unable to search his posts this way. But for anyone that is a Facebook friend of his, then they might want to give it a try. From memory the post was made either in late January or sometime in February. Good luck! http://fbtimemachine.appspot.com/ Edit - He mentioned Stefan by name using his Facebook name link. So it's entirely possible that Stefan can go to the top of Stephan's page and check their friendship via the drop down menu next to 'message' (hit 'see friendship'). This will only present the posts that Stephan mentioned Stefan with by name linking. Just a thought of course. -
Yes, I get that.. Except I'm not going there on business of course. This is a journey to thank (and buy dinner for I hope) a man I have much appreciated for some years now..

Ah Lians, this was the area I described (poorly) in my PM to you. Nice area, thanks Ruben... Wanted to say, I'm also expecting to hook up with some of my Dutch anarchist compadres whilst I'm other there too.

Yes, from memory he now believes it's a violation of the NAP.. That said, I don't think he's ever claimed to be pro spanking. As he mentioned in the video, he doesn't feel the need to spank his own children. -

Just wanted to add that Stephan Kinsella has changed his mind entirely on spanking now. This was after a telephone conversation he had with Stefan apparently. Unfortunately he made the announcement on Facebook, which makes it nigh on impossible to find right now. But it was a public posting, so you might be able to Google dredge it perhaps. -

Interesting.. I've done a lot of voice (recorded) journalling.. I think if you keep these videos private for yourself. No reason why you can't experience some catharsis with them..Best wishes!..

Actually dsayer, not to marginalize your point. But I did that (writing my script) and still monumentally fluffed up.. Some years ago now mind (for the gigglez)

I must admit, I despair when I hear entrepreneurs talk like this (leftist propaganda). That said, he is probably right about most of his investment returns (other than actual business ones) are probably landing in the pockets of bankers and such like. Of course taxation is probably the worst place to put ones money.. Anyway, unless I missed something, where did this video suggest taxation was the best course for these millionaires capital. Perhaps it was just an inference.

Just to be clear Noesis was banned temporarily by an admin.. She was later re-instated with a public apology from Stefan himself.

Could I have a double helping of 'flamin hot wing Kevin'. Please sir, go easy on the tabasco sauce. What with my delicate palate and all..

I broadly agree with you Holo and I'm not sure Stefan wouldn't disagree either. I particularly liked this part. That said I think it's reasonable to point out the disparities and wake men up (so to speak), as a means to enhance their understanding and future happiness for them and their future wife and children.

You can by all means continue to make extrapolations with the same reason.. But don't be surprised if it doesn't make sense to me or any other mortal.. I just required some evidence, not presumptions taken out of context.
-
Right, so you can see the problem with making some bold moral statements. They require context and importantly 'objectivity'.. AKA, UPB!
-
I have to say Holo, that looks absolutely terrifying.
-
Way to take a reference referring to 'implicit' out of context that had nothing to do with your own use of the term earlier. So when an Ophthalmologist performs surgery on your eye with a scalpel or laser. Would you consider that harmful or helpful?
-
Both the last two posters highlight the problem that mankind has had with defining morality. People like to assign their own pet likes and dislikes accordingly to the term. UPB attempts to re-frame that into two parts from UPB to APA, by assigning universals where they exist (UPB) and aesthetics with the rest (APA). You basically have to re-learn morality with UPB and only assign universals where they actually exist and not just where we would like them to exist.
-
This sounds like your making a 'No true Scotsman' fallacy. Insofar as reason, logic and evidence can make objective observations everywhere else, except this one (UPB). You would have to show where that 'implicitness' came from. Saying it is so, doesn't make it so. Or mean it's a sleight of hand. Unless of course you can provide evidence to the contrary.
