How did you come to this conclusion? What evidence did you use? What is your reasoning based on this evidence? How are you certain you're not the one in the bubble? Please provide proof of your conclusions before expecting to convince anyone of anything regarding this. Just saying "I've played out the anarcho-capitalism scenario in my head and it doesn't work out." doesn't mean shit anywhere else except in your head, and we're not in there. We're out here, where what you do (like voting) actually affects us.

Ever since watching an ASAP Science YT vid that said there's a roughly 80/20 split in people for optimism/pessimism biases based on genetic predisposition, I realized there are about 20% of people in the world that 'don't care to be happy'. I don't try to fight their genes and tell them they should want to be happy. Maybe a lot of people just don't know this and assume that everyone's goal in life is to be happy. I think I would agree more with previous posts in that people are looking to be content but are projecting what makes them content onto other people. (which happens both ways) and you end up with people thinking other people are fake and what have you. ~80% are content when happy ~20% are content when certain(?) Link to ASAP Science vid: https://youtu.be/9n2tmNWn1ec Haven't finished reading this yet but it seems relative to topic. http://www.thecuriousneuron.com/2012/03/neural-basis-of-optimism.html

Looking for stickers, pamphlets, cards, etc. To handout
Carl Green replied to TonyPluto's topic in Promoting Freedomain
If you find (or make) an informational pamphlet/flyer/whatever that you like, I can print a bunch of the paper handout stuff for you and mail it down. ( I just can't print on vinyl stickers, like I explained in the PM ) -
So really the title of this thread should've been "Before You Guys...." instead of "Before We....". As it seems you've only used that word to make it seem like you're on the side of anarchists for some reason.

Bug consciousness and the Turing Test
Carl Green replied to Donnadogsoth's topic in Science & Technology
How could we even get to a point of saying that we know what ant consciousness is, in order to confirm if we've replicated it or not? -
But you can just leave?
Carl Green replied to robmcmullan's topic in Libertarianism, Anarchism and Economics
good one. You can ask them if they've ever looked into the feasibility of what they're saying. You can't "just leave". Not only are there citizenship renunciation taxes, but you have to find somewhere to go, which won't let you just show up. In my experience though, if the conversation gets to this question, the whole thing's been a waste of time because I couldn't perceive their non-receptiveness earlier. I doubt this question's ever been asked by someone who was truly listening to the person. -
If not one person is an average person, what good is freedom for something that doesn't exist. Only individuals exist. So only individual freedom is actually freedom. Make sense?

An interview with Alice's Son, Martin. Alice's work has helped many and we're very fortunate to have it, but she had to make some very hard decisions when it comes to her son, and from what I could tell from the article, she dropped the ball pretty bad when it came to parenting. I've not read any of either's work, but if what I've picked up so far is accurate, it's a shame that she knew what to do but couldn't bring herself to do it. Must've been a special kind of hell for Martin.

Is society currently walking or running when it comes to democracy? How can we tell, is it by the level of freedom? If that's the case I think you might agree we're not even running with the current system... Might've been jogging at some point way back in the day, but definitely not now. What is telling you that this analogy is accurate? If anything this damn system is hobbling everyone, preventing everyone from ever being able to run.

Capitalism (within anarchy) is essentially voting with your money. Every issue is separated nicely for everyone and everyone can vote accordingly to how they see fit. It also allows for multiple outcomes or even outcomes that weren't foreseen. It is as direct a way as possible to determine what people want. We don't need a more accountable situation, we need an actually accountable situation.

I'm a Police Officer..help!
Carl Green replied to Sabras's topic in Libertarianism, Anarchism and Economics
I think (as in I don't know and this is just what makes sense to me, I'm no future teller after all) you may have an impossible path ahead of you. If you were to maintain virtuous ethics and principles you'll be breaking a lot of 'cop rules' which isn't going to get you advanced in rank, which isn't going to get you into a "more virtuous" position. A very difficult position to be in which I sympathize with you for. I'm assuming your alternatives are quite limited but in my experience, the more hypocrisies and pseudo justifications I've removed from my life the happier I've been. So you can keep going down this path but the justifications and hypocrisy will still be in the back of your mind the whole time. Which will always keep you from being able to say (most importantly to yourself) that you're living as virtuously and ethically as you possibly can. Again, I'm not saying I know that's the case, I have no idea what it's like to be a copper, especially one in the UK. I'm just saying that's how I'd interpret the situation if I were in it. -
I cut these with my vinyl cutting machine. Not printed in bulk so people can get different sizes and colors.

Just don't beat yourself up too much over it unless you're deliberately not living up to a standard you have for yourself. Just because you can listen to Chopin and enjoy it (see/agree to a good standard), doesn't mean you'll be able to play it until you've been practicing for a good long while.

Should I take advantage of the welfare system
Carl Green replied to Jakethehuman's topic in General Messages
So all ya gotta do is separate out the money that people did voluntarily give from the money that people didn't voluntarily give, and then give back the money that was involuntarily given to you to those that it was taken from, and you're in the clear! Well on ya for donating some of the little amount you have though, a lot of people here aren't even on the stolen money program yet can't seem to manage contributing. -
Financial success can give you a sense of comfort for the future ahead but it doesn't guarantee happiness. This is a personal desires and subjective question so really it's just a matter of putting the two (or more) sides on the scales and seeing what weighs more. Neither is right or wrong. Just keep in mind that the one thing you don't get more of is time, so use the very limited amount that you have as wisely as possible for your goals in life. I think pursuing a career in art often gets a bad rap because so many artists are unsuccessful at it. While it's often assumed that people just don't wanna buy art, it's not necessarily the reason an artist fails. In my experience most artistic types (me included) are pretty lacking in the "setting up the books and running the business" side of things which is pretty important for being successful at selling your talent. It's seemingly a saturated job market since there are a lot of people that would like to live off of their talent but if you're good and also good at being a salesperson of your work you might be able make a decent enough living and be very happy doing it. You should definitely seek out and speak to artists that are currently successful at doing something similar to your art In the end, would you rather risk ending up with a life of a surgeon which you possibly wish you spent more time drawing, or a life of an artist in which you wished you had more financial success throughout. Being a less successful surgeon because you're not as devoted to it as other surgeons, but having enough time to satiate your creative desires seems like a real win-win if that's possible. What about being a medical artist? Drawing the various illustrations of areas of the human body and such?

What can we REALLY do to 'prepare accordingly'?
Carl Green replied to mthenke's topic in General Messages
Knowledge is also extremely important. If you don't know enough basic survival skills to stay alive if you're alone in nature, you should probably get on that. And also getting into a lifestyle that needs less from society (sustainable) will help as well. Start growing some of your own foods and such. -
look up videos by Rick Roderick https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=rick+roderick I liked his delivery. Others will have to verify the content of his coverage as I'm still quite ignorant on the subject as well.

Isn't a person with friends 'stronger' than a person alone? Win/win creates stable friendships & relationships which end up being stronger than any Win/lose.
