Dude, that is flaky stuff. EDIT: now I see that it is humor, but part of it threw me as sounding serious. Anyway, still good info here below about mercury. Not that I trust gummint terribly much at all, (see my link in these forums (2 top medical journals claim medical research half false - Current Events - Freedomain Radio Message Board ), but this... Thimerosal and 2014-2015 Seasonal Flu Vaccines | Seasonal Influenza (Flu) | CDC-- Since 2001, no new vaccine licensed by FDA for use in children has contained thimerosal as a preservative, and all vaccines routinely recommended by CDC for children younger than 6 years of age have been thimerosal-free, or contain only trace amounts of thimerosal, except for some formulations of influenza vaccine. The most recent and rigorous scientific research does not support the argument that thimerosal-containing vaccines are harmful. CDC and FDA continually evaluate new scientific information about the safety of vaccines. Thimerosal in Vaccines Thimerosal | Concerns | Vaccine Safety | CDC Two types of mercury to which people may be exposed -- methylmercury and ethylmercury -- are very different. Methylmercury is the type of mercury found in certain kinds of fish. At high exposure levels methylmercury can be toxic to people. In the United States, federal guidelines keep as much methylmercury as possible out of the environment and food, but over a lifetime, everyone is exposed to some methylmercury. Thimerosal contains ethylmercury, which is cleared from the human body more quickly than methylmercury, and is therefore less likely to cause any harm. Thimerosal does not stay in the body a long time so it does not build up and reach harmful levels. When thimerosal enters the body, it breaks down to ethylmercury and thiosalicylate, which are readily eliminated.

I feel betrayed by my best friend and a girl
AccuTron replied to OtherOtie's topic in Self Knowledge
Everything you discuss is a tangle of emotional feelings, which are the foe of rational thought. Feelings are about feeling good, ultimately. So do things that feel good. Outdoor hikes, a vigorous physical sport, a food treat. Talk to total strangers at a cafe or mall about your thoughts, which will give you not just insights, but the feeling of connecting to larger humanity, as opposed to focusing on your friend. Your inner kitty cat will tend to drift to the purr-zone, and the other stuff has the opportunity to shrink back into perspective. -

Our eyes evolved to see food and shelter and predators. If we use them now to go to an art gallery, it's no conflict. -
your opinion of financial advisor's comment
AccuTron replied to AccuTron's topic in General Messages
Sometimes I ask reasonable questions of people expecting an honest intelligent answer because it's been awhile since I last tried, and I need the reminder to just give up. I keep having resurgent hope, followed by a self-administered face palm. I'm not searching for socially responsible funds per se, I'd have not a prayer of sorting that out, since I'd trust "green" least of all. I was curiosity to see if the agent would even acknowledge the internal elements of the question. Thanks mellomama for the insider angle. -
I have a chunk of wealth with Edward Jones Company, as financial advisors and account managers, and the company name doesn't make me cringe like some do. (I mention here that the agent is female. In this case, a male might also have toed the company line. I'd like this to not matter, but I notice that females in general have a heck of a time, even meanness, with adjusting world views in the face of overwhelming facts, especially where ego or self-value are concerned. "Girl Writes What" and "LOL feminism" are two online women who cover this more generally.) I have viewed much material supplied here at FDR, also men like Peter Schiff and a fellow I think named Maloney. There seems abundant evidence that if the US currency/economy is to maintain our investments, it's not because we were the solid rock that was still standing after WW2, but because our wreckage floats higher than everyone else's wreckage. I finally got around to a brief email to my advisor, mentioning Schiff, etc., asking for comment. The brief reply was the economy was recovering and getting stronger and she'd send more info on the topic. My question thus seems to receive minimal depth. What are your interpretations at FDR?

Boy, I'd sure like it to catch on. But gigantic money is made from ignorance. Also, mainstream media will NEVER admit it is clueless.

Someone: There is NO, that's ZERO, truth to anthropogenic climate warming. ALL of it traces to fraud and grotesque incompetence. ANY source that claims otherwise is making money or power or is just an idiot, and there are many. Follow my links back and forth within these forums for a basic outline. IT IS NOT THE TOTALITY OF INFO. Take at least one hour, two would be better, to sift thru the links I have. Search climate fraud and you can take as many weeks as you want and still not see all the info. climate fraud updates - General Messages - Freedomain Radio Message Board You will see excerpts from internal documents of the IPCC itself that they can't find anything, no human influence, just normal weather variation. You will see...or you can just look it up...that sea level has been rising for 20 thousand years, and CO2 has been rising for 18 thousand years, well before power plants!! And that Gore is on his way to being a carbon billionaire...not in my limited links, but just search "carbon billionaire" and you'll see he's with a shady outfit with people from Goldman Sachs. You will see that Gore's own inconvenient graph has temperature LEADING CO2 five times, which he doesn't think you'll check. What corrupt parties gave him a Nobel for that? You will see another NASA graph showing other atmospheric gasses track lockstep with temp and CO2, but Gore didn't mention that either. It goes on and on...you'll see a letter from a REAL scientist Dr. Chase (look up his work online, good luck even pronouncing the titles of his research papers), who describes the "discoverer" of global warming's work as "scandal" and "not science." Yes, there was a discoverer! Did you think thermometers were all going up? NOPE, never true. Some dipshit incompetent, Dr. Michael Mann, ran raw data thru an algorithm, and not having a clue, made a program that artificially makes data get larger over the 20th century. Took two years and a FOIA request to get him to turn over his data...and IT WAS FALSIFIED BY +0.6C. Probably because he published some BS claiming 0.5C...which his algorithm TOTALLY MADE UP. Two more years, another FOIA to get him to reveal his algorithm, shown in 2006 US Congress Wegman Report (in my links) with test data to ALWAYS create from nothing a claimed temp increase. Mann still has drooling fans on Facebook, yet he's been known as a fraud for over ten years!!! But who controls the media? The result is completely undeniable, so the bad guys slander Wegman, a real statistician, so that nobody will actually look. And it works. Creep Obama calls anyone who points out the truth as "flat earth society." Democrats are raking in HUGE votes from this. Gore is getting his first billion dollars, from carbon trading and investing in carbon projects, and he's just one of many. You will see NASA's Hansen use illegal math and illegal physics on PAGE ONE of his 1980 paper about climate and CO2...his own boss, a Dr. Thiron, calls Hansen "an embarrassment to NASA" that should have been "kept on a shorter leash." Search "Hansen fraud" and see what you get. It's endless, and don't stop until you get the full scope, or you will backslide. Even magazines such as Science News and National Geographic are taken over by replaced editors who will print lies, or so stupid as to not know. This sounds fanciful, like I'm claiming bigfoot, doesn't it? That's how it works: it IS so vast, that most people...including myself before I researched...just brush off the TRUTH as "flat earth society." This is insidious, and easily a trillion dollar scam, if not quadrillion, and people, and there are obviously lots of them, will go to extremes to assure such crime.

Translation: A party which wholesale supports Climate Fraud, easily the biggest and most obvious crime in all history, which in addition to the rape of science itself, is massive voter manipulation for green candidates. Easy to do, because the green adherents are so morally pure that clear thinking and honesty are not permitted, even attacked, probably with a hard, smug look (speaking from ample experience), perhaps in between cheers for free speech. I actually respect scumbag soon-to-be-carbon-billionaire Gore and his Goldman-Sachs cronies incrementally more than greenies, because behind his fraud, he honestly knows what he is dishonestly doing. A mind-bogglingly huge and successful worldwide crime, far better than what any James Bond villain thought of, I give him credit for vision. He just lies his butt off and the greenies eat it up (while feeling sooooo special). Who's really the worst criminal? Notice that the US "Democratic" Party ran this vote-getting criminal for Prez, and notice that Obama calls whistleblowers and real scientists "flat earth society." His own call for legacy is climate change, his chosen legacy is the biggest crime ever, horribly hurting real science. Kerry instructed the State Department as a whole that climate change was their number one priority. Let that sink in. Any leftist political element in Canada must also follow this line. Anyone who tries to break ranks by using honesty is slandered and slaughtered; rational discussion is forbidden. Been going on for years already. My metaphor: A large hippie bus, representing genuinely good concerns about earth and social causes, is all a-gaga with bright colors and tambourines. Really pleased with themselves, they are a herd of limbic systems on turbocharge. Satan himself also enters the bus, with proper slogans and beads, maybe even a guitar. Nobody notices.

A number of times I found myself as passenger in a car with a dangerously idiotic driver. I was too naive at many levels to predict this when young, and telling a jerk to slow down is probably not going to work because they are a jerk to begin with. Even when older, we assume that a person who volunteers to drive ACTUALLY CAN. I have been shocked on that more than once, and nearly kissed the ground when finally making it safely home.

Gaming, for what it's worth: I only play UberStrike.com which was designed for the young originally, so no gore. Don't let that fool you, it's a very demanding shooter and fabulously upgraded over the years. No gore, no plot, no levels, just skill and fun. I wonder what difference it would make to eliminate those factors from your gaming.

$15/hr calculates to about $30K/yr. Plus all the HR issues. I found a link (not sure I still have it) advertising a programmable industrial robot for a one time cost of $25K. I expect maintenance costs to be trivial. One time; no HR; can't be harmed by an armed robber any more than shooting a washing machine. It was the size of a pole lamp, with a screen, a small central body, and two arms with changeable grippers. A machine to simply make burgers, with no sanitation or fatigue issues -- including keeping the ambient working area temperature tailored for food, not humans -- has to be dirt cheap for it's value. Payment and ordering are already moving to kiosks. There really is no procedural reason to need a human at all. So the already starting trend will become so obvious, to automate. There will be laws to require minimal humans, but there will be start up businesses that are basically brick enclosed vending machines, and the capital will move there, starving out the human staffed stores. I don't see a solution.

Redwoods become sexually mature in 5-15 years, although the seeds aren't much viable until age 250 or so. Reproduction of coast redwood They don't need to be almost dead to decide to reproduce. Almost all animals are that way. Even then, 1000 years within say 10,000,000 years (oldest fossil) is still 1 in 10,000, so if it did wait a thousand years to reproduce, it would have 10,000 generations to do so (in this example).

I'm going to agree with this one, tho' recognize the reflex to barf and protest. If this was banning water guns, etc., in backyards, clearly too feminist. (Oops, I meant Orwellian, how'd that get in there?) But over thousands and thousands of incidents, a water shot in the eye really hurts, and if it hurts, it's dangerous. Likewise the balloons, an eye hit, and it may be goodbye eye. (I'll look for stats on that.) Also, the kindness angle is legit. A bunch of nuns with rubber band guns might look cute in a movie but not so much in real life. Also, when was the last time we met a brown shirt youth group of historical significance? The Hitler Youth surely were overall kind (to kindred) and not unlike scouts today overall. Maybe a hedged bet is okay. The kids can still do those things, just not in uniform. Toys to Avoid to Keep Your Child's Eyes Safe Water balloon launchers and water guns. Water balloons can cause serious blunt trauma to the eye that can cause a retinal detachment and permanent vision loss. Even toy guns that shoot a stream of water can cause serious eye damage, especially when used at close range. Examples: SuperSoaker Scatter Blast Water Blaster (SuperSoaker); Nerf Super Soakers (Hasbro); Water Sports TL-500 Stream Machine (Water Sports); Water Blaster XLR Water Cannon (Water Blaster).
