Absolutely brilliant mate! Really well written, to the point and although the story is satire, it's also kinda subtle, I never got that feeling of simplistic/outlandish you often get with this sort of thing.

When I finally defooed from my mother the last thing she said was, 'I just don't know what else I can do, I try so hard'. So much bullshit wrapped up in 13 simple words....

Getting Annoyed Over Trivial Stuff Other People Do.
RyanT replied to RyanT's topic in General Messages
Yeah can really hear you there dsayers, I was raised by my very working class grandparents, who grew up in the 1930's, so while the guy in the supermarket didn't provoke a reaction from me, ideas of, going into debt, living above your means, 'thinking you're something you're not' obviously trigger their parental alter egos in my head? -
I remember I was once in a supermarket with this girl I was dating, we where just buying booze and snacks so went through those self-serve tills and the guy in front wasn't having much joy with it, fumbling about, putting things in the 'bagging area' when he shouldn't, then when it comes time to pay his wallet's still in his pocket.....then he can't get the £20 in the slot. Anyway he finally got away and she began ranting about how annoying she found stupid people who didn't have their shit together. and even at the time I remember thinking, 'So what, he's made us wait in line maybe an extra 2 minutes, max. Aren't there 1001 more egregious things going off in the world?'(...like guys letting girls get away with spouting any old bollocks because they want to sleep with them ) but it's one of those things that when you start noticing it, it's everywhere. I honestly reckon 95%+ of all those rant videos you see on YouTube are about totally asinine shit.....like other peoples taste in music. I'll catch myself doing it too of course, for example I've never really understood why people (often having just got their first job out of university and back living at home with their parents), will go straight out and buy a brand new car on finance.. To me it's all kinds of senseless vanity. but who are they actually harming? Yet, sadly at one time, I could easily launch into 'passionate' rants on the subject, while remaining totally unmoved by real evil in the world, like people beating their kids. That's really messed up isn't it? and isn't that's the whole purpose of these trivialities? Avoiding morality, at all costs.

Is it More Annoying to Debate Religious People or Statists?

Defiantly mate.... I can almost guarantee, the minute the Elliot Rogers case hit the news loads of them got to the part where it said his dad was a famous movie director with all those Hollywood connections and thought, 'Right so obviously this kid Rogers was a MKUltra mind control slave, groomed from near birth for such tasks by his CIA, N.W.O handlers' I should know....I used to be one (a conspiracy theorist that is lol) Of course the sad irony is that he was pretty much 'groomed from near birth for such tasks' (albeit unintentionally) by a toxic combination of parental abuse and a culture that didn't even notice let alone care about it's effects.... Which to me cuts right to the heart of why conspiracy theorists are the way they are. -
Sorry to hear about that, I saw him in all his glory the night before,Sad, sad little boy....I did respond but with off the cuff stuff like,'If women are so bad, go gay problem solved'Did get quite frustrated though when people continued to make reasoned replies to everything he posted, Was my night off work, not been in the chat for a while and he managed to basically hijack the conversation for a good hour with his bullshit... Trolls are certainly a funny lot though.Way I see it they are actually scared stiff of being criticized and rejected,so try and take power in the situation by creating an obnoxious persona, which means they can feel like annoying people was their plan all along. In turn protecting their vulnerable, under developed true self.

Death threats jeopardize Men's rights conference
RyanT replied to Frosty's topic in Men's Issues, Feminism and Gender
Well here again I think 'damage' is a pretty negative term? Obviously those behind these threats were hoping to shutdown the conference, that hasn't happened, instead the call went out and people have responded, Just over $13,000 raised with still over a month left to run... For me that's an incredible expression of how committed so many people are to this cause. ....must have really pissed on the feminists bonfire? lol- 18 replies

Death threats jeopardize Men's rights conference
RyanT replied to Frosty's topic in Men's Issues, Feminism and Gender
Definitely, The fact they're willing to go to such extremes (...people go to jail for making death threats), shows they now see the Men's Rights Movement as a serious threat. It's like Paul Elam said in the article; First they ignore you, (which has pretty much been the case until a few years ago.) then they laugh at you, (http://rationalwiki.org/wiki/Men%27s_rights_movement) then they attack you, (with stuff like this painting Elliot Rogers as a, 'typical MRA') then you win. You can see exactly the same thing happening with FDR and the 'dangerous cult' slurs (....although I did noticed all that seemed to drop off around the beginning of last year. )- 18 replies

A disgusting video on Youtube titled "How to discipline our child"
RyanT replied to DanielR's topic in Peaceful Parenting
You nailed it Jamz,Maybe if they were atheists and didn't have the whole sex guilt complex they'd use that paddle on eachother instead?....everyone's happier, especially their poor little daughter.Quite tempted to post that in the comments section for what good it would do.Seriously though I think it's quite worthwhile that people who want to, leave comments,Of course it won't change her tiny mind, but at least to show others there's opposition? -

RyanT replied to DanielR's topic in Peaceful Parenting
Yeah, that video actually got me thinking the other night,They roll out all these platitudes like 'we never spank in anger'Or how they 'explain' it to her as if this mitigates it,But in many ways that's got to make the experience all the more harmfulto the child? -
Is it More Annoying to Debate Religious People or Statists?
RyanT replied to Wesley's topic in General Messages
My gut reaction would be religious people, mostly because of the 'god of the gaps' thing, Whereby the proposition is we have to prove the theory of evolution etc's 100% correct, before they'll even entertain the idea that it wasn't all the work of their fantasy. 'Where science isn't, god definitly is' It's a bit like me in the UK being accused of a murder last Friday night in Texas, So I say, 'how could I have possibly been in Texas when I was at work all night' So they say, 'maybe you hired a hitman, therefore you were still involved in it' I ask where I'd get the money, they say 'maybe you found it in a bag in the park, therefore the jury is still out, and besides maybe it wasn't a hitman at all, but just a friend you talk into doing it...' How can you debate against that? -
Not exactly a review as such, but I watched the film again the other night and found this scene really powerful, nearly had me in tears. Just that experience of Archer, hoping on some level he can relate to the warden, only for him to blow up on him. Think the up-loader of that video pretty much nails it in the description;

and there's a reason slavery is such a grossly inefficient system.... African Americans are the group people usually (but quite erroneously) associate with slavery, they're also today a community where beating kids is most prevalent so all the stereotypes about them are of an hard working, industrious people? Now, If a man just wants the pussy, and rape is a viable option....where does virtue and morality come into it? You might as well go try reason with a crocodile or other predator? So perhaps you're original post that 'it an impossible argument' to have with these people, is quite valid, In which case don't have it with them but the decent element in society, to convince them of the need to ostracize these cretins, they'd soon get the message that way.... -

I think rape is stone evil, don't get me wrong, it killed any potential bond she could have had with her attacker and made her feel like shit. It did work though, he got the pussy. Ignoring the fact that it can work I think damages your credibility when arguing the point with rapists..... -
Ah I took it to be him describing how he shared the same fantasy as the rino or wildebeest that a blood sucking parasite could provide a service....lol

I think it's one of those situations that must be totally shocking to to those overseas but that we Brits, on the whole sadly take as 'normal'. I was in the Army Cadets, between 12-16 and looking back that was a pretty brutal environment. The vast majority of the adult instructors were either former solders or former cadets themselves, therefore had no training on dealing with young people (usually from highly dysfunctional homes), apart from that provided by the army. Certainly in those 4 years I can't ever recall any sort of inspection/oversight from outside, which you'd expect considering we'd be on totally isolated bases from 3 days to 2 weeks at a time, so it was very much an 'insular culture', both in terms of the attitudes and just the surroundings. Perhaps most disturbing however was the practice of giving kids as young of 13-14 masses of (almost unquestionable) authority over younger children. Which was exasperated further by the notion that, 'shit rolls down hill', 'delegation of responsibility' Thus more often than not it was the most immature/ inexperienced of the 'leadership group' having direct power over the youngest and most vulnerable...Of course this lead to abuse. .......Which is exactly the situation in the regular army. 18-21 year old Lance corporals 'playing god' with young recruits. So while the Army's obviously 'dismissed the concerns as "nonsense", with crap like, 'at least we're not sending them off to war' they're totally missing the point. Just have to look at what happened at Deepcut, 4 young trainees dead in apparent suicides by gunshot on night patrol, Sean Benton, 20 Cheryl James, 18 Geoff Gray, 17 James Collinson,17 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Princess_Royal_Barracks,_Deepcut#Trainee_deaths_at_Deepcut http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/this-britain/what-really-happened-at-deepcut-barracks-6164552.html http://www.bullyonline.org/workbully/military.htm

Sure more than a few on here will already know the story, Just rank hypocrisy.

Just have to look at Marx.... or all those feminists who end up continually dating dicks, 'Check your Projection'? LOL
-
When I read that line I subconsciously knocked off the last 4 words, 'checking privilege doesn't help anyone but the people who spout this' I seeing a meme a while ago about Tim Wise, one of the main mouthpieces for 'white privilege', apparently he lives in a home valued at around $600,000..in a 97% white neighborhood. Quite the 'privileged' life eh?

Know that feeling...all too well. I reckon this really ties in well with Rainbow Jamz's thread last week "Too Preachy" Certainly I'll repeat what I said there, People have all these buzzword/magic spells, to avoid examining morality usually by projecting the negative back onto you and provoking self attack, making you feel like a 'bore', 'geek', 'freak', 'insensitive' whatever. Always worth remembering that when faced with these facts and arguments most people feel really shitty and their brains will totally work overtime to come up with a 'counter attack'. I remember a caller had once questioned the existence of god to his girlfriend, and she'd come back with something along the lines of, 'Well I guess I've just more love in my heart than you'. I can't recall the exact quotation but Stefan was like 'wow, you could spend weeks coming up with an attack that sophisticated', and she'd just spat it out on the fly. ...and that's what we're up against. So I do think we have to be quite careful, and honest about where we are emotionally, before actually engaging with people in these situations. Of course we feel the need to go out and spread the message, but to be effective, we have to do it (and ourselves) justice. While surrounding yourself with people who already have a decent grasp of virtue and morality, might seem like the 'easy option' if not a downright 'cop out', you wouldn't be expected to get into the boxing ring for a serious fight without a lot of training? and punching a guy in the face has to be a lot easier than what we're trying to do?
