  1. There was that Weapons Inspector Dr David Kelly, who commited "suicide". Wrists were cut, but the guy had medical expertise, something about drugs being in his system to coverup the death. The guy had colleagues from the Lancet saying his death was bascially murder. Nigel Farage car brakes were cut or something. The "accident" involving Princess Diana. Probably as many conspiracy theories as 9/11, though the one I believe purely on opinion, is that she was killed to coverup her having a baby from a Pakistani GP . The fact she also said, she thought she was going to be killed in a car crash as well. Plus all the judges that kept resigning from doing an inquiry. So what if the Russians killed an ex double agent, the guy's hardly... "innocent" (according to May). The daughter as well though, could see reasons either way. What if the Russians were framed? Wasn't Trump calling for Snowden and other ex CIA defectors to be shot? (Is it possible to state it any other way?)
  2. BNP: Red pill moment for me, I remember when I was at high school/College, thinking why is it that everyone on the TV are saying that immigration from Eastern Europe is all great, no negatives. Anyway asked my father and he said maybe the NF or BNP(literally had never heard of them before) are against it, so looked it up on the Internet. At or shortly after that time they were investigating into the Rape Gangs and Nick Griffin was put on trial for "Hate Speech". Also did the freedom of information request for the MP Expenses. Imo I think they're bought out now and are sock puppets. Emmigrating: Anyone with sense and work ethic has left, or is leaving the UK, for greener pastures.... Exempting family commintments or other ties.
  3. Yeah, although I don't consider the Ayn Rand Nigthwatchmen State(MinAnarchist) to be Anarchist. Empirically or at heart? I think it's at the heart of the matter, Idealism vs Pragmatism, thinking of perspectives... Any better ideas?
  4. Michael Malice is not an Anarchist, from watching a few debates between him and Tom Woods a while ago, I think his political viewpoint is an Alexander Hamilton style "Aristocratic Republic". Where as Tom Woods, (a friend of his) is more a Thomas Jefferson style Republic, which would be much more in line with and ultimately, Anarcho Capitalism. Oddly was thinking about that today. Personally agree with Michael Malice Pragmatically, Tom Woods Ideally. Pragmaticism wins in my mind.....
  5. Mostly Americans on the forum, I think, though there are also Germans and British. Interesting to hear different things from other other people in UK, yeah must have been some other guy, that mentioned wanting to work in the police. An ever expanding pit of hell it seems to me in society.
  6. @J.L.W Imho Nothing of significance can be done in the UK, on a National scale. Individually, sure there are always people you could help. Youtubers well they can be shutdown, the election of Donald Trump probably bought them 4 years + maybe.... Didn't you say you were thinking of joining the police force? seeing them as servants of Satan probably not compatible with that.
  7. Apologies ofd, Stefan did not mention in synchronicity in the video. Still... looking for some metaphysical explanation of freewill. Yeah ok there is the empirical argument of changing someones mind, a Determinist I guess would say that's just a rationalisation. (or we can measure your brain impuluses therefore determinism...)Not sure if Stefan has mentioned Synchronicty before, usually listen to youtube videos in the background. On the second point, was thinking if you were to take a Determinist mindset to it's eventual conclusion, would end up with something like a machine, bereft of creativity, but still able to perform tasks and record information. Be a bit like NOMAD from Star Trek, I like to try and use various lore to try and comprehend things, see what fits. Was thinking about Freewill being the capability to compare to an Ideal standard. Kind of berfet of ideals, so I guess that precludes me of freewill, though not a determinist either. Maybe it's something like puppet masters or voodoo dolls, from a persons perspective they think they are influenced by X, but in reality a pecking order plays out for determinism (my brain is faster therefore I have the initiative) or Ideal standards that a person sets were actually incepted into a persons mind. What if someone holds communism as an ideal standard?
  8. Was wondering if anyone is familiar with Synchronicity as a concept? It was mentioned by Stefan briefly in the Determinism debunked video. WRONG NOT MENTIONED IN VIDEO. If causality is ultimately the case and "Determinism"/causality is the underlying metaphysical construct of the universe, then wouldn't it be accurate to say that rather then Stefan being a Philosopher, instead it would be more accurate to describe him as a Mechanic? Basically wouldn't the whole discipline of philosophy in fact not be a discipline, and be relegated to something less than mysticism or be subsumed into science. Synchronicity, is not something I am particularly sure on, though if there was to even be philosophy it would seem kind of vital, lest everything be potentially known. Wikipedia has C.GJung referring to it as the paranormal. To hazard a definition, I would say synchronicity is the ability to assign meaning, irrespective of causality. --------------------- Was watching a STTNG Episode "The Vengeance Factor", in the episode there are two groups of people "The Acarmarians" (A climatised People? Sumarians?) and "The Gatherers" (Societal outcasts or nomads). A blood feud between 2 clans "The Tralesta's"(trillest - true reality) and "The Lorenaks" (Lore - cultural tradition, Naks - stuff...), has a Tralesta Assassin(sometimes referred to as Mechanics) attempting to kill the last of the Lorenaks in revenge for an earlier massacre. The assassin Yuta, uses a character referred to as The Sovereign Marouk (Marduk - A Mesopotamian God. "who speaks magic words....") to get at the Lorenaks. Anyway Yuta gets vaporised by Cmdr Riker, before she can kill the last of the Lorenaks, after being given a choice to desist. ---------------------- Does causality take precedence over synchronicity(bearing in mind that synchronicity is acausal, in which case isn't compatiblism bunk? Chicken & The Egg) or are they both equally valid? Maybe synchronicity is bunk?
  9. Audible is fairly good for "12 rules for life" get obivously the tone in Jordan's speech, plus if it's 15 hours or so to read can be easier to listen in the background. Interestingly he is doing a speech in London on the 13th May (also my Birthday). Does seem a bit like a caricature, in the book he mentions that he used to be refered to as "Howdy Dudey after some bloody puppet". Art of the Argument you can get for "free" on a free trial kindle unlimted. Can scan over it fairly quickly.
  10. @ofdAnother thing I was thinking of is I remember J Peterson mentioning when refering to various therapists Rogers, Albert Elis etc "One thing they all agree on, is that you can't change someone who doesn't want to change." So perhaps in order for a person to change or to integrate them into a social unit, would be to engage their "system 2" functioning (frontal cortex effortful thinking, Daniel Kahneman) "show us your war face!" The region of the brain where perhaps the Ego functions. Perhaps one of the reasons Stefan often tries to engage the callers on an emotional level, "coming together". My thoughts on the matter is what if the mind also works a different way. You can engage the prefrontal cortex and try and be more conscientious and integrated into society, but what if it was possible to try and use the more primitive areas of the brain in a productive function. Use system 1 associative functioning to transform a personality. Perceive of existence anew unstructered by the Ego. Personally I see of how a system 2 more aristotlian approach can be successful. But what if a more Platonic allegory of the caves approach is also possible? (had the story come up after looking for the word aeon) Heard J Peterson mention a book called Aion by C.GJung, called it "terrifying". Anyway going along the lines of mysticism, but I wonder given the Universe that is the brain/nervous system, if it could be capable of so much more.
  11. That sounds sensible. "An idea someone has not been reasoned into, can not be reasoned out of." Stefan Molyneux / Johnathan Swift.(Author of Gulliver's Travels) I wonder though if therapy done poorly could create some real monsters though and that maybe Aristotlian Philosophy might be a better option. Taking the steroids over a more balanced workout.
  12. Maybe though it might be possible to infer things about people through word association or previous actions and then look at a selection of people and see if it is the case, come up with a theory to try and explain why that might be the case. In the realm of mysticism, but to perhaps some extent religion, mythology, alchemy and mysticism were precursors to science. Might it be possible through inductive reasoning to try and figure out what's going on. You might not know with certainty what something is, but to have a structure even if it is wrong or not even wrong, but untestable, some kind of filler Luminiferous aether. There are 2 different principles at work though right? Maybe though it could be some form of combination, or something else entirely. OR The ulitmate principle Determinism or Freewill . Adlerian Power Principle. Standing in society or it's perversion in unhealthy individuals. Freudian Pleasure Principle. So it feels good in someway? relative to a complex and it's resolution. Though both seem to ignore the issue of morality and Ethics, would those be delusions in psychoanalysis? Out of the 2 the Freudian seems more plausible to me, but also more deterministic. ACT - So become one with your thoughts and it will work out for the best? Sounds like Absurdism(An Actual Philosophy!!!), what if the person has violent thoughts? Mindfulness Based CBT - To observe your thoughts, but not attach meaning to them or react to them. Sounds like Stoicism. "I pardon you, that's what the Emperor said". Interestingly the Emperor was Christian, Justinian, I think the quote was also mentioned by either Duke Pesta or Vox Day. Coherency Therapy - Looking at ways of resolving complexes so attention can be directed elsewhere? Quietism? What model has been proposed?
  13. You see you're expressing a bias towards conformity. "People decided" not a person decided to.... The mental decision in itself not being so key, but more the concerted action in that decision. The food production being impossible, I think would be because much of the incentives to plant, harvest at the optimal time, store and process crops would be lost. This is not to say that a few people still wouldn't continue to try to produce food or booze, but the fact that crops could be harvested early before someone else gets it being easier then waiting which might involve not getting food, the incentives would be all screwed up. Banging people up until they "learned to produce" things themselves, would imply some form of gulag or workhouse.
  14. Dr. Strangelove: It would not be difficult, Mein Führer! Nuclear reactors could, heh...I'm sorry, Mr. President. Nuclear reactors could provide power almost indefinitely. Greenhouses could maintain plant life. Animals could be bred and slaughtered. A quick survey would have to be made of all the available mine sites in the country, but I would guess that dwelling space for several hundred thousands of our people could easily be provided. Muffley: Well, I, I would hate to have to decide...who stays up and...who goes down. Dr. Strangelove: Well, that would not be necessary, Mr. President. It could easily be accomplished with a computer. And a computer could be set and programmed to accept factors from youth, health, sexual fertility, intelligence, and a cross-section of necessary skills. Of course, it would be absolutely vital that our top government and military men be included to foster and impart the required principles of leadership and tradition. Naturally, they would breed prodigiously, eh? There would be much time, and little to do. Ha, ha. But ah, with the proper breeding techniques and a ratio of say, ten females to each male, I would guess that they could then work their way back to the present Gross National Product within say, twenty years. Muffley: But look here doctor, wouldn't this nucleus of survivors be so grief-stricken and anguished that they'd, well, envy the dead and not want to go on living? Dr. Strangelove: No, sir...excuse me...When they go down into the mine, everyone would still be alive. There would be no shocking memories, and the prevailing emotion will be one of nostalgia for those left behind, combined with a spirit of bold curiosity for the adventure ahead! [involuntarily gives the Nazi salute and forces it down with his other hand]Ahhh! Turgidson: Doctor, you mentioned the ratio of ten women to each man. Now, wouldn't that necessitate the abandonment of the so-called monogamous sexual relationship, I mean, as far as men were concerned? Dr. Strangelove: Regrettably, yes. But it is, you know, a sacrifice required for the future of the human race. I hasten to add that since each man will be required to do prodigious...service along these lines, the women will have to be selected for their sexual characteristics which will have to be of a highly stimulating nature.
  15. Hey Commrades, Why not just call an "Open Access Economy" Communism? Not really sure if Communism is a state of mind or non mind, but this open access economy, sounds a bit suspect what if I want to "reserve" a space for my current "junk" (it has sentimental value)? In the meantime why not settle for a resource based economy? Recyling is a moral virtue after all........... Paradise NOW!!!!
  16. Sounds good to me. "In the long run we're all dead, right?" Eradicate the population of a small low IQ carribean or pacific island and you too can have a place in the sun. Would require a joint venture, viking style though. I mean the word cannibal comes from the carribean right? "Resource based economy" not excatly a wide selection of livestock.
  17. Conan: The riddle... of steel. Thulsa Doom: Yes! You know what it is don't you boy. Shall I tell you? It's the least I can do. Steel isn't strong boy, flesh is stronger! Look around you. There, on the rocks; that beautiful girl. Come to me my child... That is strength boy! That is power! What is steel compared to the hand that wields it? Look at the strength in your body, the desire in your heart, I gave you this! Such a waste. Contemplate this on the tree of woe. Crucify him! It's not enough to be rationally told or follow philosophy, you have to embody ideas/philosophy into the fibre of your being. Was actually watching a STTNG Episode (The Ensigns of Command) today on Zone Horror, the episode was actually exploring the theme of rationality, communication & "Kantian Goodwill". One of the downsides of rationality as I think @eschiedler was alluding to, is that it can in a way cause a person to act in a way that things become a self-fulfilling prophecy. Also seeing that there's been an undercurrent of environmenatlism in many recent posts, anyone ever see the film Prophecy(1979)? Kind of thought I'd throw that in there. The trick being to perhaps not act irrationally, but arrationally.
  18. @Saarang Sahasrabudhe Anarchism means the absence of rulers and by consequence a state, although it would depend on what you mean by state, would a person be refering to an imposed political organisation by force or an established ethno-cultural tradition, a state of affairs. Feudalism has rulers, the feudal lord, but is not necessarily a state, as lands can be inherited in other areas, The King of England aquiring Aquitaine in France through marriage. Anarcho-Capitalism, so no rulers of capital. Or Anarcho-Communism, no rulers, lets have communism now..... If you had a purely Anarcho-Capitalist society all the land could be purchased by a relatively small group of families through wealth generated by their existing capital, making a large number of the population tenants overtime, resulting in rent seeking. To resolve a situation like that something like the homesteading principle could be used to avoid absentee landlords. I think even in an Anarchic society magistrates would be required to settle disputes, the difference would be they'd only derive as much moral authority as the local population was willing to give them.
  19. @Nemesis What I care most about is knowledge and philosophy. In other terms, I am a bit of a polymath with a special interest in philosophy and self-knowledge. However, this is going to be a long life pursuit and I think I am quite far away from being able to make a living out of this and thus until and if I will ever get to that point I will need to make a compromise. Be careful about valuing knowledge, your life being limited and knowledge not. Also I think Stefan and Aristotle would consider philosophy to be empirical(polymath implies an interest in abstractions), i.e what are you actually doing in the world to make people and your life better. I don't actually consider myself to be doing philosophy, more playing around with abstract ideas. From what I have seen most people seem to offer this dichotomy. You either get a job or you become a successful entrepreneur doing what you love. Might be best to think instead of being more integrated into a community. I am really curious what you think about this 3rd option: you become an entrepreneur doing something you do not necessarily care that much about with the main purpose of making money and after you accumulated enough capital in order to be able to sustain yourself and then transition to what you actually find the most meaningful to you. Yeah be careful about that, as Eschiedler said "To put it poetically, it will cost you your soul." Maybe though you could do something in accordance with a few key principles, that even if you don't have skills in the moment you could develop to the point you enjoy what you do. Listening to a book at the moment "So Good they can't ignore you" talks about developing a "Craftsman mindset" over passion. Although at the end of the day, to thine ownself be true...... @eschiedler Who's the Philosopher you met online?
  20. ....people, miraculously, all (99.99%?) decided to defend themselves against tyranny. BTW, I'm actually biased towards tyranny, while having a hatred of it. Existentially in lieu of individuation, there are 2 ways a person can go, Conformity(Feminin) or Tyranny(Masculine). Although perhaps both are generally not good. I think on a community scale, that would be reflected in Interests Rates (representation of time preference in Austrian Economics). However, I'm interested in how I might be able to transcend time preference entirely. I think that is probably beyond the scope of the forum, will probably look into phenomenology and see if that can provide me any answers. Christianity seemed to provide an answer in a way. Looked up Johnny Appleseed.... apparently was a devout Christian who planted nurseries across the USA, where is the time preference there? I think efficiency or effectiveness towards what purpose. "Every art and every enquiry and similarly every action and pursuit is thought to aim at some good and for this reason the good has rightly been declared to be that at which all things aim" - Aristotle Speculating. Effectiveness being perhaps more raw horsepower. In a destructive/mechanic sense a sledgehammer or Axe approach. "Heres Johnny" Efficiency being how focused someone is, whether that involves being slaved to a collective, dogma or philosophy. Dealing with perhaps more algorithmical thinking and following rules. However algorithms aren't always optimal to solving problems, even if they provide a solution. In a destructive/mechanic sense the scalpel approach. Thinking of how society may act as some form of superorganism through the ego, though expressed in different ways. For instance "The Fatherland" vs "The Motherland", Spearhead vs Humanwave. Decentralised Command vs Centralised Command, Starship Troopers vs The Bugs...... Whether that may be reflected in brain structure somehow. I think the answer to the question would depend on whether the person was individuated or basically completely apart of local ego consciousness(following the crowd). Although if the executive brain is decisive, then it will in general be able to make and more importantly execute decisions (for better or worse). The efficiency acting as a multiplier factor, but still limited to raw IQ power in a general population. However, since humans have writing it does provide the opportunity to read the writings of people with much greater intelligence when selection pressure by the outside environment was more brutal. Thereby helping to leverage the more efficient executive brain, although there would still be a minimum "Horsepower"/IQ requirement to be able to getover or comprehend various concepts, perhaps be like having a Humvee(Not very fuel efficient, but where you need the extra power....) or a Mini.
