Complain about misandric trash
nathanm replied to LovePrevails's topic in Men's Issues, Feminism and Gender
Step One: Complain about very specific, negative behavior of individuals. Step Two: Ascribe said behavior to broad groups. Step Three: Rabble. -
I want to know what "Dodging a broomstick being thrown from the ceiling dance" is exactly.

Hmmm, apparently not much has changed in the 25 years since this album coverpolitical cartoon was painted.

Not knowing how to spell words is a good thing. If you try and correct it you're a Grammar Nazi. Nazis=Bad Come on, we all know what they meant! Don't be so uptight about it. Dude, there's more important things in life, you gotta know when to pick your battles. Here, let me post a picture showing some clever bit of text with all the letters mixed up…see how you can still read it with no problem? Ha! Ha! Ha! See, I told you spelling doesn't matter. Embrace error! Wrong is the new right! Yay!

There's many ways it might have gone different. What if he was doing the exact same thing, but was there with a young child? Still a "pervert"? What if he was a big brawny dude like the one above doing the exact same thing? It could be an interesting experiment, much like similar social experiment videos that are out there. What does a man need to look like while flying a copter on a beach and not get attacked by crazy woman? Hmmm. How hot could an aerial video of girls in bikinis actually be, anyway? I bet if you looked hard enough on the interwebs you could probably find similar content. Perhaps even more than that, like even without bikinis. I know it sounds crazy, but this is only what I've heard, it could be a myth for all I know. It seems unlikely that good-looking people would be paid to disrobe and have photographs taken. Who knows, maybe if that guy who got attacked really was a pervert, he might be onto a brand new market: pictures of good looking people. Hey don't laugh, people thought electricity was crazy too when it first came out.

I'm glad it worked out in his favor, but disappointed she did not end up punched in the face. I assume it is not possible for a man to use defensive violence against a woman in the current legal system, but it is sooo painful to watch the guy just lay there and take it. Goddamn. Hmmm, would she react the same if she saw a kid getting spanked in a grocery store I wonder? Cause if the copter guy was a genuine pervert type she might look a bit more heroic. Another hint from Captain Obvious' big bag of hints: Women, if you are willing to wear a swimsuit out in public prepare to be leered at. There's no way around it. If you reveal the saucy bits people are going to look. You can try to fight mother nature if you want, but her record is undefeated. The only solution is to marry ugly people and have babies. But then, we will adapt our standards most likely.

It's OK as long as it's a Gentle Stoning to teach them Discipline, and you cry about it afterwards. I'm going to keep that first video bookmarked in case I accidentally eat some poison berries.

how would you respond to this?
nathanm replied to powder's topic in Libertarianism, Anarchism and Economics
"How would this be handled in your utopia?" Designed to make the anarchist look like the person who has fantastical ideas. Maybe this needs to be turned around on them. Give an example on any current injustice perpetrated by police on innocent people and ask the statist: "WHY is this handled this way in YOUR utopia?" The anarchy-denier is always in the unenviable position of defending things as they are. If you are in favor of government guess what, you won. You have exactly what you argue for. We all are living within YOUR system. Now YOU defend your 'utopian system' where all of these horrible things happen which are caused by government agents. -
Legislation made the air cleaner?

It's far too stupid to deserve a reply. Mute Post, Block User, done. Or just keep scrolling. -
Is it More Annoying to Debate Religious People or Statists?
nathanm replied to Wesley's topic in General Messages
I don't ever bother responding to religious people, so they're not annoying to me as the statist is. It's the difference between make-believe and real evil. -
Getting Annoyed Over Trivial Stuff Other People Do.
nathanm replied to RyanT's topic in General Messages
Being passionate about subjective things allows you to experience the excitement of being passionate without any risk. You can get into fights without anyone getting genuinely hurt. Philosophy can cure this, but you have to be careful as to not lose that passion entirely where it's needed. Self-checkout machines are quite a feat of design, because you are faced with the end user being completely ignorant and you have to train them in real time within a few seconds. That they work at all is pretty cool. It does feel a bit weird at first, you feel like you're shoplifting. You paid, but you didn't talk to anyone wearing a uniform. -
Marvin Heemeyer, 10 years since Killdozer rampage
nathanm replied to alexakarpov's topic in General Messages
I wouldn't ever use the word heroic for anyone who uses violence, even if it defensive and entirely moral. That word needs to be used for proactively good people who do even more good things beyond what regular good people do. This guy got tangled up in bureaucratic red tape, which is of course wrong and ridiculous, but then destroyed a bunch of stuff, put innocent people in harm's way and then killed himself. Not exactly a heroic rebellion against tyranny. I think everyday folks who work a legit job in the private sector are the only candidates for possible heroism. Parents who never hit and yell at their kids and who grow up to be cool, productive, thinking people…that's what I want. Who knows, maybe there will be an anarchist vs. statist war in the future and maybe thousands of people will do great dramatic things to save their teammates, but even that will not be heroic rebellion. It's being a boring, everyday moral person that nobody wants to make a movie about which will pave the way forward to a stateless society. -

This story does not give me a warm fuzzy feeling, it's pretty tragic. Roger Pion on the other hand makes me giggle like a schoolgirl, even though I still technically shouldn't. Reason tell us to take the high road, but there can be much schadenfreude when the tables are turned on the government. That's only for physical property destruction, not so much with the killing people. Destruction of government "property" is a truly guilty pleasure. You know it will just be replaced, you know it doesn't solve anything…it's just absolutely delicious, savory mental junk food. To have the philosophical truth about why these things happen in the first place, and how to prevent it; ingrained in one's mind makes the short term pleasure of vengeance against the State bittersweet. -

Extremely disturbing story, I had to make this meme graphic for it. Feel free to share it wherever you want. It's horrific, but one of the big problems with society is that there's a whole lot of fantasty violence reaching eyeballs and not enough real violence. I don't understand why they have to bust into homes to catch a guy. Can't they track him and have a guy tackle him in a Wal-Mart parking lot or something? Lure him into an area and lock him in? Where is the clever police work? They have to bring a tank to every little fight.

Wow, the paranormal was so cool, then I got introduced to philosophy..
nathanm replied to jovian's topic in Philosophy
I agree that if it's costing you a lot of money to keep it running and you no longer believe in the subject matter it shouldn't continue, but I wouldn't just pull the plug on it instantly. You should state your views and then perhaps try to hand the keys over to someone else if the forum is to continue. I'm sure it's not the first time the founder of any given group has abandoned it after changing their mind. BTW, is there such a thing as a "Bigfoot Denier"?- 5 replies

A disgusting video on Youtube titled "How to discipline our child"
nathanm replied to DanielR's topic in Peaceful Parenting
A bible-thumping hippie and her passive aggressive pro-spanking message!? What in the f#@^%*#!? Infuriating indeed. Bleech! Smiling, bubbly authoritarianism is the fucking worst kind. -
I never liked the idea of PVP in any game. Although you play games for fun, you do still get upset when your character is getting clobbered, and now that means I'm mad at an actual human somewhere out there. Ick. Whereas with co-op or single player you can still get clobbered, but there's no human opponent, it's just your own skill that determines the outcome. DayZ sounds horrible, that's not something I'd ever play. I've tried to play "evil" characters in games which allow for in-game ethical choices, but even that doesn't feel right. But that's still within the context of the fictional story. When you can deliberately crap on another person's game experience, that's even worse IMO.

"Listen Linda" video, celebrated child abuse
nathanm replied to manormachine's topic in Current Events
To me it looks like he's imitating how his father and mother argue with each other. Wait, hang on, Ellen interview confirms this. Sooo…hitting kids is mainstream enough for the mother to publish the video without fear of backlash, but the Ellen show had to leave out the "pow pow" crap in order to produce a cute interview. That would've bummed out the crowd probably. What kind of crazy message is this kid getting? I ask mom for a cupcake she says no, I ask grandma for one but mom finds out a hits me, but then I get to go on a trip and meet a TV show host who gives me a ton of cupcakes. And by the way, Linda…you don't exactly look like you've denied yourself any cupcakes! Sheesh! -
Raising children peacefully isn't so much a strategy as it is what simply needs to happen if the State is ever going to go away. It's going to go away by erosion, not demolition. There's too many damaged people out there and they cannot be fixed. We can only make new ones and try not to cock it up. It's like the State is this huge fire at the center of a city, wrecking everything and each new person born is given a bucket of water, a bucket of gasoline or NO bucket to pour on it by their parents. We need to at least get to the point where there's no more gas being dumped on the fire. It's going to still be a big job to put out the fire, but at least it isn't growing any more.

The turnaround time for these videos is amazing. You guys are doing great work. It wouldn't be the first time I saw a The Truth About… video before I had even heard the original news. What a horrible story. Perhaps the family members alarmed by videos about murder and suicide would have been better off by telling police that they suspected an 85-year old woman was living there and selling drugs.
