Postmodernism is right about one thing, there is infinite data out there and there is no definitive method to solve every problem. It is the data that will save our lives or kill us that we really care about, and that has a relatively finite set of solutions (assuming you don't want to die). loose paraphrase of Jordan Peterson.

Well, about the restaurants, yes. #FreeTrade but about everything else... it's annoying, but that's life. As an engineer in the US, women and minorities are preferentially selected over white men like me and I hate it. But I can't control the nonsense that swirls in the head of fools. -

The biggest problem is that people already own land without digressing further. if anyone read Noziak - Anarchy, State, Utopia. You may better understand the argument for renting land from the government. The only idea that I have been able to come up with is a return of land to the state on a time horizon that would not devalue the current land. My best guess balancing demand and ownership was 80 years. Ie All land remains in the hands of the current owners and their rights exist for the full 80 yrs after which current owners have first right to lease land from government which would be for the unimproved value of the land. Thereafter, they then have right to transfer to another renter to recover any fixed improvements or they can quitclaim to state. Selection of new rent is by open bid.- 5 replies

I think that was The City of Bell -
Gavitor & Joe Black firstly, only 50ish%* of marriages end in divorce. Not 80%. Most First Time Marriages don't end in divorce. They don't end. Well I suppose someone dies eventually, but I'm guessing you would be okay leaving this mortal coil after 70-80yrs. *50% of marriages ending in divorce is very misleading. Imagine 80% have zero divorces and 20% have 5 divorces.

Marrying young isn't just about getting the best years. 1 Her eggs have a very real Best by Date. 2 You want to be adaptable. And her too. You will grow up together if you get into a serious relationship before 25. Just don't marry the wrong person just because you met before 25. 3 You want to be young and have energy when your child is born, and when your child is a teen too.

Free private Cities

Actually a city near Los Angeles used a legal way to create a corporate city. They zoned a voting area which included non-residential commercial buildings and Gerrymandered in one house. Buy up a large piece of land, incorporate, and zone as many voting areas as you want, so long as you keep 51% of the vote locked to you, no other vote matters. I want to design the roads, I have some cool ideas. -
Yes, our use of Right and Left comes from Monarchic France. Those advisors to the king who wished for greater government interventions sat on the Left and those who wished the government leave the citizens alone as much as possible were on the right. Thomas Sowell called Obama a Fascist because he often allowed businesses to engage with customers as they saw fit, but then used government pressure to direct the businesses as he saw fit regardless to how it might distort the market.

Marx argues for the use of force to be used upon people, what else do the soft headed commies need? if labor in factory is 100% of value, then why build factories. The laborer can get 100% of the fruit of his labor if he does all his labor individually without capital. Punch trees until you have the wood you need, punch holes in the ground to attain ores needed... #Factorio

Ha! The problem we face going forward is we have no control over the population. if we were to gain access to a school hypothetically, what would we teach? It would seem the younger a child is taught, the better the moral lesson is adhered to, the more time to reinforced, define its details against the world. Christianity (and every society) has always introduced morality with stories. Stories are more interesting than arguments and there is also the emotional connection to "real" characters vs. person x and y. I find parenting advice with context associated to Stephen's daughter more concrete than general advice.

Russia was always a crap hole on the edge of society. One of their techniques of updating society, was to superficially copy Europe, but it was usually a generation late. Prior to communism, it was a brutal monarchy, no Magna Carta, no personal rights, too dispersed for the poor king to actually protect citizens from brigands. The USSR was so many different cultures. So is Communist China, from Tibet to Shanghai, Hong Kong to the Gobi desert. We may see population shrinkage as if seems the one child policy seems to have entered the culture. Also Buddhism wasn't always what it is today. Buddhism was just another form of control. Priests used to kidnap women and children and prostitute them in their temples to raise funds for the Temple. Christianity was probably the largest force suppressing that behavior. Like real life... it's complicated. You can find some things that were created by a particular influence, but usually it is a hundred reasons for millions of people.

The Druze seem to have saved themselves, but I think their process was lost to history.

I am quiet surprised by Jordan Peterson. He studied psychology for years, spent years in clinical practice, research, lecturing, writing... i am also impressed by his bible study. I rarely meet people who study the Bible so rigorously.

Reminds me of the British guy who bought a wife in the Philippines. People thought she was worth one cow, but the guy paid six cows for her. She was quiet smitten and happy to marry him. Later, people in the town noted, she was so happy and generous towards her husband, she was indeed worth six cows in trade.

If you create a child, family court will still grant her child support. Even if you don't marry and don't have children there is still the protection of common law marriage. Marriage helps with joint ownership of homes, hospital visitation, joint custody of children, etc. Penn, from Penn & Teller, tried to get his attorney to create all the protections of marriage in legal contracts and the result was "not possible".

Why one woman instead of many?
Jsbrads replied to smarterthanone's topic in Men's Issues, Feminism and Gender
It was at one point illegal to be in a consenting relationship with two women. More recently the Supreme Court said it isn't the government's business, but they did not grant them equal protection when they bequeathed it to gays vis a vie licensure. One detail to keep in mind, a minority of very active women do most of the sleeping around. Majority of women (in the US) are not promiscuous. I see less genetic variety by this strategy. If my friend and I marry Sally and Jane (two unrelated women) we 4 create two sets of unique genetic children. If I marry both women, the two sets share genetic info. -
You are aware that most people marry and never get divorced. The stat 50% of all marriages are because less than 20% have more than 4 divorces. A bunch have 1. Some 2. Etc. Dont worry about the stats. Find a community that is more successful (sorry, the atheist community probably not the best place to look) and commit for life, communicate, invest time before starting relationship...

I don't know. Spruce trees and puffer fish don't have SJWs in their population. They may be smarter after all.

And let me guess. Those people are paid more than the balcksmithing staff at Ford? Compensating for inflation? The millions of farmers displaced over a very short time, all finding positions in cities as soon as they needed them. They ended up at entry level jobs at places like Woolworth that paid more money more dependably with more time off and shorter hours the day they arrived in the city. Even if they never got a raise or promotion, they were better off, tho one ended up CEO of a competing national chain.
