Yes, I've been seeing this kind of knee jerk paranoia gathering momentum over the years now in Britain. At least they are including women in their stupidity, as it's usually targeted only at men. One of the big (unspoken) reasons men don't go into primary school teaching of course. I even hear of local petitions to ban men from local parks (without children). Not that it has happened to my knowledge. Just a bunch of busybodies with too much time on their hands.

The Croods - Watch it [SPOILERS ADDED]

Thanks I'll take a look at this movie recommendation for the Philosophy Film Club. -
So we have a chap here that agrees with violence and the use of the state and wants to suggest (wrongly) that we are pacifists.. Come on guys, I gently ask you, why are you engaging with this chap.
-
Yes, there isn't much confusing about 'the initiation of violence'. Unless of course, people have done it over you whilst expressing the same 'obfuscating' caveats. Agressing against those that initiate violence doesn't require a great 'moral' conundrum.

MGTOW: Not All Women Are Like That!
PatrickC replied to Omega 3 snake oil's topic in General Messages
I'm sorry, but it was pretty clear that is what he was doing. Whether he was being explicit about it was a different matter. I also never suggested that someone seeking sex was being dishonest. I was suggesting calling oneself MGTOW and then being dishonest about his motives with the women he met. -
MGTOW: Not All Women Are Like That!

The problem I have with Wes is that by calling himself MGTOW it presumes that he staves off female attention because it's all about them manipulating him as a man. Except he then does the exact same thing with them by treating them as a piece of punani that he can discard when he gets bored. MGTOW for me is about reasserting the values and boundaries I have with myself as a man and the kind of values I expect from other men and women in my life. If sex is the highest value Wes holds, then he'd be better off taking the PUA approach and forgetting about MGTOW altogether, as any of the few woman of quality out there will take a wide berth from him. -
Personally I don't have much wish to meet the needs of someone that has harmed me. The best I expect is an apology and to see a concerted effort to change their behaviour. It seems to me that NVC is just a way to of not passing judgement on individuals that actually deserve it as a means to appease them. Trying to meet the needs of someone else whilst simultaneously attempting to meet your own, where empirical judgement is necessary would not be possible under NVC as far as I can see. As you would be neglecting your own needs in favour of theirs. Real Time Relationships (RTR) would in my opinion be a much better way of getting intimacy and trust between people. Or removing them permanently.

Compliments = harassment. Feminist "logic"
PatrickC replied to James Dean's topic in Men's Issues, Feminism and Gender
They ignore the plight of the child for one reason and one reason alone. It means they become no longer accountable for their actions and the results thereof. They instead prefer to blame the effects of abuse (catcalling let's say), which happens to be men and not the root cause (child abuse), which both men and women are responsible for. Although these days, since women have been given an almost wholesale 'get out of jail free' card, it's arguably more important that women get this, since most men are already berated continually for their behaviour. I think it's a long way off, the culture of women as victims is so deeply entrenched not just culturally by also politically. It's why I'm very keen to see the MRM succeed. -
Right, but the Lefts fear of absolutes is irrational. I mean I have some sympathy for the Nihilist, insofar as they are rejecting the habits and superstitions of the pious and religious. But then they go wholesale on all truth. The relativist is just a more honest nihilist is some senses. As in they think truth is relative. So I'm not sure what there is to learn from them. But I guess if it highlighted some points you hadn't been aware of in their thoughts, then it had some utility.

A meet up planned this Saturday... PM me if you're not a part of Facebook. https://www.facebook.com/events/1525504627666615/

Yeah it was pretty cringe worthy. Like watching that normally alpha guy get respectfully put in his place by a more intelligent women. As she points out about his book, 'it's a stocking filler right?'. If this information was so important you wouldn't be selling it for 20 quid because most kids can't afford it. Reminded me a lot about why Stefan makes most of his content free. I guess Russ would say he does provide a lot of free content. But only if you like a lot of twaddle about consciousness, ecology and wealth distribution of course.

Yes, I think 'judgment' should be annoyingly precise. It should be based on objective reason of course. I just think that NVC claims to be able to resolve ALL conflict where sometimes no resolve can be made. It's not a question of being 'too angry' whatever that means. More over it's just pointing out a fact.

Actually given the advent of the new Steam OS Robert, wouldn't that actually mean that all Steam games would be playable on that platform. Although I guess Steam OS might not be particularly useful as a desktop computer OS perhaps. On an aside It look like the Steam OS is just days away from being released. http://store.steampowered.com/livingroom/SteamOS/

Yeah It's low rent, but believe me amongst low rent women, it does actually work. These type of guys do it all day and all week. So to them it's just a game of numbers. If they get a nibble once a week then it's all good in their minds. The film makers would be better off explaining to the ladies that like this attention just how low rent it actually is. The guys, well they are gonna do what gets them the most female attention of course. They would dress like a clown if it got them laid. -
Oh boy that Vice interview displayed all the characteristics facing Brand and facing him alone I think. A lot of acting out on his part.
-
Yes he's much like the bard of the court, charming and deflowering all the ladies in waiting.

I wonder how Russ will get out of this scandal.. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2813868/Russell-Brand-s-film-company-received-cash-injection-city-bankers.html How does this fit into your revolution? Anti-capitalist Russell Brand's film company is being 'bankrolled by City bankers in tax relief scheme' Comedian has repeatedly hit out at the City and called for debt to be illegal But it emerged today his film company was handed a huge sum by bankers It is believed the money is being ploughed into a new movie, Brand the Film A clip of the film shows Brand urging followers not to 'comply' with system One City investor has now hit out at the star's bashing of 'cartoon bankers'

I think the thing that irritates me is the genesis of the video, is the way they describe it as "harassment". Real street harassment is what most men experience. I wish I could find the stats again, but they seem to have been shrunk into classifications of violence. But the stats as I recall were that around 78% of victims of violent street assault victims are young men between the ages of 16 - 25. They are also the most likely to be killed or end up in hospital. I guess I'm wandering into the fallacy of privation territory. But it's not to say that following ladies or being verbally abusive or demanding attention from them isn't poor behaviour. I'm just more likely to hear these woes much more than I am from a young man that got his teeth knocked out the other evening. -
Incoming people.. Zeitgeister ahead!
