That video with the smirking (Strawmaning) Cenk and Ana is about as insightful as listening to Michael Dean gush all over Jeff Berwick's supposed integrity in this GGC debacle.

Yes, I have a sense in this thread that we are blaming the chaps and giving the ladies very little responsibility. I certainly agree that a chap is responsible for the relationships and expectations he has with women. He should be open and direct about his intentions as they arise. But I'm not going to let women off that connive to collect as many male friends as they can for their own self aggrandizement. Men to varying degrees (with experience and wisdom probably less so to nil perhaps) will always be susceptible to the charms of certain ladies.

I am surprised that I didn't include this video. The first time I got taken down this rabbit hole. This video definitely deserves a mention.

Yes, I listened and was awesome. His history analysis is Brett at his finest including the guests he brings into the conversation. As an aside the productions values are the best I know in the liberty community. His mash up of soundbytes, music and commentary is magically well produced. I think Brett would make a great production adviser for fdr content. Quite sure he probably doesn't have the time, but still.

Been a fan of Monsieur Veinotte since he started.. Always interesting content.

Scottish Vote and The Move to a More Free World.
PatrickC replied to papatree84's topic in Current Events
Whilst I can see your point about more localism leading to less govt. The fact is Scotland will no doubt just apply the same legal system as they have in the rest of Britain, with all the encumbering entitlements and public services that go with that. The Scots have an insatiable appetite for freebies and handouts, as is proved by even the currently more available entitlements the Scots have over the English. The SNP is essentially a socialist party, not unlike the Labour party and are fervent supporters of the EU. They will effectively be trading places with Downing Street to that of Brussels. They will be relying heavily on EU support no doubt. I'm no supporter of national identities, but one has to wonder why some Scots would believe Brussels to have their best interests rather than the British. Unless of course they imagine it's a re-enactment of the 'Auld Alliance' with the French. -
Yes, I read the blog some time back after a friend linked me to it, asking for feedback. JtO, like a lot of people completely missed the point of that video. Some of those of the more vitriolic persuasion were more cognizant, but preferred to poison the well with accusations of narcissism etc. Not surprising (I think), because the genesis of that video, was a call to virtue. A call, that when fully comprehended can scare the living crap out of most people these days. I'm tempted to call JtO's video concern trolling, but I really don't think he's a troll at all. It's clear that he appreciates a lot of Stefan's work. I've enjoyed JtO's work immensely myself over the years and found him to be a mostly consistent and an interesting thinker. I think he genuinely believes he has something worthwhile to criticise Stefan on. Except he really doesn't, at least not in the video he's discussing. I gather he emailed the blog to Stefan (according to his YT comments) and it was ignored, which prompted him to make a video on it. I'm not surprised it was ignored, where do you even start with someone, when they've so missed the point to almost complete dissociation. It's interesting I've seen some quite prominent men in the manosphere re-evaluating of late their opinion on Stefan and this community. Most of it is sadly incoherent and at worst it's just hearsay. I'm merely speculating here of course, but I do wonder whether this call to virtue is at the heart of the matter. I know it's been the biggest challenge for me establishing a philosophical life and actually living it.

Ha, I know I mentioned an idea earlier to you on Facebook, but I had another, which was simply, 'Philosophical Virtues'. That said, I'm beginning to connect better with the canary metaphor now, so how about, 'The Virtuous Canary'. The thing I particularly like about the canary metaphor and it's mining reference, is that the canary is the one that will explore deeper and often further ahead for others. This would be analogous to those wanting to live a philosophical life and helping those they feel connected with in opening their eyes to their blind spots and vice versa of course.

I'd like to throw in some sympathy here for the average friendzoned chap.. In that our current culture values women's relationship needs much more higher than men's needs and will often accuse a man's need of sex as being degenerate. That said, I do understand where the OP is coming from in all this. And awesome for you fella that you now approach romantic interests in this manner. It only highlights why boys need better parents to school them in this world. Whereby they will demand better relationships with females into adulthood.

The Way of the Superior Man
PatrickC replied to MysterionMuffles's topic in Reviews & Recommendations
It's my 'manly way' of course.. -
Recording wise this isn't the best example of this piece by the artist Bill Viola.. But as a metaphor there is certainly that moment when one could so easily run away from the waterfall (of philosophy) that eventually descends upon you gradually. I'm reminded by the tsunami dream that Stefan had some years back and wanted to share.

Can I throw in an alternative read that I found to be a very interesting perspective too. The Way of Men - Jack Donovan http://www.jack-donovan.com/axis/books/the-way-of-men/ -
The fact that you are reaching out here and conscious of your desire to isolate is testament to your own growth. Don't be so hard on yourself and reach out more. Including therapists in the manner that was suggested to you.

So funny, I was only discussing this book with my friend at yesterdays Meet up in London. I didn't get a chance to write down the authors details. Thanks RJ! -

PatrickC replied to Josh F's topic in Libertarianism, Anarchism and Economics
No, your synopsis is correct Kevin. The margin (if any) here is pretty fine. That interview you linked to earlier explains it pretty well if I recall. But like all investments, spread your bets here and there with alternatives. -
Fat acceptance synonymous with feminism
PatrickC replied to fractional slacker's topic in Men's Issues, Feminism and Gender
Personally, I prefer people to call me out on my behaviour, rather than enable me in my dysfunction. Being fat or covered in tattoos, I would hope there were some righteous folk to give me a heads up. -
Women Against Feminism.... criticism
PatrickC replied to Josh F's topic in Men's Issues, Feminism and Gender
Some of the issues I have had around this recent campaign seemingly (and not in every case mind). Is.. 'huh feminism is preventing me from getting the goodies men can give me'. I'm probably hyperbolizing here somewhat perhaps and there are some parts to this campaign that I have liked (women speaking their minds as Kevin pointed out) compared to the many leftist nonsense out there from the usual feminist suspects. I just think that real empathy (with men) takes a little more than a Twitter campaign. -

Not just fat either, but tattoos as well.. What's up with so many ladies and these ghastly colouring books all over their soft skin. -
A very interesting scene. Which reminded me about living an authentic life.
