The american libertarian origins
RichardY replied to GatoVillano's topic in Libertarianism, Anarchism and Economics
I'd be inclined to kill Bob if he refused to help against organised violent barbaric groups and society was in chaos. Especially if he wasn't packing, could be a spy or informer, tie up any loose ends. Would require(requisition) any assets of the deceased. I remember Ayn Rand arguing against Anarcho-Capitalism and for a Nightwatchman state for the reason you highlighted @GatoVillano of armed groups strong arming individual communities. Nietzsche also mentioned in Will to Power somewhere of the issue of punishment (negative reinforcement) and how many individuals involve outsourcing responsibility to many individuals in the state. This is not to say that Anarcho-Capitalism is not the most consistent framework available, but that as well as a High IQ required to understand and work through various scenarios, it also requires full responsibility and to embrace aspects of a persons personality that are not comfortable to many people. Live by the Sword Die by the Sword. Getting back to Bob instead of serving in a local militia a compromise could potentially be reached. If he did not wish to fight he could help in other ways, Medic or Engineer for example. If he didn't wish to help then it would still be important to eliminate him as a potential threat. If he occupied a strategic location to inform or defend this would have to be addressed. If Bob was just some gun nutt in the middle of nowhere then fine leave him alone, made his bed lie in it. Cost and benefit. If Bob is part of the community he is obligated to defend it, if he does not defend it then he isn't a free rider, but a traitor. -
A lot of Far East Asians in Vancouver like 50%, mostly Chinese(Hong Kong, ghetto dwelling) probably some Korean (Bear gal blackmarket and interest in Agriculture) very expensive property avg $1,000,000, lots of homeless people. Vancouver Island looks like some white country club every other building going into Victoria seemed like a dentist, I remember whilst I was there some Canadian Muslim convert tried to carry out a terror attack with a pressure cooker, in Victoria on Canada day. Lot of the smaller towns in BC devastated by logging quotas. Provinces and councils are massively corrupt. Can see on the Internet Minneapolis has a lot of Somalians. But at least you have a massive choice of where to move in the USA. Remember seeing on Sky news recently in the Uk Islamic migrants crossing from the US into Canada and being welcomed essentially by the Canadian mounties(even helped them with their luggage...), "claiming Asylum", and being "fearful" of President Trump. Still, better living in N.America than Europe or even worse S.Africa.

Maybe the better questions would be, how and "why" is power accumulated? "Yes a rock under your home has power." Makes me think of Yoda talking about the force from Star Wars. Maybe something like the formula. Power = Volts(potential difference) x Amps(current). Could be compared to a cultural equivalent of power, maybe there is no such thing or it's a question of perspective, perhaps to be powerful is to be limited.

The Moral Superiority of God (within the confines of Christianity)

How will the unholy alliance between the Left and Islam end

Support the military, I think that is all that can be done in the UK. -
Circumstances relate more to adaptability than to power, unless one's ability to change the environment to suit them is equated with power. True adaptability is to adapt yourself to a changing environment. I think internal trumps external, more due to the fact you "potentially" have direct control. Not to say that exerting influence not control on your outside environment is not a bad idea, mans greatest predator being man. Taken to the pinnacle of power wouldn't this be an equivalent of Iron Man? Morally neutral or amoral? I think done subtly there isn't much resistance, but people being adaptive learn and adjust to new circumstances eventually. Yes I think being emotionally and economically independent can be an act of power, people also change and can grow apart in time as well. I think Master and Slave Morality has effects on one's freedom respectively. But it results from in theory a person(Master) acting as the arbiter of their own destiny, what they want, at any cost and creating their own values (Dr Frankenstein or a Caesar). Slave Morality is a revolt against the Master morality and involves people or a person making virtues out of deprivation, asceticism. (Buddhists, Christians?)Perhaps Master and Slave morality is the result from the exercise of power.
-
So circumstances would be control over your environment? Wouldn't internal ease/integrity(?) perhaps trump that? Though I guess that perhaps wouldn't be power, but something greater. The actions of the people around you, so would that perhaps involve imprinting behaviours or subtle manipulation that they do not realise. I have heard Stefan say something like. "When you try to control people they resist you." Which makes me think of Master and Slave Morality. Both are bound to one another. Slave morality more to do with making a virtue of abstinence and charity, where as Master morality is imposing a persons nature on everything essentially.

If I may delve deeper, perhaps an example, such as an athlete or soldier running an obstacle course. Some qualities the participants possess such as, physical strength and mental faculties(Pain Endurance, Concentration, Awareness.). So a combination of qualities would be required for a task, but also a quantifiable amount. Is a desire ever satiated though? Instead of desire could "want" be a better word? Maybe framing is required and whether to expand or go beyond that frame. Desire I guess could be a deep topic of its own. --------------------------------------------------------------- Something I heard J.Peterson mention in a passing comment about Competency vs Power Hierarchies. I wonder what the difference between them is, I guess with the power hierarchy there is subordination, where as the competency may allow for spheres of expertise(e.g consultants). A few quotes and dialogue related to power came to mind, how to digest them not really sure, but thought I chuck them in anyway. Gunnery Sergeant Hartman: Private Joker, do you believe in the Virgin Mary? Private Joker: Sir, no, sir! Gunnery Sergeant Hartman: Well, well, Private Joker, I don't believe I heard you correctly! Private Joker: Sir, the private said "no, sir," sir! Gunnery Sergeant Hartman: Why you little maggot, you make me want to vomit! [slaps Joker] Gunnery Sergeant Hartman: You Goddamn communist heathen, you had best sound off that you love the Virgin Mary, or I'm gonna stomp your guts out! Now you DO love the Virgin Mary, don't ya? Private Joker: Sir, NEGATIVE, sir! Gunnery Sergeant Hartman: Private Joker, are you trying to offend me? Private Joker: Sir, NEGATIVE, sir! Sir, the private believes any answer he gives will be wrong and the Senior Drill Instructor will only beat him harder if he reverses himself, SIR! Full Metal Jacket "Power perceived is Power achieved." The Substitute "Nature to be commanded must be obeyed." Francis Bacon. "A living thing seeks above all to discharge its strength--life itself is will to power; self-preservation is only one of the indirect and most frequent results.” Nietzsche Oskar Schindler: Power is when we have every justification to kill, and we don't. Amon Goeth: You think that's power? Oskar Schindler: That's what the Emperor said. A man steals something, he's brought in before the Emperor, he throws himself down on the ground. He begs for his life, he knows he's going to die. And the Emperor... pardons him. This worthless man, he lets him go. Amon Goeth: I think you are drunk. Oskar Schindler: That's power, Amon. That is power. Schindler's List Thulsa Doom: You broke into my house, stole my property, murdered my servants, and my PETS! And that is what grieves me the most! You killed my snake. Thorgrim is beside himself with grief! He raised that snake from the time it was born. Conan: You killed my mother! You killed my father, you killed my people! You took my father's sword! Thulsa Doom: Ah. It must have been when I was younger. There was a time, boy, when I searched for steel, when steel meant more to me than gold or jewels. Conan: The riddle... of steel? Thulsa Doom: Yes! You know what it is, don't you, boy? Shall I tell you? It's the least I can do. Steel isn't strong boy, flesh is stronger! Look around you. There, on the rocks; that beautiful girl. [Points to a teenaged girl on a nearby cliff] Come to me, my child... [Beckons to her] [The acolyte plunges from the rock to her death.] Thulsa Doom: THAT is strength, boy! THAT is power! The strength and power of flesh! What is steel, compared to the hand that wields it? Look at the strength in your body, the desire in your heart, I gave you this! Such a waste... Contemplate this on the Tree of Woe. Crucify him! Conan The Barbarian

Mirror Neurons: Link Between Experience, Language and Understanding?
RichardY replied to Eudaimonic's topic in Philosophy
"gurodupedarang". Stretch of the imagination...., but could your made up word, be inspired by, Doppelganger - dupedarang(Double Person) and Guru ("Grave",Weighty,Teacher), unconsciously. Both words would tie into the topic, besides often pleope cna unredsantd waht yuo aer syiang eevn if teh odrer is srecwed up. Another example might be a person who has speech dyslexia, where an older sibling is able to understand them, even if they can't pronounce certain sounds well, at all, in order or spelt correctly. Even if the two were not inspired unconsciously (could there be any other way, bash the keyboard I guess). A few points come to mind, a persons conception of death, maybe through the guidance of a guru, "haha you can't kill a Hindu, Oh help me Jesus" - Simpsons. Interestingly the Sanskrit Guru is related to Indo-European language. Doppelganger, so the identification of another as in someways parts of the self. Isn't this topic basically related to consciousness and therefore borderline mysticism. I would say that a psychopath for instance, from what I have heard and seen, lack mirror neurons and empathy respectively. They are still able to deal with abstract concepts, but lack the visual spatial and awareness skills. Despite this they maybe intelligent in someways and probably are often politicians. A sociopath has more mirror neurons, and are able to use them to predict and manipulate the behaviour of others to varying degrees, without scruples. Sociopaths being your Cult leaders or Gurus possibly. A few ideas anyway, though I wonder how some practical benefits, potentially could be attained. -
"Let us reply to ambition that it is she herself that gives us a taste for solitude." Montaigne. When you are content. Don't confuse, with comfortable though. Happy - Happenstance ie luck. Only can be happy or unhappy, when acting towards some objective. "My life has been full of terrible misfortunes most of which never happened." Montaigne. Bliss - Beyond happiness and contentment. "If there is such a thing as a good marriage, it is because it resembles friendship rather than love." Montaigne. Love - What is freely given. "What a grand thing, to be loved! What a grander thing still, to love!" Victor Hugo. Let us leave aside the tedious comparison between the solitary and the active life; and as for that fine statement under which ambition and avarice take cover, “That we are not born for our private selves, but for the public,” let us boldly appeal to those who are in the midst of the dance; and let them cudgel their conscience and say whether, on the contrary, the titles, the offices, and the hustle and bustle of the world are not sought out to gain private profit from the public. The evil means men use in our day to push themselves show clearly that the end is not worth much. Let us reply to ambition that it is she herself that gives us a taste for solitude.

This argues the opposite of everything here,...
RichardY replied to powder's topic in General Messages
Part of the insidious nature of it all. Showing things that while technically true, are not the whole truth. "Lies, damn Lies and Statistics". I remember when there was a riot in London some years a go, over a black youth being shot. Looting broke out and then when the police were sent in, looting occurred in other cities. Had sentences publicised on the MS News afterwards, like 5 years for stealing bottled water and value rice, wtf steal something decent. (Obviously meant as a deterrent). I guess if teenagers in America are staying in having Wendy's burgers and playing GTA, they probably aren't in much shape to cause trouble, unless en masse. -
On the 1st Point. Video games, Youtube, can be a big drain. Friends are essential, unless you are content in being a wildman. Hard to focus on being when you are addicted to other things. On the 2nd point it's not something I've really thought through completely. Still very fuzzy in thinking. Focus - Bring into awareness, your current situation, emotionally and on a base survival level. Redirect - Use any emotional energy towards some goal or wholeness of character. Identify - Why do I feel this way? Embrace - To oppose is to often build resistance. Instead bring what you would seek to oppose closer or cut out the ground beneath. For example like bringing an opponent in closer, in martial arts. Neutralise - See alternative perspectives. Define - Reach a definitive end in character. Aesop Fable. The Sun and the North Wind. Sometimes it is more effective to indirectly persuade subtly and on an unconscious level, than to use force head on. MBTI I get INTP. Introverted Thinking - Unconscious thinking, often come up with answers without consciously thinking, so in a maths test will not be consciously aware how the answer was worked out sometimes. Useful in sports such as Ping Pong. Ex Intuition - Searching for information, pattern matching. In Sensing - Prefer to keep with existing previous known data and facts and integrate, rather than update. Ex Feeling - More apt to feelings of others than self, but an inferior function. More input orientated. Compared to an INTJ, for example (The functions flip, but have different priorities) In Intuition - Using existing formulas or methods to solve problems. Ex Thinking - Consciously working through problems. In Feeling – In touch more with own feelings. Ex Sensing – Open to new facts and information. More output orientated.

1) Don't be an addict. (More of a symptom) Anything that promotes low consciousness behaviour, whether it be video games, people, food, gambling or any other drug. 2) Clear your thoughts, work through what you think and feel. Focus, redirect, identify, embrace, neutralise, define. Just came up with the acronym maybe there is a better one or process. 3) Live or work in an area where you have bargaining power.

You can have a verbal contract with a person, doesn't have to be written. Contracts are because you trust someone and have contracted them to do something. The emphasis of a written contract is on the formality and communal aspect. There was something in the past called "Fleet Marriages" marriages taking place at a prison, why? It's not like London doesn't have its fair share of chapels and churches. Marriages of men to minors. Hence the Marriage Act 1753, requiring witnesses and a license from a church.

Dark Horse, haven't seen it, but from the synopsis looks like a story based around the Oedipal Complex. A horse is often a symbol of the unconscious("Man and his Symbols" Carl Jung) whether it be biblical in revelations or the idea of a Trojan horse.

What does it mean to be an entrepreneur for the cause of freedom?
RichardY replied to Mole's topic in General Messages
Up to you, see it as a honeypot if you wish. But they have a monopoly on accreditation. You live in Australia right? why not start a salon(Not the cosmetic kind) somewhere near a university or do event organisation, provide supplementary education a nice relaxed environment (perhaps opportunities to bang hot girls). Learn psychology through people and not as much through books. "Who dare Wins" kind of motto. If you are going to lecture on being an entrepreneur and liberty why not live it?- 7 replies

Is it just me or is this forum pretty empty nowadays?
RichardY replied to Jot's topic in General Messages
No, go kiss my hairy arse. Also from RationalWiki( The Site you used for the Concern Troll Definition) Steve Stefan Molyneux (born 1966) is a British Irish-Canadian political activist, amateur philosopher and Internet pundit. Since 2005, Molyneux is the host of Freedomain Radio,[2] a podcast where he discusses his philosophy, politics, religion, science, and relationships. He also writes regularly for anarcho-capitalist websites and has self-published several books. Molyneux has a group of very ardent fans, even though he is only questionably an ancap at this point, and is hated by a large portion of them: he defends cops, is a "racial realist", says weird red pill things about women, and is a hawk on Mid East relations. He presents a crank magnetism chimera of men's rights crybaby, white rights crybaby and some sort of fedora-lover's Glenn Beck[3] (or a thinking man's RooshV) who is known for mistreating his guests. Have various clans, select or ban members, based on a weighted Democratic system, like any local football team. Way of filtering for discussions for better or worse, but more competitive/orientation and level based, silly having a Grandmasters vs Novices for example. Just doing a search of the forum for various philosophical jargon can see that people with a decent level of intelligence like computer scientists often quit or have lower rep for being misunderstood. Out of self-interest I'd like to drain the knowledge of the best. A clan system could be a way of doing this, maybe there is a system already in existence, there is for gaming. Easier said then done, though as I said, perhaps there are systems in existence. -

Trolling provides no benefit whatsoever, zero trolls would be the ideal, there can be uncertainty ascertaining who is a troll and who is not and whether they are even aware that they are doing it. Occasionally it may lead to greater awareness as an indirect consequence or it may reinforce existing beliefs. The only way to deal with trolls is to stab em or knock them off the bridge.... Teachers imo are rare(Providing practical benefits in the Real World) and require a degree of acceptance, the best that can be hoped for are students of great teachers, i.e they are studying and reporting on and of their work. What great artist would spend their time on a forum? There are lots of examples of Clan and League setups, just think of the massive online gaming community, isn't it estimated to be worth billions of dollars. A weighted-democratic system. Is there a cultural taboo not covered by FDR? "Generals without armies are naked indeed." -

Ah cool, you play Total War, Mishi? I liked the original Medieval and Shogun(The AI is Better). I added flamer(just seeing your post) was just thinking of a kind of league system was originally just going to put concern troll thinking of (D.D. just now). Concern trolling is a right pain, best to ignore or snipe imho (had that a lot on the forum originally when I joined). -

I wonder if some forums have a football/soccer like a league/clan system. Looking for concentrated knowledge the easiest way possible. Could be a way of mitigating concern trolling(and other forms ie Flaming) and more importantly match people to depth of knowledge, skill and awareness. -
It doesn't.

What is your reason for being? Is like saying what is your - Being for Being - Reason for Reason - Being for Reason. It is self referential and circular. You don't, that's what makes a prospect tantalising. "Why?" Why, to give you a taste of your future. A preview of things to come. Con permiso, Capitan. The hall is rented, the orchestra engaged. It's now time to see if you can dance. - STTNG Q WHO? Futurus - To grow or become. I haven't, though speculating to form an answer. 1) Let it be....(Tabula Rasa); whether through meditation, cutting out addiction, therapy, acceptance, contentment or through innate desire, Aristotelian Character Virtue (75% of population, Sense/Empirically based, Conscious Thinking, Reward Circuits feedback loop (Reinforcement)?, Rain man) 2) Cut deep(Apriori); into the very fibre of my being, how best to and with what outcomes I have yet and may not be able to fully fathom. Fight Club style, potentially go crazy. Trying to find information on such a path is not the easiest, many people seem insane and crazy. Not like following a checklist. Deep Meditation/Trance, Inception, "Peace Pipe".(25% of Population, Intuitive Based, Reward circuits puzzle based?(Incomplete Patterns), Unconscious Thinking, Mercury Rising)

Man can not live on bread alone though right?(pretty much me, meat popsicle) In Spain you're not classified as a man unless you're married, chico instead (like in GTA3). Property goes to the wife and is divided among the children. Yeah, have heard stories of people offering to buy the daughters and spouses of people on holiday in the Middle East(in broad daylight) don't know if it still goes on. Though could always trade in cows instead, 1 for 1 or something. Could always do what Eddie Murphy suggested, go out to Africa and find some bush bitch butt naked on a Zebra. Or could trade western girls with princess complexes for hardier eastern European ones.
