Bad Parents - The Disease of Human Rot
_LiveFree_ replied to _LiveFree_'s topic in Peaceful Parenting
There is only one solution. Non-violence. This shit won't change without getting angry first. That anger needs to be directed at the right target, though. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EUdRgNPUw0s but I understand what you mean. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lqbqnHyC0t0 -
Sometimes I just have to scream back https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hcGvN0iBA5s Post what you find. ---------------------------------- The worst one I've ever seen https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Evrj6Zriu5A Men, please save the world and stop screwing crazy bitches.

Agreed. FDR is an academy with the purpose of creating more philosophers. The true success of FDR will not be in changing the world, whatever that means. What we are working for will take many more people like Stefan. When there are multiple philosophy podcasts running which talk about peaceful parenting, when there are windbags of peaceful parenting chattiness rampant on the airwaves, when Stefan becomes irrelevant, that is when FDR is a success. I've seen people who want to treat philosophy like it's a political campaign. Certainly getting the word out is an important aspect, but it is tertiary to the real work, which is internal.

Well of course you can't make someone care. All you can do is be prepared, honest, articulate, and passionate. So when you are confronted with that argument (it's always been like this), how do you reply? (It might be possible that you are pursuing the spray and pray tactics because you feel like you can't make any progress with the people in your life that matter. Am I off base?) -

Why do the terms "Cisgender" and "Transgender" Exist?

Where did you get the idea that I hadn't read the thread? I never said that. Wtf, kev? *(never said I hadn't read the thread. I guess i wasn't clear on that.)*I have waited months and months with MMX, each time choosing to not engage.I might believe it if there was a clear example, which I did give. It's not like I walked in here blind. And I'm not wrong. -

Why do the terms "Cisgender" and "Transgender" Exist?

Yes, because, ya know, that's what using philosophy is for. To let other people who can't see evil figure it out for themselves. That is not consistent with the philosophy I've learned here. -

Somehow I missed your response when you posted. Sorry about that. I'm so glad things have improved for you both! That's wonderful! Ya know I had never even thought of ending someone else's sentences as antagonistic. I can see now over time it causing issues. And the non-apology is just the worst :-/ Thanks again so much for sharing -

Oh please. Not a chance. And I think I'm going to step away from the forums because someone like you would be able to acquire such a positive amount of rep. I mean I guess it was inevitable, the more popular something becomes, the lesser the degree of quality people it attracts. I don't need a brain scan to know I have a headache. No one should be required to take a brain scan to know they are transgender. Most diagnoses of all ailments are made because of strong evidence that suggests whatever diagnoses, not because there is undeniable proof. You wield philosophy like a kid with a gun. You don't know what you're doing, and you should spend far less time on these forums and much more time with a therapist, headphones and podcasts, and journaling. Philosophy is the most powerful weapon in the world and by swinging it around carelessly like you do, YOU are a dangerous weapon. One that isn't being used for noble or righteous purposes. If you think popularity makes you good, all i need to do is point to every dictator that's ever lived. The only thing that matters in this thread is philosophy, and the way you use it is atrocious. -

Why do the terms "Cisgender" and "Transgender" Exist?
_LiveFree_ replied to MMX2010's topic in General Messages
Me feeling pain in my head because of a headache is 100% subjective. But science has proven that it's because of an increase in blood flow. Science is also showing that feelings of being a gender that is not your biological sex come from certain balances of hormones that flush the brain when a fetus is developing. It is not a delusion. All feelings are subjective. But the causes of those feelings are not necessarily subjective. In the cases of transgender folk, the causes of the feelings are not subjective. You can hide behind your pseudo-intellectualism all you want. Those of us who have actually learned to apply philosophy and face ourselves can see through you. You use "philosophy" to push people around. This is not the only topic in which you've done it, and you're not the only person on these forums to do it. -

This is what I'm talking about. You are not questioning yourself. You do not ask why I think you're full of crap. To you, you're right, and everyone needs to see that you're right. This is boring. Moving on. -

MMX, you do not understand RTR if you think it can be done on a message board. And not only that, but even if I were on the phone with you or in person I wouldn't feel comfortable RTRing with you. Quite frankly I find you to be full of crap. You've shown zero vulnerability or willingness to question your own conclusions. I have had curiosity towards you. I asked you questions in another thread, which you refused to answer until i had to ask you multiple times to do so. Then you ignored my other questions. -

Why do the terms "Cisgender" and "Transgender" Exist?
_LiveFree_ replied to MMX2010's topic in General Messages
Ok, Kev, I reread your posts. I think you have a pretty good understanding. I also think you have sympathy for transgender people and what they have to experience in their life. Calling it a tragedy is, in my opinion, just a bit too far. A tragedy is when a transgender person doesn't receive the help they need and decides to suicide. The suicide is tragedy. If Stephen Hawking suicided, that be a tragedy. Him being confined to a wheel chair? Well, that is his challenge in life and it sucks. But he's done remarkable things even with his disability. There is no surgery to make him normal again. Transgender people (and it's "transgender" not "transgendered". you wouldn't say "homosexualled") face a challenge in life that is no doubt a struggle. Hell, 400 years ago if you survived birth, life just sucked balls anyway. Is that a tragedy? I think you're overdoing it and that's why it comes across as offensive. -

Because it's ok to be collectivist when you're ridiculing collectivists. this has nothing to do with gender identity. -
Why do the terms "Cisgender" and "Transgender" Exist?
_LiveFree_ replied to MMX2010's topic in General Messages
As my post said, it was my perception, not a fact. I will go back and reread your posts. Preliminarily, "transgender" is not the same as "male" or "female". It is not a gender. It is an umbrella term that encompasses all people who do not identify as fully male or fully female. There are many gender classifications that fall under transgender. To say that transgender is a gender is like saying Ben and Jerry's is an ice cream flavor. I'll admit that I'm still trying to figure my way around all of these terms as they are somewhat new to me and can be confusing. The term "transgender" is not a good term to describe this state, and as you pointed out it does imply a binary condition. Male <----trans---->female. The problem is that this binary understanding is societal. Transgender implies no action. If a person is born with male parts but has the brain structure of a woman, whether she realizes it or not, and whether or not she ever undergoes transition, this person is considered transgender. Now if this person starts behaving as a woman and/or decides to go through transition, then she becomes a transvestite. Her gender was always female, but her sex transitioned from male to female. There are some transgender individuals who are pangender who may or may not choose to alter their genitals. Gender does not equal sex. Sexual identity is about who you are attracted to. It is not gender identity or the type of genitals you have. Sexual identity is sexual orientation. There are more than three (gay, straight, bi) types of sexual orientation. Gender identity is what you perceive yourself to be. Sex is what your body turned out as. I apologize if this is covering old ground. I just wanted to get in a quick reply before I go spend a bit of time rereading this thread. Thanks, Kev [edit: correction in terms: Transgender and transexual are basically the same thing. I mistook transexual for transvestite, which I have now fixed in this post.] -

I have had all those symptoms too. I'm not ADD. Medication didn't solve the problem. A good therapist, philosophy, good diet, exercise, and meditation did. As well as getting shitty people out of my life. -
Peaceful Parenting a prerequisite for anarchy?
_LiveFree_ replied to ogwahs's topic in Peaceful Parenting
The state is a symptom. If I get an awful flu, one of the symptoms will likely be vomiting. Vomiting is a great way to spread the flu to others. Enough vomiting can dehydrate the body and lead to death. However, vomiting is the body's mechanism to try and rid itself of contagions. The government is like the vomit of childhood trauma spewing out onto the world. It infects everything it touches. But it also clearly identifies who's sick. When afflicted with vomiting, you stay in bed, rest, sip water or other replenishing drink, eat very light food. You take it easy and go slowly. The body can fight off the flu with the help of medicine. Medicine in this case being philosophy. You can inoculate yourself and others against catching the flu with peaceful parenting. Peaceful parenting is like living a healthy lifestyle around healthy people and being able to identify when sick people come around you. When that happens you know to keep your distance, wear a mask, wash your hands frequently, and trust that your healthy body can fight the infection. I had fun with this metaphor -

MMX, Is this still your position? (Forgive me as it is a bit difficult keeping up with the discussion in this thread)Also, Kevin, yes there are 3rd gender Trans. You've probably never heard of them because it's very rare. ------My perception of the majority of this thread is that there is a ton of ignorance on the topic. And this is being masked in word play, bad philosophy, and unprocessed childhood trauma. This isn't surprising as the scientific community has just begun to really explore these things. http://www.shb-info.org/sexbrain.htmlGood reading -

It doesn't make sense that she's tell you to see a psychiatrist after only one visit. I'd also abstain from trying to diagnose yourself. Just stick with your experiences and let the conclusions naturally arise. If you see a psychiatrist, they will prescribe you meds whether you really need them or not. -
Nice! I think you and I had a similar experience
