With my limited understanding of the situation only one thing would concern me. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ What would happen if she stops infantilizing her mother ? My guess is that the mother would break down in some sense, and this would be painful to your girlfriend because then she would have to face the fact that she was raised by this "type" of person. Basically by keeping her mother together she doesn't have to face the reality of her past (trauma). ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ This is just a theory, but besides that I want to say congratulations on the relationship I hope everything works out.

I think it would be a good idea. Maybe for donators only

Hey guys I made a made a short freedomain radio video. The idea behind it is to engage people that have shorter attention spans and less intelligence by making a short ADHD proof video. Let me know what you think. This is just a beta.

Here is my pitch. Hawkings & Bill Nye make the case that humans need to explore space for survival therefore we need to fund more space exploration programs. They make the case that this leads to innovation in technology. I heard stef talk a little bit on this but i think it would be interesting to get a rational take on this subject. To me it seems like funding space programs is like welfare for Scientist.

So as some of you know i started a gaming channel. I was looking on steam for a game to play and i found this new indie game that was funded by crowd funding called "Among the sleep" You play as a 2 year old in a third person perspective. I started playing it and it was very unsettling the mother seemed too nice (fake). She leaves the kid alone in the game to crawl in a closet & vanishes at night. There is no baby monitor or anything. Just when i was about to stop playing the game because its so unsettling and its a horror game! I never liked horror but i was curious. I decided to look up the plot in wiki because i had a suspicion the mother was fake and abusive and to my surprise.... Spoilers... After several memories are found, the child has a vision of his mother crying, with empty bottles around. After the mother hit the child and ripped Teddy's arm off, the child crawls to the door where The Father picks up the child and assures them that he can fix Teddy. Im going to finish the game. I usually play a few times a week at a very slow pace but when i edit the videos i skip allot of game play and just show the main story. I just thought this was interesting. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Among_the_Sleep

***This is just theory*** I noticed a pattern. Sometimes we do things just to seem busy and alleviate our anxiety about life... i.e. the present or the future . (I had trouble with this) For example you choose a major that is somewhat abstract, and requires allot of analytical thinking. You are into FDR, you said you like taking courses like philosophy. And you have "obsessive-compulsive disorder" All these things can be really good at distracting you from life. My basic theory is that you are distracting yourself from something, let me know what you think.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Directed_attention_fatigue I would like to hear your thoughts on it, I recently came across the idea. I always has the suspicion that this occurred but I never knew the name for it.

either, If the story is deep i could talk about that, and if the game play is deep i could analyze that.

I started a lets play channel and I was thing off doing some indie games that are deep. Have you guys played any interesting games lately ?

Could the Natzies have won the War ? (hypothetical)

thanks, well said ! -
The reason I ask this question is because they keep making games about this subject. Here is an example of a new game with this story: Not to forget , the Call of duty Natzi mode. That game is probably the most popular game in history, have you guys seen the sales numbers for that game series ? It just made me think could this really be possible? Nazi Germany was fascist , and going up against the semi free market US (and other nations). In my head this would be impossible because in my mind the Free Market always works better than another system, so the country with the most freedom would win. What do you guys think, Im curious to hear what stef thinks since he is really knowledgeable in the realm of History.

I was introspecting and i remember watching a documentary about chimps. One thing that stood out to me was how much mothers and fathers teach their babies through modeling and setting a template . There was this monkey who's mother died so the youngster monkey was left without a parental figure to teach it socializing skills and other survival skills. i.e. Picking bugs off each others back, grooming, picking fruits , and defending against predators. Slowly but surely the monkey was ostracized from the monkey tribe. Where he or she was vulnerable to predators, out in the wild without skills. This monkey was considered dead. This sadly reminded me allot of my life, how I'm swimming against the current to survive and learn skills that came naturally to others.

I recently went back and dug up some old music that i listened in my youth, When i was in 4-5th grade. I spoke with Joel about how music that i listened to when i was a child brought up anger emotions in me. I explored this further and there was this song that i use to listen to constantly in the home where i was abused. Here are some of the lyrics that stand out to me. Come on, step inside, and you will realize.... What's your vision? You'll see, what do you expect of me? I cant live that lie Hey! I've sick mom, With a fucked dad. Dealing with your life. really want me to be a good son. Why? You make me feel like no one......... Free me of your life, inside my heart dies. Here is the video: The melody in the beginning is a melody that is played to babies or children. I listened to angry music because i wasn't allowed to express anger in my environment.
